While driving 65-70mph on the freeway, the car started dinging and one of the first messages that we saw was "pre-collision system malfunction" & "hybrid system malfuncion" followed by every other "system malfunction" and the gas pedal was no longer supplying gas to the car. ... ook the exit and coasted as far as we could before the car came to a halt. Another car stopped to help us get completely off the road since we weren't fully in the emergency lane. After a few minutes we were able to crank the car and drive it a few miles to the dealership. We left the car at the dealership and they called the next day to inform us that the fuel pump had to be replaced. I did not find this vehicle to be part of any recall or lawsuit but several other Lexus models are part of a recall/lawsuit due to a problem with the Denso fuel pump. I'm not sure if my car has this same fuel pump. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.Read more

The dashboard of our 2009 Lexus RX350 has developed multiple severe cracks horizontally and vertically. The dashboard has also become very hard. The cracks are deep and appear to extend the full depth of the dash down to the underlayment. ... er they contact. In 2015 we received a Warranty Enhancement Notification from Lexus concerning a 'cosmetic' problem involving 'cracked and/or sticky/melting dashboards'. Lexus offered to replace the dashboard free of charge, but only through May 31, 2017. We did not experience our problem until late 2020 when we started parking the Lexus outdoors. Lexus now says that this is still a cosmetic problem and has offered to cover half of the dashboard replacement. We do not understand why Lexus was willing to pay the full cost of replacing a 'cosmetic' problem but now offers only 50% for a safety problem.Read more

The wiring harness for the front passenger airbag was recalled by lexus because it is too short and frequently becomes disconnected which disables the front passenger airbag and cause the air bag light to turn on on the instrument panel. The letter they sent me also had no markings to indicate it was a recall or that the information inside was important in any way so the letter was easily ignored. I spoke with a lexus dealership and lexus corporate and they both refused to perform the safety repair because I was about 2 to 3 months past their deadline (June 2020?). As a result, my front passenger air bag is inoperable and any front riding passenger in my vehicle is at a greatly increased safety risk in the event of a serious crash. Lexus admitted the problem with their wiring harness and instituted a recall, so I don't think it is fair for them to potentially sacrifice the lives and the safety of my front riding passengers because of a superficial deadline. I would appreciate any help you could provide in convincing lexus to honor their safety recall for my vehicle. Thank you.Read more

On April 29 while travelling on I185 toward Columbus, GA I heard a loud noise followed by the sound of crumbled glass. When I could find a safe place to pull over, I looked and discovered that my moonroof had shattered. Had the curtain under the moonroof had not been drawn, I would have been hit with the shattered glass, probably resulting in my loss of control over the vehicle at interstate speed

They contacted the Lexus regional manager, who denied Lexus' responsibility for the failure. I did, (and needed to) have the moonroof repaired by the dealership. I also contacted Lexus Corporate office by phone, and sent them by email a copy of photos of the broken moonroof and the invoice for the repair. They passed my inquiry down to the regional manager (again) who again denied Lexus responsibility for the failure. The failure occurred in fair weather on a highway with very little traffic, trees or overpasses, and there was no reason to believe that any outside forces caused the failure. I feel that this potentially dangerous failure is a result of poor manufacture or design.Read more

... tarted experiencing an extreme fuel odor after a decline AND each time car was started (noticeable only with windows down). No warning lights, system reported no issues. Independent mechanic found a leaking fuel injector (port on that side is "clean".) (Lexus dealerships found no issues). Replaced fuel injector, no change in fuel smell, strong as ever. Neither Lexus or Independent mechanic can determine what is wrong. Pandemic happened and I only drive the car once a week to the grocery store, strong fuel smell on startup still happens. (Haven't been on any incline/declines). 5/9/21, filled gas tank, started car, made 2 stops before heading home, "Check engine, Check VSC" and a myriad of lights came up on dash. (Total of 3 startups after filling tank, lights came on after 3rd start). WE THEN HAD TO PAY FOR THE COMPANY TO COME BACK AND FILL IT IN. TWO AND HALF WEEKS LATER, I TOOK MY CAR TO A CAR WASH. EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING WHEN I WOKE UP TO FIND A SIGNIFICANT CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD. WE HAD TO PAY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED. THE COMPANY REPLACED IT WITH AN ORIGINAL LEXUS WINDSHIELD WHICH CAME STRAIGHT FROM THE LEXUS FACTORY. I DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS, AND I LEFT IT IN MY GARAGE. HOWEVER, SHE COULD NOT PROVIDE A REASON FOR THE SHRINKAGE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES THIS SO I CAN DECIDE WHETHER TO CONTINUE PUTTING MONEY INTO THIS CAR. THIS DOES SEEM RIGHT TO ME.
