I WAS SMELLING GAS FROM MY 2007 MKX. I CHECKED UNDER THE CAR FOR LEAKS AND DIDN'T SEE ANY. WHEN I GOT HOME LATER THAT DAY, I STARTED DOING RESEARCH ON-LINE AND FOUND MANY MKX/EDGE OWNERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FUEL TANK. I CALLED LINCOLN AND THEY OPENED A CASE #. I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK TO THE MECHANIC ON 7/8 AND HE ADVISED ME THAT THE SEALING RING WAS CRUSHED. HE EXPLAINED IT WAS FROM CORROSION DUE TO THE ETHANOL AND IT WAS VERY COMMON. HE ORDERED THE PARTS AND TOLD ME THE TRUCK WOULD BE READY ON THE 7/9. TODAY, 7/9 MY MECHANIC CALLED ME TO GET THE OK TO FILL THE TANK. HE CALLED ME BACK SHORTLY TO LET ME KNOW HE FOUND A BIGGER PROBLEM. HE ADVISED WHEN HE FILLED THE TANK, HE FOUND THE FUEL LEAKING FROM THE SEAM ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TANK. HE ADVISED THIS WAS NOT COMMON. HE ALSO ADVISED HE LOOKED UP THE TANK'S PART # AND FOUND THERE WAS A REVISION/UPDATE TO THE PART BUT IT DID NOT STATE WHAT IT WAS. HE ADVISED ME TO GET ON THE PHONE WITH LINCOLN AND HAVE THEM COME OUT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE TANK. I SPOKE WITH LINCOLN RELATIONS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DON'T DO THAT. I'M VERY UPSET WITH LINCOLN. THE CAR HAD TO BE JACKED UP AND THE WHEEL/TIRE HAD TO BE HELD IN PLACE BY HAND AND ROTATED SLOWLY OFF THE RAMP . UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT IS NOTICED THAT ONLY THE TOP PORTION OF THE BRAKE CALIPHER ASSEMBLY WAS HOLDING THE WHEEL ALL ALONG. THE JACK HAD TO BE LEFT IN PLACE BECAUSE THE WHEEL/TIRE WAS NOT STABLE. ALSO, GREASE WAS SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR WHEEL; 3 WHEEL BEARINGS SEEMED MISSING, THE AXLE WAS COMPLETELY DISENGAGED (CLEAN-CUT THROUGH) FROM THE PORTION OF THE WHEEL/TIRE ASSEMBLY, INCLUDING THE WHEEL BREAK CYLINDER AND THE OTHER PORTION OF THE AXEL WAS LODGED IN THE AXLE/DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING UNIT.
