While driving at a high rate of speed propulsion to the vehicle suddenly and without warning ceased, the electric and internal combustion engine were non-responsive (ICE stopped; hybrid motor didn't provide propulsion), the warning light said "Check Hybrid System. Turn off engine" I was put at risk because I was traveling at highway speed and was given no warning before the vehicle shut down. Th
... is has occurred nine times, I've reported all to Hyundai, they have had the car in the shop three times, the issue is not fixed. No, despite ODB2 error codes, the car has not shut down while a dealership is driving it. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected multiple times by Hyundai. Yes, always "Check Hybrid System. Turn off engine", in almost all cases the check engine light comes on after that, and in some cases additional lights such as "auto hold". This first occurred in Dec 2023, I was told the car was fixed (it wasn't) and happened again in October 2024. I haven't been able to drive my car since then.Read more

We bought the car in January . When going through our regular car wash, we heard a boom on the roof. We looked and saw no damage. Went through again last week and heard it again. We expressed our concern to the manager who sat in the back as we went through again. She held her hand on the roof as it went through the drying cycle and felt it cave in and pop out. She said this has happene

I was turning into a parking spot in front of the entry doors to a Sheetz convenience store. I was slowing down, and had gotten halfway into the space. All of a sudden, the car surged forward, went over the curb and hit the bollard in front of the parking space. It was hit with such force that the bollard bent and went under our car. My memory is that I was pressing on the brake very hard, once
... the acceleration started. My husband was in the car with me and can attest to all that I have stated. If that bollard had not been there, and stopped my car, I feel certain that my car would have crashed into the store, seriously injuring (or killing) us and those inside the store. We are planning to report the accident to Volkswagen, and to request that they test the "black box" inside the car, to see if they can find out what went wrong. I have spoken to someone in the Sheetz corporate office , and she told me that they have a video recording of the event. She said she observed my car entering the parking space very slowly, and that the car suddenly accelerated. She is planning to provide that video to State Farm Insurance, our insurance company. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures, myself, of the damage to the front of the car. But we will be requesting that the collision repair shop take pictures before the car gets dismantled for repair. We do not recall hearing any warning signals of the impending crash, and certainly did not experience any emergency braking. The airbags did not deploy.Read more

I was driving my car as usual and it began overheating. I took it to the mechanic and they could not find a coolant leak, even though the coolant was all gone. We added more coolant and I was on my way. A few weeks later, the same thing happened. The mechanic said to take it to the dealer because they would need to run a diagnostic. I took it to the dealer and they said there were some new recalls
... that needed to be repaired that could fix the issue. They did the recalls, I topped off my coolant, and I was on my way. One week later, while picking up my son from school, the engine had a catastrophic failure. This was not only dangerous to me and my kids, but to those around me. The car stopped and refused to start up again mid-driving. I had it towed to the Dealer (Kia of Carson) and they rand diagnostics. A few days later they send me a quote for $10K to replace the engine as well as the muffler system - more than the current market value of the car. The car has just over 70K miles on it, and since I bought it used from Carvana, it was not under Kia's warranty. This is NOT how things should be. They should not be allowed to put vehicles that break down like this and then charge people outrageous amounts for it with no compromise whatsoever. How can the engine be worth more than the whole car? I've talked with Kia customer service and they don't care. I've spent months trying to reason with them, but to no avail. Also, upon research online, there are tens of thousands of Kia Niro (and other kia car model) owners who've had the same problem - overheating that turns into engine failure. This is a systemic problem with a fraudulent company that is destroying the lives of their customers. This experience put my family in danger and has essentially ruined my life since it happened. I hope the NHTSA can do something about this!Read more

We have been experiencing multiple electrical and mechanical issues with our brand new 2025 Lincoln Aviator since we bought it approximately 4 months ago. The car frequently fails to start, with at least ten or more instances of this problem. We have taken it to the dealership two or three times, but despite their claims that the issue has been fixed, the problem recurs within a week or two from p
... icking the car up from the dealer. There was a time when the car has shut off while stopped at a traffic light, and when the light turns green, it won’t restart. In some cases, it has taken anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours before the car would finally start again. Additionally, various warning signals appear on the dash cluster, including alerts about the emergency brakes and collision warning system not functioning properly. Additionally, we experienced issues where the car doors won't open right away due to this mechanical issue. This is a serious safety hazard, as the car shutting off unexpectedly in traffic puts us at significant risk. It is especially concerning because this is our family vehicle, and we frequently travel with two infants in car seats and our elderly parents. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, the issue persists. We even reached out to the parent company, Lincoln/Ford, and they essentially told us that there is nothing they can do, this is a "known issue with the 2025 Lincoln Aviator". After researching online, we found that other 2025 Lincoln Aviator owners have reported similar electrical and mechanical problems. We are extremely concerned for our safety and fear that this issue could lead to a serious accident. However, this is our only vehicle, leaving us with no alternative but to continue driving it despite the risks. Please note, as I type this message, we have an appointment this week to drop the car off again for service.Read more

This has previously been reported, but NHTSA email indicated I needed to file formal complaint. Fuel injector(s) leaked while vehicle parked overnight in driveway. ECU detected fuel and subsequent ignition/spark caused "explosion' blowing out engine intake manifold (appx 50-75 pieces found). All 6 injectors and intake manifold required replacement. When coming to a stop at various speeds the car will sometimes surge during the braking process. It feels like either a brief acceleration or a release of the brakes. It then continues to brake as normal. It is an intermittent issue and can occur when coming to a slow stop or at faster stops. It started in November of 2023, and started happening only once a week or so. As time went on, it became m
... ore frequent until it was happening several times a day. By the summer of 2024, the Toyota dealership was finally able to replicate it, and they fixed it with a “computer update” as best I understood. The problem was fixed for a while but began again a few months later. The frequency at this time , early 2025, is every 1-2 days. I have returned multiple times to Toyota, and they have no fix since they have not been able to replicate it this time. I have pointed out to them that they did replicate it when they had previously fixed it. This issue presents a danger when the driver is coming to a stop. The first time it happened my reaction was to move my foot to the accelerator and I jumped a small curb. Although I am prepared now for this to happen, it is possible my instinctive reaction could happen again, resulting in a collision or injury. There are multiple forums and I see multiple complaints on this website, but I see no investigation cases. Please help me understand why this safety issue has not been investigated.Read more

Dealership Responsible: Ted Britt Ford of Chantilly Dealership Address: 4175 Auto Park Cir, Chantilly, VA 20151 Complaint Details: I purchased a 2018 Lincoln Navigator L Black Label, and since then, I have experienced multiple serious mechanical failures due to an improperly performed cam phaser repair by Ted Britt Ford of Chantilly in 2020. The dealership’s service depart
... ment performed a faulty installation, which resulted in: •Missing and broken screws in the cam phaser system •Jerking, rattling, and acceleration issues •Significant engine damage requiring a complete short block replacement As a result of this in negligent repair, In 2024 I had to replace the cam phaser again, along with replacing the short block of the engine due to the extensive damage caused by the dealership’s poor workmanship. In addition to this issue, I have faced multiple other failures, including: •Valve body replacement •Wastegate failure •Rear heat stopped working •Steering column failure These problems have caused frequent breakdowns and safety concerns, making the vehicle unreliable. The constant need for repairs raises serious questions about the quality of Lincoln’s engineering and service network. This issue is not an isolated incident, and I strongly urge NHTSA to investigate potential defects in the 2018 Lincoln Navigator and to hold dealerships accountable for performing unsafe and defective repairs. Requested Action: I request an investigation into the faulty cam phaser repair process and whether similar issues are being reported by other 2018 Lincoln Navigator owners. This could indicate a larger systemic defect or a trend of poor-quality repairs in Ford/Lincoln service centersRead more
