I HAVE OWNED TWO 2006 RANGE ROVER HSE. THE FIRST ONE LAND ROVER PURCHASED BACK FROM ME DUE TO THEIR FAILURE TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE SMOKING AND LOSING POWER. THEY TOLD ME AT THE TIME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS THE ONLY ONE IN NORTH AMERICA TO HAVE THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. IT HAD AROUND 13,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THEY PURCHASED IT BACK FROM ME. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED TO A STOP. AFTER BEING TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS DETERMINED THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AND THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED A SECOND TIME FOUR MONTHS LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED.

AFTER DEALER INSPECTION THE DEALER AGREED TO PAY ONLY HALF THE COST TO REPLACE THE TIRES AND SAID THAT FACTORY CAMBER SETTINGS WOULD REQUIRE US TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES APPROXIMATELY EVERY 10K MILES (EVERY 6 MONTHS). MY TRANSMISSION TROUBLE BEGAN IN EARLY AUGUST 2006, WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK AND SHUDDER UNEXPECTEDLY. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK OUT THE ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TEMP SENSOR AND SAID THE CARE WAS FIXED. I PICKED UP THE "FIXED" CAR AND 4 HOURS LATER THE DANGEROUS JUMPING/SHUDDERING HAPPENED AGAIN. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE PROBLEM GREW WORSE AND SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASH. I PULLED OVER AND THE CAR WAS THEN FLATBEDDED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT AN ELECTRONIC COMPUTER CHIP (ECC) FOR THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS ORDERED AND INSTALLED - BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP NOW STATES THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $5000. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 37,000 MILES (HIGHWAY AND CITY MILES ONLY - NO OFF-ROADING) AND HAS BEEN SERVICED ON TIME AND ONLY AT LR DEALERSHIPS FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. MY WIFE OWNS A 2006 LAND ROVER LR3. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD, AND THE REAR TIRES ARE BALD. THEY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 16,000 MILES OF USE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S KEY CAN ONLY OPEN A LOCKED DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, AND A PASSENGER WOULD BE LOCKED INSIDE IF NO KEY WAS AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS AFRAID IF THE KEY WAS LOCKED INSIDE AND A CHILD WAS STILL IN THE VEHICLE, THERE WOULD BE NO WAY FOR THE CHILD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE.

LOCKING SYSTEM. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK IN SEVERAL TIMES OVER THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE CLEANED AND REPLACED CONNECTIONS.
