While driving south on I-95 from Virginia into North Carolina, we experienced serious brake failure. The power brakes went out completely. ... o, and no issues. When we decided to exit at the NC Welcome Center, my wife was driving and when she tried to break on the exit ramp, nothing happened! We were lucky no cars or pedestrians were in front of us, and lucky it was a long exit ramp. She kept her foot on the brake as hard as possible, and we gradually slowed to a manageable speed and parked. First I checked myself and sure enough the car wouldn't stop as soon as I put it in gear. Next I checked the brake fluid, which was full. I tried pumping the brakes, and everything else I could thing of but the brakes would not work at all. While waiting 3.5 hours for a tow truck, I did some research and learned that this issue of power assist failure in the 2012-2019 Evoque models has been under review by the NHTSA already. Our Evoque had a Virginia safety inspection in May 2022 when the new rear brakes were installed, and there were absolutely no warning lights or other indications of trouble or risk. This situation could have ended very seriously if we hadn't pulled over for a break. Now that I know this has happened with other Evoques, I expect Land Rover to pay for the repair; I've also lost confidence in the Evoque power assist configuration and I think Land Rover needs to issue a safety recall.Read more

When I brought my car into service manager. He had my car inspected and found fuel sending unit cover was leaking and needed to be replaced. Cost for fuel sending unit cover and gasket with labor and taxes,etc. would be $1970.09. He said my car had left two fuel puddles in service area and was a dangerous safety issue but my VIN # was not in recall and repairs would be at my expense.I declined repair and immediately called LR North America customer relations speaking with Cris W. and his supervisor, Jennifer. Both told me they would try to work with managers at Ft. Myers and Naples LR dealers to encourage them to help me by covering all or part of the repair cost. I never heard back from them or anyone at LR Customer Relations. My daughter did file a complaint with NHTSA on 6/23 for my car but I would like to file my own complaint because of the serious safety issue which LR fails to address in any substantive or helpful way. I have taken my car to a third party auto service facility because I was told it was too dangerous to drive by by LR Customer Relations and their Ft. Myers LR service manager. Please accept this complaint so that some won’t be injured or killed by this serious safety issue which is similar / related to NHTSA Recall#N623. I've also made Jaguar Land Rover North America aware this issue is affecting my specific vehicle. They are already aware that this issue is happening - please reference Tech Bulletin N221NAS4 issued on March 20, 2020. However, there has not been a recall, and this repair is not considered a warranty item. There was a 2 month wait to have my vehicle looked at by the dealer, and now an expected 3 month wait for the new windshield to be installed. In the mean time, I believe this is a safety hazard because the windshield will not function properly in a crash. In addition, if driven in the rain, the water rolling down the inside of the windshield or pouring onto the steering wheel and seat of the driver presents a hazard. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be rebuilt or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the independent mechanic that it was a known failure. The manufacturer opened a case. At the end of May, about 10 days after getting my car serviced at the Land Rover Manhattan location middle of May, I headed to a short trip with my family. An hour into our trip, I could hear horrible noises coming from the engine, as if the gears were grinding with the engine shaking drastically. As I tried to pull to the side of the highway to safety, smoke started coming out of the front of my
... car. I got my family out of the car immediately and called roadside assistance. I went to inspect my car while we waited, and I noticed that there was oil all over the front (and rear) bumpers, as if all of the oil had spilt while I was driving. This was extremely strange since there was no light on my dashboard and my car had recently been serviced.
