On 3/5 we were out of state on vacation, after we completed shopping for the day I was placing my shopping bags in the trunk of the vehicle. My friend, unaware that I had not stepped out of the way activated the self closing trunk door. The door failed to detect that there was an obstruction (me) and closed striking me on the top left side of my head causing me to have a concussion. I was seen
... at my doctor's office days later due to the headaches and other symptoms from the injury and was diagnosed as resulting from a traumatic head injury. The door deactivated after striking me and had to be reset manually. However, my concern is that a sensor should have detected that there was an obstruction and stopped or not closed at all. Other makes and models will have an alarm and will not close when there is an obstruction. I called Land Rover today at 4:51 p.m. and the representative could not find anything in the owner's manual that stated there is a sensor of any type. The doctor placed me off of work but as I am my only source of income, I am unable to stop working in order to recover. My vehicle is available for inspection if needed.Read more

The contact owns a 2008 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that while entering the front passenger side of the vehicle and using the passenger side hand grip, the hand grip fractured. Due to the failure, the contact fell backwards out of the vehicle and landed on her head and back. With the assistance of another pedestrian and her husband, the contact was taken to the hospital where a cat

The contact called the dealer where she was informed that the hand grips were not used for assistance into the vehicle but only for going over bumps in the road. The contact stated that she then read the owners manual and none of that information was listed. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The lock mechanism on the passenger side door stopped working, the door will not open from the inside or outside. I have searched online and this seems to be a very common occurrence with this auto maker. The car was not hit, has not been damaged. I parked and my daughter was not able to get out of the vehicle, the door will unlatch and open about half an inch but then the soft close mechanism e
... ngages and will not allow the door to be opened any further and instead automatically closes the door. This is cause for concern because if I am driving and get hit on the driver side will be trapped in the car. My 2015 Supercharged Range Rover Sport 5.0L V8 has unexpected rhythmic body movements while stationary. One side goes up and down then the other side goes up and down. This repeats every few seconds the whole ride, obviously more noticeable when stopped. You don't know if the dynamic system is working or not. It can push your car further in to the turn when it does it on a turn. If you are used to
... the dynamic system you may not be prepared for this issue especially since you don't know it is not working properly. This problem is reproducible, it does it every time I start my vehicle. There were no warning signs or lights that alert you that there is even an issue. It scares people who are not expecting the jolt when riding inside. More seriously it is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen because it is a tripping hazard when getting into the vehicle or out of the vehicle. It has the chance to raise up or down the moment you go to get in or raise and lower when stepping out. This is dangerous for anyone. Especially the handicap or elderly, they can easily miscalculate the height and cause them to lose balance, considering the whole car becomes unstable at the same time. There was already a Land Rover Technical bulletin posted about this possible issue with 2014-15.My car exhibits this exact problem. My car isn't within that vin range. However, it's doing the same thing thats listed here, maybe there are more vehicles involved than they originally thought? I have a video to share, contact me for it since I cant share on here. This is what the land rover technical bulletin said: Situation: A potential issue has been identified with the Dynamic Response valve block on certain 2014-2015 Range Rover Sport (L494) and Range Rover (L405) vehicles (5.0L S/C V8 only) within the listed VIN ranges. Unexpected body movements when the vehicle is stationary may be experienced due to the system self-test pulse resulting in pressure in the actuators which is normally isolate from them.Read more

I agree with another poster about an issue. We experience this too with our 15' Range Rover Sport supercharged V8 5.0L Dynamic vehicle. There is a dangerous lag in the accelerator when starting from a stop, or a low speed turn. It happens every time I stop or when turning a corner. It is most dangerous when pulling out of a parking lot or cross street when oncoming traffic is coming and you need
... the car to respond accurately to your gas pedal input. Instead, the vehicle does nothing for 1-1. 5 seconds, then lurches forward. With a V8 510 HP engine thats quite a huge difference in jolt. It makes it extremely hard to gage appropriate pedal pressure. This creates a very dangerous situation when you commit to pull into traffic, hit the gas pedal, and the vehicle doesn't actually move until the delay. I'm sure it looks to on coming traffic as if I stalled in front of them. It's only noticeable at low speed or rolling stops.Read more

Hello! My 2020 P400 Defender is repeatedly not restarting itself at stoplights when the standard auto start/stop functionality engages. Upon removing my foot from the brake pedal to begin moving, what normally happens is thst the engine restarts itself and I drive off as normal. However, at least once or twice a day now, the car does not restart itself, the instrument cluster turns off, and
... I look down in the car has put itself into Park. I am stopped in traffic etc. This is a somewhat significant fault in my opinion - because it has now happened at busy intersections, highway on ramps, and other places where you do not want people aggressively honking or worse hitting you from behind if they are distracted. I thought perhaps I just needed a software update or something, but my car is confirmed to be on the newest Land Rover software systems for everything in the car. I have not taken it to the dealer for this problem yet (no appts avail) but will be taking it in later this month. The reason I decided to submit this to you is that I went on a Defender group on Facebook, and there are many posts on there with other people in the United States having the exact same problem. With both P300 and P400 engines in Defenders. So I believe this may be a fault with software or hardware (and not just an isolated issue with my Defender… which by the way is my favorite car I’ve ever owned!) — that needs to be rectified with some sense of urgency with Land Rover. Also, my novice testing of why and when this is happening has concluded one workaround that I believe prevents the issue: if I press the button on the dash to turn off the auto start/stop, this problem does not occur. However, the car defaults to auto start/stop being on at each ignition cycle - so that would need to be something that users would need to remember to do each time they started the car.Read more

One or more rigid pipes in the coolant system failed when driving down the interstate. This resulted in almost immediate overheating and the computer curtailed engine power, apparently to prevent permanent engine damage. This was very dangerous, as I was in heavy 80+ mph traffic and lost power before I could pull off onto the shoulder. This is apparently a common problem, as the rigid pipes separa
... te at the manufacturing seam. I was still under warranty, and Land Rover had us towed to the closest dealer which was 75 miles away. That dealer told me they had two other Land Rovers in the shop with the same identical problem, and that these pipes fail "by 50,000 miles every time" (I was at 47,500 miles). The pipes in question are on all the 5.0 liter V8's used in Land Rover and Jaguar products, but the failure seems more common on Supercharged versions of the V8 (which I have). The pipes are under the supercharger and subjected to excessive heat/cool cycling which leads to failure.Read more

There is a gasoline leak which could be seen on the right rear underside of my vehicle (there is an exposed tank-like looking component saturated with gasoline) which can be easily ignited and cause a fire whether the car is running or parked. My vehicle is with the dealer at the moment being looked at. The dealer told me a flange connected to the fuel system and fuel pump was cracked (for no appa
... rent reason, it just failed) which causes the leak. The dealer said this is a known problem on the range rover sport and LR4 models of certain year span and a recall is currently going on for those models BUT NOT on my model vehicle. I noticed smell of gasoline and saw the leak some time in January 2022. According to my research on NHTSA website there is another vehicle of this same model located in Apopka Florida with the same problem as mine. I am concerned that land rover may have used the same component or parts provider on the 2013 Evoque (for the flange and fuel pump) as they did for the range rover sport and LR4 models. Please look into this and hopefully any serious accident can be avoided.Read more
