To NHTSA: I am filing this complaint about a dangerous stall/overheat defect in my 2019 Lincoln MKC, VIN [XXX], currently at 79,820 miles. This vehicle was built 2018-10, before Ford's engine redesign, and it is now undrivable due to coolant intrusion into the engine, a known and documented defect covered under Ford TSB 22-2229 for the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. What happened: the car overheated on m
... e at Church's Chicken. I came out with coolant to top it off, and cautiously drove it to Dr Underhood Repair Shop. They ran the codes and quoted a full engine replacement, but couldn't source an engine, so they sent me to the dealership. I paid them and limped the car across town to Randall Ford. Randall Ford confirmed the failure matched the TSB. I paid them too, and the car overheated again within 500 feet of leaving their lot. I had to park it at a strip mall and have it towed to our warehouse, where it sits undriveable today. Randall Ford's diagnosis (repair order XXX, dated XXX) is coolant leaking into the engine, requiring a new engine, quoted at $16,735.60. The codes pulled were P0217, P0303, P0316, P0420, and P06E9 - overheat, misfire, misfire, catalyst efficiency, and turbocharger coolant/fluid, all consistent with the coolant intrusion pattern described in TSB 22-2229. I confirmed rough running, and the car overheating with no visible external leak, which matches the pattern in Ford's own bulletin. I am aware Ford issued CSP 21N12 to extend coverage for coolant intrusion on the 1.5L EcoBoost engine, but no equivalent program or recall exists for the 2.0L EcoBoost engine in my Lincoln MKC, despite the same defect and the same TSB language applying. There has been no recall issued for this problem on my vehicle at all, even though Ford is well aware of the defect. I also want to note that this is not an isolated issue with this vehicle - I have separately experienced the documented purge-valve/fuel-system defect on this same car, which suggest INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FORead more

The driver’s side front door inner sheet metal housing has suffered a severe structural failure where the door check-arm brackets mount to the vehicle frame. Under completely normal vehicle operation, the thin-gauge metal has cracked, buckled, and completely torn away from the inner door assembly. This creates an immediate safety hazard as the door can no longer be safely controlled, dampening i
... ts swing. A certified independent collision center evaluated the damage and officially recommended a total door shell replacement, explicitly warning that localized spot-weld patching is structurally insufficient to restore safety due to metal fatigue. Lincoln Client Services was formally contacted regarding this defect but refused assistance or goodwill coverage, citing a minor calendar expiration of the factory warranty. If left unaddressed by the manufacturer, this stamping defect risks the door catching wind, overextending, or failing to latch and secure properly while the vehicle is in motion, presenting a direct risk to occupants and nearby traffic.Read more

My husband and I own a 2017 Lincoln MKZ that was purchase new in 2018. It is equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, with approximately 69,000 miles. It has been meticulously cared for! Before the diagnosis, I noticed that when starting the vehicle and backing up, the engine would jerk slightly until I stepped on the accelerator to proceed. The check engine light then came on, which prompted me to
... take the vehicle to the Lincoln dealer for diagnosis. The servicing Ford/Lincoln dealer, Sugar Loaf Ford in [XXX], examined the vehicle and found coolant in a cylinder. We have been advised that the engine requires replacement. I am concerned because this appears consistent with reported coolant-intrusion problems involving the 2.0L EcoBoost engine used in certain Ford/Lincoln vehicles. A vehicle with only approximately 69,000 miles should not require complete engine replacement because coolant is entering a cylinder. We contacted Lincoln Customer Service and opened case #XXX requesting assistance. Lincoln declined our request and closed the case. Sugar Loaf Ford also contacted Lincoln on our behalf, but Lincoln again declined assistance. I am filing this complaint because I am concerned that this may be a recurring engine defect rather than normal wear. I request that NHTSA document this failure and consider it together with similar complaints involving 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles, particularly failures involving coolant intrusion into the cylinders and resulting engine replacement. The next morning, I took the car to a mechanic, who after checking the power steering, informed me that the E.P.A.S. motor sensor at fault and that there's an active service recall on vehicles fitting the year, make, and model of my car. I called Lincoln of Queens Center, and was told that my vehicle was not on the list for recalls. This was after I provided them with my VIN number. The customer service representative couldn't give a valid or specific reason why my VIN number was excluded from the list, except to say, "that's the way it's always been, I don't make the policies." In search for a better explanation, I was transferred to Ford Recall department, then Client Relation Center, where representative [XXX] submitted an A.S.O form and referred me to (N.H.T.S.C), where I spoke with Ms [XXX] who stated that they are not responsible for omitting certain VIN#'s from the recall list. I don't want to believe that a powerful and reputable automobile manufacturing company like Ford and Lincoln would exclude certain VIN numbers from their service recall list, knowing at any time, a faulty motor sensor, needed for safe navigational steering, can go bad, resulting in multiple automobile accidents, that can cause serious injuries, or death to innocent unsuspecting motorists. The front multipurpose camera system failed, triggering multiple safety warning lights simultaneously, including ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), LKAS (Lane Keeping Assist System), and related camera-dependent safety systems, along with a "Multipurpose Camera Unit" fault code U3000-49. The failure pattern has been intermittent and inconsistent: on some drives, warning lights are absent at startup an
... d appear after several minutes of driving; on other occasions the warnings appear immediately at startup; duration before onset varies from trip to trip. This vehicle falls within the range covered by a prior Honda recall (Recall 19-020 / NHTSA Campaign for 2019-2020 Passport) addressing software programming errors in the front control module causing improper display of instrument panel and delayed or missing rearview camera images. The current failure presents similar camera-related safety system symptoms. A dealership inspection recommended replacement of the multipurpose camera unit at an estimated cost of approximately $2,000, without confirming the root cause of the failure. Safety concern: Loss of ACC, LKAS, and related driver-assist camera systems while driving, with warnings appearing unpredictably during operation, some minutes into a drive rather than at startup, suggesting a fault that may not always be evident during a pre-drive check.Read more

I am filing this complaint against Keeler MINI in Latham, NY, and MINI USA regarding their refusal to provide a working recall remedy or alternative transportation under federal NHTSA Safety Recall 23V-337 (Footwell Control Module Moisture Intrusion). Keeler MINI claims the recall repair will take four weeks due to parts delays, yet they explicitly refuse to provide a dealer loaner or authorize a rental vehicle while holding my disabled car. Representatives from MINI USA Corporate explicitly confirmed to us that under official Service Bulletin SI B61 05 23, this recall qualifies for Alternative Mobility Solutions (AMS) rental reimbursement, and a MINI Regional Director confirmed I should receive a loaner. However, Keeler MINI's service staff refuses to issue a vehicle, screening our calls, ignoring repeated messages, and refusing to let us speak with service management. I am an elderly consumer with significant medical needs. Being left completely stranded without transportation for nearly a month has forced me to miss multiple critical specialist medical appointments (including follow-ups for a TIA/stroke, ophthalmology, physical therapy, and nephrology). Three NHTSA safety recalls are open and unremedied on my 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S: 25V896 (high-voltage battery — cell-module short circuit / fire risk), 24V732 (battery inspection, cell-module replacement, software update), and 24V455 (front brake hoses — cracking and brake-fluid leakage). Open status is confirmed by the manufacturer's own lookup at [XXX] as of XXX. The recalls cannot be compl
... eted because the manufacturer's authorized network refuses to confirm or schedule the work. The vehicle originated in the US and is now registered in [XXX]. In December 2025 the authorized dealer (Winner Porsche Center Kyiv Airport) refused, stating recalls are performed only for vehicles originally sold on the local market. I escalated to Porsche AG in XXX; the case was reviewed by Porsche Central and Eastern Europe and the official importer. After inspecting the vehicle in XXX, the dealer tried to condition recall work on my acceptance of unrelated paid repairs, and in XXX stated in writing that it reserves the right to refuse manufacturer campaigns due to "existing defects," without identifying any technical dependency between the cited findings and the recall work (brake-hose replacement and battery inspection/software are unaffected). A final written request with a 10-business-day deadline expired in XXX with no response from any Porsche entity. Safety risk: a battery fire risk and reduced front-brake performance remain unremedied on a vehicle in regular daily use. No warning lamps or symptoms; the risk arises from the unrepaired recall defects themselves. The refusal is confirmed in the dealer's written statements and documented in correspondence with Porsche AG, available on request. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My fiancé was driving my 2018 Honda Accord when the vehicle suddenly jolted violently while accelerating up a bridge. Immediately afterward, multiple warning lights, including the check engine light, came on and the vehicle lost all power. Thankfully, she was able to coast down the bridge and pull into an empty parking lot. This was extremely dangerous because the vehicle lost power while being d
... riven and could have caused a serious accident. After turning the vehicle off and restarting it, the car appeared to operate normally. Because the issue was intermittent, I initially suspected the battery. I had the battery tested multiple times, but it was fine. Since the problem continued, I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership. They diagnosed a blown head gasket and estimated the repair would cost approximately $6,000. The vehicle is only worth about $6,000, making the repair financially unreasonable. Apparently this is a known/common issue with 2018 Honda Accords. I requested Honda goodwill assistance, but Honda declined. I then took the vehicle to a second independent repair shop for another opinion. They advised that the head gasket needed for the vehicle was on back order and therefore could not provide a repair estimate. The fact that this replacement component is currently on back order is concerning and raises further questions about how frequently this repair is being needed. If Honda cannot keep enough replacement parts in stock to service affected vehicles, it further suggests that this may be a widespread issue that deserves additional investigation. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and has been inspected by both a Honda dealership and an independent repair shop. I am extremely concerned that a vehicle can suddenly lose all power while being driven and that a repair for a known/common issue costs nearly the entire value of the car. I believe this issue warrants further investigation by Honda and consideration of a recall or assistance.Read more

I am reporting a serious safety incident involving my 2024 Nissan Rogue, which caught fire after a history of shuddering, hesitation, and problems during acceleration. Prior to the fire, I brought the vehicle to a Nissan dealership multiple times because it had a recall and was shuddering during acceleration and at times felt as though it might stall. During these visits, the dealership performed
... recall related work, diagnostic testing, and repairs involving engine-related components. The vehicle continued to experience similar symptoms after the initial repairs, so I returned to the dealership for further evaluation. Additional work was performed after an intermittent misfire was identified, including replacement of a fuel injector and spark plug and further testing of ignition-related components. Despite these repairs, the vehicle continued to have problems. Shortly afterward, while I was driving, the Rogue experienced a significant loss of acceleration and power and subsequently caught fire. The vehicle sustained extensive fire damage and was ultimately declared a total loss by my insurance company. I am submitting this complaint because the fire occurred after repeated documented symptoms involving shuddering, hesitation, loss of acceleration, and an intermittent misfire, as well as multiple attempts by the dealership to diagnose and repair the problem. I believe this sequence of events should be reviewed by NHTSA to determine whether the fire and preceding loss of power may be related to a safety defect affecting this vehicle or other Nissan Rogues. I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2023 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly does not accelerate for up to 3 seconds while pressing the gas pedal, brakes either harshly or too soft at varying times, and very irregularly. This occurred while accelerating onto the highway, and almost ever
... y time I am braking at a stop sign or light, creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration, propulsion, or deceleration. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM flares, delayed engagement, unexpected gear changes, harsh downshifts, lurching, or loss of propulsion. This is a safety concern, not merely a transmission quality or reliability issue. Unexpected loss of propulsion or unpredictable shifting while merging, accelerating into traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, traveling at highway speeds, slowing down, and stopping, can create a collision hazard. Because I personally experienced this unexpected transmission event, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed.Read more

My 2016 Honda Civic seems to have a 'sticky steering' issue. It is most noticeable when trying to stay straight in a lane, like when trying to make minor adjustments left or right, it would feel like the steering wheel will stick, causing it to jerk more in the direction I’m trying to steer, which causes slight over steering and having to correct back the other direction. It doesn’t happen all

Delayed/unexpected transmission gear changes. The transmission delays downshifts at slow speeds causing the vehicle to not accelerate when acceleration is needed. This causes a huge safety issue when maneuvering in traffic (for example). Please help me with a solution to this.

My 2019 Toyota Highlander has the same UA80 transmission that Toyota was required to fix under CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM ZJC, which covers 2017-2018, the transmission has the same whining noise and shifting issues. Toyota must accept responsibility for their manufacturing error where the washer tab was not bent properly, allowing a nut to loosen leading to the whining noise. I expect the NHTS to

On July 31, 2026, while traveling approximately 55 mph on a Maryland highway, my 2025 Toyota RAV4 unexpectedly lost power and shut off while in motion. There was no check-engine warning before the failure. The vehicle became disabled in a travel lane. Police responded, and the lane had to be closed because the vehicle could not be safely moved. There was no crash, fire, or injury. The vehicle was
... taken to an authorized Toyota dealership. The dealer documented that it had “shut off mid drive,” reported finding no codes in the engine ECU, and performed service campaign 26TC03 concerning an incorrect mass airflow sensor reading. The dealer replaced a radiator air guide and stated that the vehicle should return for further diagnosis if it stalled again. On August 2, only approximately 36 miles after that service, the vehicle failed to restart at approximately 40,529 miles and required a jump. LTA and pre-collision system malfunction warnings appeared. The pre-collision warning returned while the vehicle was moving, and the Toyota connected app also recorded the malfunction. The vehicle was then towed back to the dealership and is available for inspection. The cause remains unknown. The concern involves an intermittent engine shutdown/no-start condition, a possible 12-volt electrical or charging-system failure, and the loss of forward-collision and lane-assistance functions. The dealer’s prior multipoint inspection marked the battery as acceptable, but no actual CCA battery-test result was documented.Read more
