I PURCHASED A 2002 FREELANDER S IN OCTOBER 2003. THE VEHICLE WAS A DEMO MODEL, WITH APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES. IN THE 10 MONTHS THAT I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE BRAKE AND ROTOR WORK DONE, AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THE SUPPORT WEBBING OF THE DRIVERS SEAT IN THIS VEHICLE FAILED IN TENSION. THE POINT OF FAILURE WAS NEAR THE MIDPOINT OF THE WEBBING SPAN. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE METAL SPRING SUPPORT PLACES A NORMAL FORCE ON THE TOP SURFACE OF THE WEBBING WHEN THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS IN USE. ITS REALLY A 2001 FREELANDER, THERE IS NO 2001 FREELANDER IN THE SEARCH OPTIONS....BUT ANYWAYS I HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH MY CAR UNTIL ABOUT 16500 MILES AND MY LEFT ROTOR STARTED GRINDING SO I HAD TO GET BOTH OF MY FRONT PADS REPLACED AND THE DRUMS WERE FINE.
