At the same time, they tell me that if I want to fix it as soon as possible, I must pay for the service and that they will reimburse me once they receive the "recall letter." I am currently awaiting information on the cost of the service, but I am doubtful of the dealer's explanation. I'd like to confirm with the NHTSA that this is the correct procedure. My current concern is that the high temperatures will result in a fire caused by a gasoline leak.Read more

Furthermore, after about 1.5 miles the issue repeated and the car shut off again. Car was off for about 5 minutes, at this point I decided not to drive the car as I felt it was dangerous. The night of March 11th, the vehicle was towed to the nearest Land Rover/Range rover dealership and was diagnosed on Monday the 14th. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle with a defective battery. The battery was replaced and I was assured that the technician was certain the issue is resolved, and they have experienced it with other Range rover sports in the past year. I picked up the vehicle on March 16, 2022. Today, March 19, 2022, while driving the vehicle around 1pm the vehicle, the dashboard displayed “headlight fault detected” and the vehicle was once again shut off, including all the electronics. I do not consider this incident to be as dangerous as it was during daylight and near my house. However, the earlier incidents were very hazardous as it occurred at night, with no vehicle lighting or street lighting in an unfamiliar area. I am not confident driving this vehicle at all, as it could lose power at any moment. Thankfully in this time, the vehicle was in a safe area, but this incident could certainly have happened in the middle of a turn, in an area with no shoulder, or in a construction zone. All of which would dramatically increase the risk of significant injury.Read more

I personally first noticed during and after winter storm in CT on Fri 2/25/22 upon water leak and interior damage next day including flickering interior car lights and loud static sounds from speakers. I purchased the car in July 2019 from CarMax in Virginia. At this time, car is still under MaxCare warranty (including mechanical issues) and has Comprehensive coverage (including weather-related damage) via Progressive Insurance. As a healthcare provider/ physician, I’m in CT at Yale University Hospital at this time for clinical patient care hence experienced the Winter storm on Feb 25 following which I arranged a diagnostic at Land Rover North Haven service center. CarMax refused warranty care citing “weather-related” and just yesterday Progressive site visitor declined claim citing they found RUST under carseat and internal wiring as the N221 RECALL from 12/2018 was never appropriately fixed leading to accumulated rust damage w/in the car equipment where FIRST TIME I WAS INFORMED OF SUCH RECALL & REPAIR NEVER disclosed by CarMax upon 2019 purchase or my regular maintenance via Land Rover service depts! Progressive rep forwarded the Recall documents & urged I speak with Land Rover directly. North Haven service dept refused to help and provided LR USA customer relations ph # where representative declining accountability citing per report they received in January 2019 by LR of Hunt Valley recall fixed and that cust rel. supervisor will call me back (no call in 36 hr yet). Please help!Read more

Our 2017 Land Rover Discovery HSE TDi6 has been to the dealer multiple times since purchased new in 2018. This vehicle has several safety issues. First is the random and repeatable shut down of the ABS, Stability, Automatic Braking, Electric steering, windshield leak causing considerable water penetration. The primary concern is the vehicle will lose communication with the ABS, Airbag, Stability,
... Braking Steering computer at any time while driving. This vehicle had been inspected prior with no known fix. This issue nearly caused an accident on Monday 3-14--2022. Vehicle can be hard to control when the lights on the dash turn on, loss of steering assist and suspension (floating, roughness, swerve etc). Windshield leak started approx 3 weeks ago and there is a strong musty odor. Other items we've had issues with are the infotainment system not starting or freeing up (not booting properly) keeping us from engaging the window defroster. I'm presently more concerned about the potential loss of control with the vehicle. Dealer service times are out several weeks and this is a primary use vehicle for us. I feel these issues are significant enough to warrant further action. I tried uploading images and video but the NHTSA website doesn't appear to be working at this time. I have a catalog of information regarding these issues. Finally, several Land Rover forums have users who experience virtually identical issues as my vehicle. I believe this is a safety issue and could cause an accident if the driver is unaware of the loss of steering, suspension and ABS breaking. Thank you.Read more
