My vehicle caught fire a few days after being repaired by a licensed repair shop in California.
The repair was performed by: Brodie's Tire & Automotive
Address: 1276 Petaluma Blvd N, Petaluma, CA 94952
Phone: [XXX] After the fire, the repair shop admitted in writing that: • The intake manifold melted after the fire
• The engine became “not repairable”
• The fire occurred short

• They offered to “fix it for free,” which indicates awareness of responsibility The fire caused severe heat damage to the engine compartment, electrical wiring, and surrounding components. The vehicle became unsafe to drive, and the engine can no longer operate. This incident presents a serious safety hazard because the fire happened shortly after a repair that involved components near the engine and fuel system. Improper or unsafe repair work may cause similar fires for other consumers. This incident is already under active investigation by: • California Department of Insurance (CDI) – Complaint #XXX• California Bureau of Automotive Repair (DCA/BAR) – Case No: XXX I am reporting this to NHTSA because the fire and melted engine components indicate a dangerous defect tied to improper repair work, which may pose a risk to other drivers. Pre Collision System light on dash, abs lights, traction lights etc Error Code C1391which requires a Brake Booster pump AND a Brake booster pump kit due to a MALFUNCTION which should be manufacturers responsibility. They launched a customer support program for a very short period (you had to have the error during this short time) and EXCLUDED all HS250h from the Secondary Coverage period by no
... ting expiry if vehicle is over 10years which they were past that at the time of LAUNCHING THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM which is completely unethical and negligent to their customers. I was never notified of this program. This short time frame under the program leaves MOST customers with these vehicles at risk. A safety RECALL should've been done as this is a big safety issue. It is not safe to drive with a bad brake booster because it significantly compromises your vehicle's braking power, making it dangerous. A failing brake booster can cause a vacuum leak, which can lead to the engine stalling when you apply the brakes. Unreliable and worsening problem: The issue is likely to get worse over time, and you could be caught off guard by a complete failure, leaving you with dangerously unreliable brakes. Vehicle has been inspected by Lexus and Toyota, both quoting astronomical fees associated with Brake booster replacement due to malfunction. Lexus Customer Brand Support was of no help, just repeatedly stating that the program expired and that it is up to me if i want to pursue legal action because this needs to be resolved by lexus. There have been class action suits and accidents due to this malfunction and I will pursue legal action as this is complete negligence by Lexus.Read more

In October 23, 2025 I started to notice a fuel smell while I was driving the vehicle. So I made an appointment with Kia of Stockton and they scheduled me for 10/29/26 at 9:30am. Kia first diagnosis was undetermined and charged me another $315 just to keep diagnosing on top of there first fee of $315. Kia discovered after removing the foam that protects the fuel rail the leak was coming from fuel injectors and fuel rail. Fuel injector leaking where injector inserts into rail. Repair was needed due to failure of fuel rail housing not sealing properly. Kia also replaced associated components with the fuel rail clips, bolts, flanges, high pressure sensor, foam, and injector wire harness. "The vehicle has developed a recurring ticking/knocking noise in the engine, worsening under acceleration, accompanied by excessive oil consumption. This is a repeat issue after a warranty repair on June 6, 2022, where all 8 lifters on the right bank were replaced due to AFM/DFM lifter failure. GM 6.2 engine recently tested for the national recall regarding valve and lifter issues. Recall was cleared as ok, but they found burnt cylinders in multiple areas within the engines. Several issues are still occurring with this engine, and I think most are related to the recall effort. 1. Engine will use oil at an abnormal pace when towing anything heavy. Recently used an additional 2 quarts of
... oil when towing a trailer that weighed 10, 000 pounds over 1600 miles. 2. Recently engine seemed to lose compression at a stop light and turned off. This happened an additional 5 times until I could get the truck off the road and into a safe place. The engine would immediately start and then die within 5-10 seconds. Towed to a Chevrolet dealership and the service manager tried to move it into the bay for diagnostic testing. started and stopped 4 additional times as they attempted to drive if 100 feet into the service bay. Towed to my hometown dealer that afternoon for diagnostics testing. The next morning when they started the truck it cranked fine and has been running since (7 days). No lights appeared on the dash during the breakdown or warnings appeared in their testing I have spoken to several other Chevrolet owners about the 6.2 engine issues and what was occurring with my truck They also had seen an increase in oil usage when towing heavy. I believe that your investigation needs to delve further into not only issues with the lifter / rods but also into other mechanical concerns that are oil dependent and related such as burnt cylinders. This last issue occurred on October 27, 2025.Read more

I have a 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail with about 4,500 miles on it bought in December 2024. I went to start it this afternoon and I got a message saying "Low Steering Power". All the electrical things on the car seemed to be working: lights, dash lit up, courtesy lights, all the screens, etc. It just wouldn't turn over. I shut the car off and gave it a minute or two then tried again. Nothing.
... At the same time, the car started to make a low, continuous humming sound and made a couple of clicking noises about every 10 seconds. It sounded like the hum of a refrigerator and seemed to be coming from the front half of the car. The car was totally turned off at this time. I then called Lexus Roadside assistance (the car was in my garage; hadn't used it in about 48 or so hours). When the flatbed driver arrived he tried to start it a few times. When he did this the car began to smoke from the fuse box. A significant amount of acrid smoke and severe odor of burning plastic developed. The flatbed driver and I immediately pushed the car out of the garage for fear of a fire starting and engulfing more than just the car. The fuse box and some of the fuses in it were melting. No flames developed but I'm quite certain that was a possibility. This just happened today. The dealer said they are going to begin investigating the issue. I'm very concerned that if others have this problem it could develop into something more serious. From what I've discovered from an internet search is that the combination of the "Low Steering Power" error message and the smoking fuse box condition "indicates a likely electrical short or significant component failure that could lead to a fire." I've uploaded a pic of the partially melted fuse box. I have no paperwork from the dealer service department as yet.Read more

Parking brake on the jeep automatically engaged while driving. Had vehicle towed to dealership where a new parking brake switch was installed and programed and told it was ready to go. Took it back to the dealership and they said water had gotten into the back area and corroded the parking brake module and the
... connector. They wanted to charge me $2500 to fix. I took the vehicle home and parked it and started doing research. This is a known problem that could affect 1.2 million vehicles. My jeep only has 73,500 miles on it and is regularly serviced. It's driven roughly 4 miles a day. This is a safety issue so why isn't there a recall on it. It is a defect in design not a consumer made issue.Read more
