I leased a 2019 Lexus ES300H in March of 2019. About 1 year later, the vehicle started having serious mechanical issues related to the power of the vehicle and put my life in danger on 3 different occasions. The vehicle has a serious problem with losing power. The very first time that this problem occurred, I was in the left only lane attempting to make a left turn. When it was safe to do so and t
... here was enough distance between me and the nearest vehicle driving in the opposite direction, I pressed on the accelerator to make a left turn and my vehicle suddenly lost almost complete power. I had the accelerator pressed all the way to the floor and the vehicle was barely moving like 3-5 miles per hour. Me and the other vehicle that was coming kind of fast in the opposite direction almost got into a head on collision. I would have very easily and safely, without even rushing, cleared the intersection and completed the left turn had this not happened. After collecting myself from the terrifying experience I just went through and having my life flash before my eyes, pulled over and called Lexus Roadside. They came and towed the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer kept the vehicle for some time, but was not able to duplicate the problem and told me that there is nothing with the vehicle. Regardless of how much I insisted that they do further tests, they refused and told me that the mechanic he driven it home at night and back in the morning and could not duplicate the issue and that if I didn't come to pick up the vehicle, they would park it on the street where it would be subject to tow. After picking it up and literally after about 20 minutes of driving it, almost the same thing happened while I was on the freeway on my way home. The vehicle lost power again and I almost got into an accident. A similar incident occurred the third time. Took the vehicle to service 3 times. Brand engagement has not done a single thing. Lemon Law Department denied the case. Been paying.Read more

Around the middle of the month of January of 2022, I discovered that my 2016 Lexus RX350 has massive oil leak from timing chain cover. Thompson Lexus dealership confirmed this oil leak. Second, I have parked my car on my lawn, so that could not see oil drops. Third, I put my trust on Lexus and Toyota products, so I have not inspected for oil leak periodically. This oil leak has soaked many parts of the engine, frame, electrical connections, and possibly other moving parts such pulleys and belts. This can potentially create smoke or fire hazard and belt and pulley slippery which can lead to accidents. At the time of the oil leak, my car was under 54,000 miles and under 6 years, so it was still under powertrain warranty with is 6 years and 70,000 miles. I have contacted Lexus several times regarding this matter. I told them about location of the oil leak and when oil started leaking, my car was still under powertrain warranty but Lexus refused to pay for the timing cover repair. After doing research on RX350 from timing chain cover, I have found out that a lot of Lexus RX350 has developed oil leak from timing chain cover since year 2009 or 2010 model to 2016 year model. Some RX350 developed timing chain cover oil leak from a few thousand miles of first use to 38,000 miles. The passenger side airbag is shrinking and seems to be collapsing into the dashboard. There is an indicator light on the passenger side that is lit up noting that "airbag off," so apparently there is no airbag protection for passenger. Three days ago, the right side of the windshield - passenger side, and the passenger window and passenger side back seat window, were all moist and foggy in the mo

I don't know what this fluid/moisture is composed of, but I can only imagine it must be some type of chemical - something that you do not want to be leaking into the car on a daily basis.Read more

The brake booster pump/accumulator has a diagnosed internal leak. It is identical to Toyota Safety Recall 13V-235 for Certain 2010 Model Year HS250h Vehicles. The exact failure described is what my Lexus HS 250h is experiencing and the DTC code is C1391, which FOUR separate shops have verified. The recall listed DTC C1246 and C1256, yet the condition is that there is an internal leak and one must
... replace the booster pump master assembly. They describe it as following, "The subject vehicles are equipped with brake pressure accumulators consisting of a metal plunger containing brake fluid encased in a metal housing. The plunger is designed with metal pleated bellows to allow for motion. Nitrogen gas is sealed between the plunger and housing. There is a possibility that a fatigue crack could develop in the bellows due to the vertical vibration of the plunger while driving. If this occurs, nitrogen gas could leak into the brake fluid and gradually cause the brake pedal stroke to become longer, resulting in decreased hydraulic pressure. Under certain circumstances, this condition could affect stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash." I have record they did try a repair for this at 17 miles, before purchase, but it clearly DID NOT remedy the situation. After 80,000 miles with a gently driven car they should be required to :Replace the brake booster pump assembly (accumulator) AND the brake booster assembly. The remedy described in the recall information . Out of three repair shops, three have indicated that they cannot make the repair due to Lexus parts or warranty. It is at a Lexus repair presently.Read more

Hello, For over 2 years now, I have had to get oil added to my vehicle multiple times (estimated 2-3 times after my regular interval oil change of 5,000 miles. I get the warning message from the engine stating low oil. I have taken my vehicle to a Lexus dealership, Lexus of Huntsville, AL to try and see what the problem is as this keeps happening and is an ongoing problem. I was informed n
... o oil leak, but there is an internal problem in my opinion. I believe this is a safety defect as my engine could have major problems and possibly cause a fire, or harm to anyone in the vehicle. Also, I have spent additional money (estimated over $500.00 to get oil added in the amount of 2-3 quarts multiple times per every 5,000 mile oil change. I have recently called Lexus corporate (est 10 Jan 2022) and I getting no where as they asked me to go to the Lexus dealer and have it checked, but I have already done this a few times already with no success in fixing the problem. I believe the lack of oil is causing internal damage to my engine or some other possible major problem. The action I would like completed by Lexus would be to repair this problem at their own cost. I have over 179,915 miles on my vehicle now and want to continue to keep for a longer period of time. See some of my previous attached service history to see when the problem started. I had previously owned a 2018 Lexus RX350L that came with OEM Michelin Premier LTX tires. That car handled very well on rain, snow and ice. I eventually replaced those tires with Continental Crosscontact LX25 that were even better to the point that I woud say they were excellent on snow and ice. When I purchased my 2021 Lexus RX350 F Sport, it came with Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus tires in 235
... / 55 R 20. The Bridgestone tires were more prone to hydroplaning but I was able to adjust driving in wet rainy situations. The Bridgestone tires however are absolutely useless in even the slightest dusting of snow. They are prone to locking the Anti-Lock Brakes at single digit speeds and are resistant to making even slight turns or steering corrections. On the morning of February 6th 2021 I experienced driving in light snow for the first time with new car equipped with the Bridgestone tires. While making a right turn, I noticed that there was a multiple car accident on the road I was entering. As I had only begun to enter the turning lane, I decided to abort that turn. I attempted to ease the car back to the left but it would not correct. At this point, I was at single digit speeds already and I pressed the brakes. The Anti-Lock brakes locked and the car began sliding forward regardless of steering input. I released the brakes but they remained locked which I assume is because the car kept them applied because it was sliding. I slid into a car at the opposite stop light. After the accident, I drove to an empty parking lot and attempted snow driving maneuvers such as stopping slowly and making gentle turns. These tires proved incapable of the slowest, gentlest of maneuvers in a light snow situation. I am attaching both the Review and Ratings from the Tire Rack website which support that these "All Season" tires should likely not see rain and are most definitely dangerous if not deadly on snow and ice.Read more

While stopped at a stop light vehicle RPM went very high. It reached the red zone. Vehicle started moving forward (while still on Drive and the brake pedal fully pressed). I immediately put the vehicle in Park. RPM continued to remain high. I removed my foot off the brake when the vehicle was in park. I turned the engine off, waited couple of seconds and turned it back on. At that point everything
... worked normally. Outside temperature was about 38 deg F. Car was not fully warmed up at the time. Floor mat had nothing to do with this incident. After restarting the engine it is working fine without any adjustment to the floor mat. Incident could have resulted in major crash or injury. Luckily it happened when the vehicle was stopped at at red light. Putting the car in PARK and turning off the engine resolved the issue. This is a serious issue on 2012 IS250. Check engine light is not on. Vehicle will be taken to the Lexus dealer for checking. If the car was in drive, this kind of revving up of the engine would have caused serious accident. Also, if I had not put the car in Park, it would have overcome the braking power and pushed the car to the intersection at red light. Engine RPM went way too high (in the red zone). My 2013 Lexus LS460 with ~50,000mi had its brake actuator failed (C1391 - Leak in the accumulator). A month prior to code C1391 being triggered, the vehicle experienced inconsistent braking pressure with severe brake pedal modulation required to stop the vehicle. Traveling at speeds under 30 MPH the vehicle would intermittently hesitate to stop. Moreover, a squawk noise was present when depressing
... the brake pedal. Code C1391 was triggered on 11/18/2021. Upon contacting Lexus dealers and national customer service (Guest incident #211121-000001) to repair the part under warranty, Lexus denied warranty. Inquiry was also made for Lexus dealers and Lexus customer service as to the correct brake actuator part number required for replacement. Both Lexus dealers and national customer service provided the wrong/superseded replacement part number (i.e., part 44050-50110). Below is the customer's research model LS460 brake actuators: -Per 2016 ZLG warranty: 2007-2012 LS460 came with part 44050-50090, 44050-50130 to be replaced by 04003-45450 actuator. -Per 2016 LSB-0047-19: 2013-2017 LS460 came with part 44510-50070 and 44050-50110 to be replaced with the same model 44050-50110 actuator for brake squawk noise. -Per 2019 LSB-0047-19: 2007-2017 LS460 came with part 44050-50110, 44050-50130, 44050-50150, 44050-50170, 44050-50090 to be replaced with 44050-50170 if repairs fail to remedy the brake squawk noise. It appears Lexus has attempted to revised the brake actuator various times to arrive at part 44050-50170, for which continues to fail. It also appears many superseded units are still being sold as replacements for failed actuators online through Lexus dealerships and Lexus authorized retailers. It must also be noted that a failing brake actuator (even prior to code C1391) will cause the brake booster pump to prematurely fail as the brake booster has to constantly pressurize the system causing it to overheat. Both repairs are urgent costing $3000-3500 each.Read more

Upon entering a parking lot yesterday and heading down a small ramp my 2016 Lexus NX 200 spontaneously accelerated and even with my foot on the brake did not stop. I was unable to control my car and ending up hitting a tree. All of the airbags deployed; the windshield cracked; the body of the car was severely damaged and I suffered injuries. The car was brought to a body shop and is available for
... inspection. Fortunately, no other cars were in the parking lot and no one else was hurt. The car will be inspected over the next few days. There weren't any warning signs. I cannot say for sure what mechanical failure occurred to cause the accident, but there was clearly a mechanical failure as the acceleration was beyond my control.Read more
