2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 55,575 miles was parked in a parking garage all day in Brooklyn NY and when the vehicle was move to the front of the garage by parking attendants the engine started smoking and caught fire. ... engine fire not only put all of the other vehicles in the park garage at risk of catching fire but the parking garage sits under a luxury apartment building putting the working and residents at risk. Additionally I commute between Brooklyn and NJ 3x a week and cant imagine what would have happened if I was driving the vehicle over the Brooklyn Bridge, on the Brooklyn Queens Express or in the Holland Tunnel during high commuter rush hour traffic. Car was checked out by a Jeep Dealership who confirm fire was not caused by any leaks or electrical issue but did mentioned it seems to have started around the engine air cleaner. The current status of the issue has been an open investigation with Jeep Corporate for going on the 3rd week with no communication or updates on status. ... drivers/passengers on the road. The vehicle was parked about a mile from it occurring and roadside assistance called. It was taken to Jaguar Land Rover Hunt Valley to be repaired. Where they duplicated same issue. They could not get the computer to flag any codes that something was wrong but witnessed it not being able to be steered properly. They proceeded to do a hard reset on the steering module as they could not communicate with it, they then downloaded new software and said it fixed the problem. We drove 3.5 hours round trip to go pick it up. It drove just like is should for trips but then at 1145 miles the exact same issue with dialogue box saying lane keep malfunction and power steering or it fighting my wife to stay straight and fighting her to navigate road turns, obstacles or other vehicles. This again put my family and other families on the road at extreme risk. It was then towed again. This time it went to Jaguar Land Rover Harrisburg. They too witnessed the same issue and I told them of what happened before and what they did to fix. It has been in the dealership service centers care for a week and they can’t figure out why it’s doing it. They contacted Land Rover corporate for help and have open ticket with Engineer. The service managers words to me where that they can’t do anything until LandRover engineer figures out why this is happening to Defenders. I said there is more, he said yes. I called corporate to request they take the vehicle back as it is unsafe for my family and other families in the road. They said it has to happen 3 times! Not Safe At All.Read more

During a road trip, the GV70 only having about 5000 miles, a Check Engine light came on. Cause of said warning was fuel injector malfunction. The car still operated normally. Took in to Dealer repair shop after getting back home from road trip and Dealer had car for over 5 weeks to replace a fuel injector chip. Since replacing the chip, no other problems have occurred.

I drive a 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport, which was serviced over three months. The certified dealership replaced the head gasket, fuel injectors, cylinder heads, and starter engines. As soon as I pulled into my house from the doctor (less than an hour after I called the dealership to speak about the check engine light), I noticed a thin white smoke coming from my engine. I popped the hood, contacted the dealership, and they told me to watch it to see if it stopped smoking. I thought it was overheating. The engine erupted into flames, and the vehicle was almost a total loss. After researching the car, the Land Rover model seems to have had electrical elements recalled along with issues similar to the coolant system. ... age boards and discovered this is a common issue with 4th generation Ram pickups. Recommended online fixes are disconnecting camera from wiring harness in tailgate and re-connecting, or even simply jiggling the connection. A friend who also owns a 4th generation Ram suggested slamming the tailgate to fix. This (ironically) works and is less invasive than removing the tailgate inspection cover, and far better than leaving truck with dealer for a week. Still, the problem continues, frequently during change of temperature between seasons. I have small children, and am often driving locations where small children toddle about (daycare, parks, etc). Losing the rear view camera means I have no rearward visibility to see a small child behind this tall truck. If it fails in one of these locations I return the vehicle to park, get out, and slam the tailgate. I hope others who own these trucks take the time to do the same. This is a known problem identified on youtube and many message boards / forums. After the dealer repairs, when the problem occurred again I contacted Chrysler Cares and questioned if there was a recall or technical service bulletin related to the issue. I was told 'no'. I have purchased a 2022 Evoque as a certified preowned vehicle. Only a few days after the delivery, the car had to be towed back to the dealership due to multiple error messages that caused the vehicle to shift into Neutral on its own, and it did not allow changing gears after that -- it was not possible to move the vehicle. The dealership reported the vehicle was "dead" on arrival, and they said they had to replace a sensor module, which was found faulty. The car was delivered back to me as "fixed". However, I started to get the same messages again about a week later with additional errors of "Hill Descent Control not available", "ATPC not available", "OK to drive with caution Stability control not available", and "Driver Assistance features not available" messages. As mentioned above, the car places itself in neutral position every time this happens, and does not allow the gear to be changed. I got stranded in various locations 3 times in 3 months. I took the car to the dealership to take a look at the car again to find out what the problem is, which apparently was not fixed through the previous attempt. However, they reported that the problem cannot be replicated and considered the case closed. I reached out to Land Rover corporate, who contacted the dealership to assist with troubleshooting and review the car's "black box". They again said that retailer has not been able to duplicate the issue, nor have they been able to capture any stored fault codes in the vehicle pertaining to the event. Even though, all 3 occurrences are documented with date/timestamped videos and pictures, dealership cannot identify why vehicle randomly shifts into Neutral and becomes inoperable.
