This complaint is made regarding Hyundai recall 251 concerning the ABS module. I am the original owner of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra automobile. As of 12 March 2024, Hyundai Motor America has not been responsive to my inquiries when a remedy will be available. I have made numerous inquiries to the Hyundai dealer where I purchased the car, and to Hyundai Motors America. I have been forced to park
... the vehicle outside of my garage though a Colorado winter for fear of a fire caused by the ABS module malfunction. Hyundai's lack of action is aggravating for the extra wintertime vehicle maintenance this has caused. More importantly, I am reluctant to park this vehicle near other parked cars and buildings, and, taking the recall warning seriously, I am also unable to park the vehicle in public areas such as underground parking garages.Read more

There's a shuddering, clanking sound coming from the torque converter when the engine shifts gears at 25-35 mph. I also noticed that it happens when it transitions from 4 cylinders to 6 cylinders. There's a sweet spot somewhere in there. It has also happened on the highway from 65-75 mph. This also happens when it's switching from 4 cylinders to 6 cylinders.

I am writing to you regarding the vehicle safety which I became aware of recently but there was no solution provided. IF this happened to me, it can happen to anyone driving the same model and needs to be addressed as soon as possible before the fatality occurs as this is danger to the public.I was driving a vehicle on [XXX] after just picking it up from service (serviced at Ray Catena Lexus
... on [XXX] for 15,000 miles service and oil change) at the rate of speed approximately 65 mph. All of sudden the vehicle started making noises, transmission shifted from auto to lower manual gear and I was barely able to keep control of the vehicle. Luckily, I was able to pull over safely, turned it off, gave it some break and turned back on. Vehicle seemed to be operational and since I was close to the AmTrak train in Washington DC, I have decided to take the train as intended to Florida along with a vehicle. Upon arrival in Florida, I was able to take the vehicle to the dealership JM Lexus on [XXX]. I explained the problem and they checked the vehicle and released it to me shortly saying that there was nothing wrong. This dealership charged me $141.92. As I just left the dealership and got on the highway, the vehicle started to act up again. I was only able to take it back to the same dealership on [XXX], the mechanics did another check on the vehicle and discovered that the spiral cable had an oily residue on it and that was the reason for the electronic issue I was having, but that cable was not covered by the warranty and I was quoted $1,800.00 to get it fixed. Which is odd considering that not only did I buy out of this vehicle a few weeks prior but the vehicle was just serviced on [XXX] (with odometer reading at 12,728 miles) never giving any issues prior. After having a back and forth conversation, they dropped the price to nearly $1,000.00 but being concerned for my and my spouses safety, I had no choice but to pay. The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that during a routine oil change, the technician observed that the coolant level was low. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that coolant had intruded into cylinders #2 and #3 and that the head gasket was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised by the dealer that this was a known failure with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. However, many individuals reported that the recall immediately and irreversibly damaged their DAS computer, so Tesla offered them a free replacement without hassle. However, I have been struggling to work with Tesla's Carlsbad, California service center for over a week to get the DAS computer replaced at no cost, since the computer was damaged after an update caused the computer to become irreversibly damaged after their software update was installed -- a software update which was supposed to have made the Autopilot system safer, but which has instead unfortunately irreversibly damaged the Autopilot computer, and caused my vehicle to randomly and immediately weave towards a highway barrier at high speed. I am wrongfully being asked to pay in excess of $2500 for a replacement computer as a result of the update damaging the DAS computer. They claim the catch-all diagnosis of a "short circuit" internal to the DAS computer caused the damage which would be out of warranty, except the computer has never been opened by myself. They confirmed to me that they chose that diagnosis after a process of elimination without actually probing the electrical system within the computer. The Carlsbad service center refuses to give me an accurate estimate for any further engineering analysis, claiming it could take multiple hrs/days at $245/hr. This is extremely unreasonable and presents unlimited risk.Read more

6/15/23 @ 18,357 miles the car was given a four wheel alignment at the owners request. Due to loud tire noise and visible cupping on the right rear inside edge, it was clear the car's wheel alignment was wrong. The dealer's before and after alignment is attached. When presented the before and after, I noted RR Camber was.-2.3 vs. a range of -1.8 to -0.3 degrees. The reading was unchanged from
... initial. They advised me the camber cannot be adjusted and is "fixed" from the Factory. The form also read "One of more value are not within specification. Tire wear, handling and safety problems may result". But they had no remedy. I escalated at Dealer. Dealer opened a ticket with Toyota to look at my car. Of note, my Sister in Law's RAV4car has the same issue. I felt I had made my concerns clear and Toyota Corp would address. 2/1/24 At 30,345 the problem is still unresolved and dealer gave me Toyota Corp number and I opened case 240201000061. 4 calls later I am told to bring my car to dealer 2/20/24. Research shows TSB 0042-14 for earlier RAV4. My safety problem is not new to Toyota, it is just a later model. When I told Toyota Corp their response from 6/15/23 to 2/1/24 is unacceptable, they took no ownership. When I asked if I should drive an unsafe car they said it is my choice. When I advised them of the language from the dealer said the tires were unsafe, they said the Dealer is independent from Toyota. In short, the dealer is "Independent". Toyota has a problem with their design using a static camber strut which causes premature wear which can lead to a blow out as shown by forums. Toyota is only interested in getting the car to 36,000 miles and little focus on safe design. I was surprised not to see this already listed. Perhaps it exists under another year? I am limited on the use of my vehicle but have no choice as it is my only transportation, thank you.Read more
