Vehicle Information: * Year: 2021 * Make: Genesis * Model: G80 * Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] ] * Mileage at time of incident/problem start: Approximately 26,377 miles Problem Description: The issue began around [XXX]. When pressing the brake pedal, whether the vehicle is completely stopped or while driving, a distinct clicking or ratcheting sound is heard. The sound is clearly audi
... ble inside the cabin and is slightly louder when listening under the hood. The sound appears to be originating from an area near a valve or other component (possibly related to the brake booster or ABS system). The sound is always present when the brake pedal is depressed, regardless of the amount of pressure applied (whether pressed firmly or smoothly) or the state of the engine (the sound occurs even when the engine is off). Currently, the brakes function and the vehicle is able to stop. There are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard indicating a fault in the brake system or any other system. Actions Taken So Far: The vehicle has not been taken for service regarding this specific issue yet. I have a scheduled appointment with an official Genesis dealer on the upcoming [May 7, 2025] to have the problem inspected and diagnosed. Reason for Submitting This Report: Although the brakes are currently functional, this unusual and persistent sound from the brake pedal is a significant concern and suggests a potential malfunction in a core component of the braking system. Since brake issues directly relate to the safety of the occupants and other road users, I have decided to report this potential defect to NHTSA for documentation and to contribute to any future investigations regarding the safety of the 2021 Genesis G80 model. Subject: Recall Denial Due to Salvage Title – 2012 Kia Optima (VIN:[XXX]) Dear NHTSA, I am submitting a complaint regarding Kia Motors’ refusal to perform a recall repair on my 2012 Kia Optima (VIN: [XXX]) due to the vehicle having a rebuilt title. My vehicle is equipped with the 2.4L GDI Theta II engine, which has been recalled for known safety defects including risk of engine seizure and
... fire. I brought my car to a local Kia dealership for the recall repair, but they refused service based solely on the vehicle having a branded (salvage) title. I then contacted Kia Consumer Affairs and was again told that the recall does not apply to salvage vehicles—even though the engine defect clearly stems from poor design and is unrelated to any prior accident or title status. I am concerned that Kia is ignoring its obligations under federal recall law and putting drivers like myself at risk. Denying a recall based solely on a salvage title—especially when the defect has nothing to do with the car’s condition—undermines public safety. I respectfully ask the NHTSA to investigate Kia’s refusal and consider whether policies like this should be permitted under federal recall enforcement standards. I was driving my vehicle on the highway when all of a sudden I started to lose speed and my car wouldn’t accelerate. When my vehicle wouldn’t accelerate it started to shake significantly and the check engine, abs, traction control, and service stabilitrak light came on all at once. I was able to pull over and get my car towed to the dealership. Once it was at the dealership it was diagnosed th
... at my car had jumped time causing a misfire in cylinder 4. My dealership stated this was due to low oil and my piston had become warped due to making contact with my valve. My car had no check oil warnings or any indication that vehicle was low on oil prior to this happening. My vehicle drove perfectly fine until that point. My vehicle also had no oil leaks (confirmed by myself not seeing any leaks under my vehicle as well as the dealership when they did the diagnostics). Before I bought my vehicle I did research and knew this model vehicle had oil consumption issues, so I made sure to routinely check my oil levels. Even with getting oil changes approximately every 3,000 miles and checking my oil levels and topping off my oil whenever it got less then 5 quarts I still had to get a total engine replacement. This was a huge safely issue since there was no warning that my oil was low and my car lost speed on the highway and was trying to stall out before I had a chance to pull off to safe place.Read more

1st Engine Failure Dec 2021 due to coolant intrusion and the long block engine needed to be replaced. After the repair I came to look at it & I found, Bolts were missing—including from the undercarriage, battery mount, & power steering reservoir, splash guard, inner wheel well shield. Tools (10mm Snap-on socket & unidentified loose bolts) were left inside the engine bay. The coolant hose came lo
... ose, which your team tried to charge $4,000 to fix, despite it being clearly related to poor installation of the engine. The engine mounts—normally last 10-14 yrs before needing to be replaced—suddenly failed. Wiring harnesses weren’t secured, not informed of new engine warranty coverage being only for 1 yr. 2nd Engine Failure (Dec 2024): Less than 22k miles later, the engine failed again—this time 4 months outside the so-called 1-yr warranty that I was never told about. Now, I’m expected to pay out of pocket for another engine, which would conveniently include a 3-yr warranty this time. Why wasn’t the 1st replacement engine covered under the same terms? Purchased with: 45,000 miles 1st engine failed at: 53,594 miles, Coolant hose/engine mount issues: 61,000 miles, 2nd engine failed at: 84,193 miles if inspection is needed, I have photos. It has been confirmed by northpark lincoln dealership. It was inspected by the manufacturer and other mechanics, not affiliated with dealership. No warning signs no warning lamps no codes thrown no nothing until the loss of acceleration and torque combined with the amount of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe in the middle of the summer. It was the only notification it was too late by that point the damage has been done. On both occasions, the exact same thing happened no warning lights no check engine lights no MIL lights, or codes thrown just simply a huge cloud of dust coming from the tailpipe, and you lose almost all power and acceleration. Symptoms appeared after the damage had been done so no way to tell that something wrong prior.Read more

The grab handle on drivers side that is put there to assist the driver to enter the vehicle is the issue. On 4/17/2025 I was attempting to enter my truck. I am severely disabled. As I was pulling myself in the entire
... handle detached from the A pillar sending me into a bad fall onto my driveway. Luckily I was not seriously injured. I'm 6'4 190 pounds, so its not like I'm terribly heavy. The next day I went to see just what happened and removed the the handle assembly. I was shocked to find that it is not attached to the steel A pillar. A steel plate is attached to the pillar under the handle but the handle is anchored to that plate only by two plastic wells that the screws go through. Both of the bottoms of those wells broke clean off which then allowed the entire assembly to pull away from the A pillar. I did some research and there is like a 5 year period of this being a known issue. I found dozens of examples of the exact same failure online. There is no "better" replacement part available either. I'm shocked that Ford would not secure this handle into the frame. Something thats meant to assist people entering the vehicle that will be pulled on anchored with PLASTC?? Ford needs issue a recall for this and provide a fix. If i had been 4 inches closer to my brick wall corner of my house I would not be here now to report this. I have included pics. the red circled parts are the plastic that hold the handle to the pillar that broke.Read more

While traveling out of state, my 2024 Honda Prologue became nearly inoperable due to a system failure. The vehicle suddenly stopped accepting a charge at any public charging station and displayed multiple warning messages, including: “Service High Voltage System,” “Service Vehicle Soon,” and “Charging System Problem.” There were no prior symptoms or warning lights before this occurred
... . The messages appeared abruptly during a multi-hour drive home from a trip. I was able to reach the nearest Honda dealership safely, but I was forced to leave the vehicle there, far from home, because it was no longer able to charge and could not be driven further with confidence. The issue was confirmed by the dealership’s service department, who diagnosed the problem as a high-voltage battery failure requiring full battery replacement. The service team advised that repairs would take at least three weeks. I was not offered a loaner vehicle or transportation support, and I had to secure and pay for a rental vehicle just to return home. As a result, I currently have no reliable form of transportation, and Honda is not providing a rental or loaner vehicle during this extended warranty-covered repair. Furthermore, I was informed by Honda Financial Services that even if the vehicle remains out of service for over a month, I am still expected to continue making monthly lease payments on a car I cannot drive. This situation presents a serious safety and consumer protection concern, as the vehicle suffered a sudden loss of essential EV function without warning and left me stranded out of state.Read more
