The racetrack light bar located on the trunk door is dimming due to water intrusion from the poor/lack of sealing on the light. This lack of sealing keeps making water go in to the light, thus reducing the car's visibility at night. When this failure happens the cruise control is immediately deactivated which requires the driver to take control of the vehicles speed, during my last trip a semi-truck was preparing to pass me and was very close behind my van, when my van quickly slowed down it appeared that the driver of the truck had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident. When this failure happens two error messages are displayed on the instrument display behind the steering wheel, “Active Brake Assist Functions Limited see operator’s manual” and “Active distance assistance inoperative”. After this failure happens I have unsuccessfully attempted to correct the failure by performing the following: •>Turn off the van for 1 to 45 minutes. •>Cleaning all of the sensors in the front bumper, glass windshield & what may be a sensor in the front grille. •>Various combinations of steering wheel button pushes. •Searched the manual, Mercedes indicates that I should “Visit a qualified specialist workshop”. System functionality eventually returns indicating a message similar to “active distance assist now available” (I did not photograph this message). This can happen as soon as ≈45 minutes and as long as the next day. During dealer recall service I very loudly complained about this failure there was no written documentation that I had complained and no mention of any correction to address this problem.Read more

It is clear that Mercedes Benz doesn’t care about the safety of the passengers, and even worse, profiting from a defect in the materials that they use for the brake lines. Apparently the wires that connect the camera are ridiculously fragile and when the windshield was replaced they were damaged. I have been waiting since spring 2023 for the parts after software updates failed to fix the problem and Ford realized the problem. They are now on back order and it keeps being pushed back. The wires are clearly defective and should not have been used if they can be damaged by a windshield replacement. And issuing a service bulletin clearly shows that they know it’s a problem but they do not want to pay to fix for everyone.Read more

In the 1.5 years since I bought the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (new vehicle) there have been three instances where the car has failed to turn on or off due to rapid discharge of the 12 V battery. In all three occasions, the main battery was fully charged; however, the 12V discharged rapidly. I am very concerned about the safety of myself and my young children as I regularly use this car to go to work and take my kids to school. The only warning sign was a yellow light on the dashboard of the car—the indication that the main battery is charging the 12 V battery (this was happening more frequently leading up to the 3 instances, which tells me that the 12V battery needed charge, but was being insufficiently charged by the main battery). Because of the poor 12V battery, I avoid using functions that could deteriorate the 12V battery, such as air conditioning, and the GPS system. Hyundai recently sent a letter/safety notice about a faulty ICCU and fuse, and I will be taking the car in soon to get this repaired, but the repeated discharges of the 12V battery in the last 1.5 years has deteriorated the 12V battery enough that Hyundai should be proactively replacing it (not just the ICCU and fuse).Read more

Beginning 8/22 and currently happening, my 2017 CR-V 1.5L Turbo with 48K miles (and all routine services done at Honda dealership/service centers since buying it brand new) does not engage when going from Reverse to Drive; in 1st gear the RPMS increase up to 3K or so before shifting into 2nd gear. I have had the vehicle into three different Honda dealerships/service centers and they can replicate the issue but no resolution as there are no service codes identified during diagnostics and none appear on the dash. First Honda advisor came up with no recommendations; 2nd advisor flushed and replaced transmission fluid; and 3rd advisor suggested testing and replacing turbo at cost of $3500+ and no guarantee it would solve the problem. I am distressed that the issue cannot be identified by Honda and fixed. I fear for my personal safety and that of my passengers as the CR-V is less reliable and I only drive short distances when need be. Taking it on a road-trip or long distance is out of the question.
