My child was in the car seat and I noticed that the harness was not staying tight. I did research and apparently if a small object and or crumbs gets stuck under the fastener the harness won’t lock in place. I reached out to the manufacturer and they failed to do anything about this. They have no warnings regarding it and did not want to replace it. Something must be down, if this is happening

2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport P400 Dynamic SE, VIN [XXX]. Leased new March 2025; 11,690 miles. The instrument cluster repeatedly displays "Please check engine coolant level" although the vehicle is not due for service. The cooling system is sealed and coolant should not be consumed or lost on a vehicle this new, indicating a leak or a defective level sensor. Land Rover has documented this exac
... t symptom in manufacturer communications filed with NHTSA for the 2025 Range Rover Sport (July 2025: engine coolant leak, low coolant warning) and in a dealer bulletin for turbocharger coolant feed/return hose O-ring leaks on the Ingenium I6 3.0L petrol engine (bulletin D061). An undetected coolant leak can lead to engine overheating and sudden loss of power. I am requesting that this defect be investigated and recorded. RELATED TO RECALL 26V248 ([XXX]) — VIN EXCLUDED DESPITE IDENTICAL DEFECT. INCIDENT 1 — [XXX] — [XXX] (~8,500 miles): Vehicle displayed "Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected" red warning and lost all motive power in active highway traffic. Unable to move vehicle. Called 911; emergency responders blocked lane. Infant and two senior citizens in vehicle; both seniors suffered minor heat stroke
... . Vehicle towed via Land Rover Roadside Assistance to Land Rover Seattle (Bellevue). Out of service 18 days. JLRNA Technical Assistance directed software-only repair (BCM, IPCB, BECM, RFA updates). Fault codes: P033-11 and B1651-92 (DC/DC converter internal operating mode failure). No physical converter replaced. INCIDENT 2 — [XXX] — [XXX] (~9,966 miles): Same failure recurred. Vehicle lost motive power in active traffic. Called 911 again. Towed via Land Rover Roadside Assistance to Howard Orloff Imports (authorized retailer), Chicago. JLRNA Tech Line confirmed via data logger: "DC TO DC CONVERTER FAILED INTERNALLY." Converter physically replaced (Part No. 433123464). Dealership RO notes: "customer states this has happened before in Seattle." 2026: "Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected" warning reappeared. Dealer unable to investigate as error was not active at time of visit. JLRNA has issued a final decision excluding this VIN from Recall D126 on the basis that the converter was previously replaced. However: (1) the first repair was a JLRNA T/A-directed software fix that failed; (2) JLRNA has not confirmed whether Part No. 433123464 is the revised spec referenced in the recall remedy; (3) the 2026 warning reappearance suggests the defect may not be resolved. Both repair orders are attached. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Following a routine oil and filter service and starter motor replacement at an authorized Land Rover dealer, the engine seized within 21 miles of vehicle delivery. The vehicle was brought to the dealer for a no-start condition. A prior independent shop had evaluated the vehicle and found exclusively electrical issues — no engine, fluid, or cooling concerns. The dealer performed a multi-point in
... spection confirming no fluid leaks and no engine concerns. The dealer then performed an oil and filter service and starter motor replacement. The dealer's own technician notes state the vehicle was started and the concern was confirmed rectified. One mile was driven across nine days of service. Fourteen minutes after taking delivery, warning lights appeared. The following morning, a RED Engine Overheating warning illuminated. The engine seized shortly thereafter, rendering the vehicle inoperable on a public road. The dealer confirmed in writing: spun bearing, rod knock, and metal shavings throughout the engine. The dealer's Service Manager also confirmed in writing that drained oil is not examined for metal contamination as part of their standard oil change procedure. A bearing in pre-failure condition sheds metal particulate into engine oil. This metal contamination would have been detectable in the drained oil had it been examined. The vehicle is currently inoperable and in the dealer's custody. The component is available for inspection upon request. Warning lamps appeared 14 minutes post-delivery. No warning lamps were present before the service visit. Problem has been confirmed by the dealer.Read more

Shortly after I purchased this used 2018 Land Rover Discovery with approximately 30,700 miles, the vehicle began intermittently lurching, surging and shaking during normal driving. These symptoms began before the check-engine light illuminated. Two days after the check-engine light first appeared, the lurching and surging became noticeably worse. Approximately two minutes before the first engine
... shutdown, numerous warnings appeared in rapid succession, including “Stability Control Not Available,” “Forward Alert Not Available,” “AEB Not Available,” and “ATPC Not Available.” I stopped the vehicle briefly. Approximately one minute after resuming driving, the engine unexpectedly shut off and the vehicle remained disabled for approximately 30 seconds before restarting. The abrupt loss of propulsion nearly caused the vehicle behind me to collide with the rear of my vehicle. During the second incident, the engine suddenly shut off while I was making a left turn through a four-way intersection. The vehicle became immobilized in the middle of the intersection, directly exposed to opposing oncoming traffic, and would not restart for approximately one minute. The sudden loss of propulsion mid-turn created an immediate risk of a serious collision. An independent OBD-II scan documented code P0456 simultaneously as stored, pending and permanent, as well as P0170 as a permanent diagnostic code. The selling dealership collected the vehicle because it could not safely be driven back, and the vehicle is currently available for inspection. There was no crash, fire or physical injury. I am reporting a potential safety defect involving repeated unexpected engine shutdown, loss of propulsion and multiple simultaneous system failures.Read more

DRL Halo failure/driver side: I own a business, and am on the road driving throughout the day. I have had at least 3 incidents where other drivers have pulled out in front of me, in which I believe was due to the DLR Halo failure. I was also stopped by a Traffic Officer because he thought it was a full 'headlight' failure. I had to explain to him that the DLR Halo failure is a KNOWN issue to La
... nd Rover and that the core headlight still works. Safety Issues: Reduced Visibility: DRLs make your vehicle easier for oncoming traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists to see during daylight hours, especially in overcast weather or glare conditions. A daytime running light (DRL) failure on a vehicle like the Land Rover Defender primarily reduces your truck's daytime visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a collision. Stats: Daytime running lights (DRLs) reduce multi-vehicle daytime traffic accidents by about 5% to 15%, depending on the specific study and crash type.Key Reduction StatisticsGeneral Multi-Vehicle Crashes: A major meta-analysis shows a 10% to 15% reduction in multi-party daytime accidents for cars using DRLs. A Monash University study found an 8.8% reduction in non-nighttime multi-vehicle crashes.Head-On and Opposite-Direction Collisions: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that DRLs reduce opposite-direction daytime fatal and non-fatal crashes by 5%.Vulnerable Road Users: NHTSA data indicates a 12% reduction in daytime pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities in single-vehicle crashes, and a 23% reduction in daytime fatal crashes between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.Specific Fleet/Manufacturer Studies: General Motors and independent evaluations typically estimate a general crash reduction of over 5% in urban and mixed environments. While I am driving a 2022 Defender with a DLR Halo defect, Land rover is directly putting me at 5 to 15% greater risk of injury, SBI injury or death.Read more

Our 2020 Defender's halo light on the driver's side has become inoperable & poses a safety hazard. After researching this issue, it appears that this has been reported widely online. This malfunctioning halo light renders overall lighting very dim at night, creating a safety hazard for my vehicle & other drivers on the road. While looking online this is a rampant problem with this model, with the
... dealers wanting to charge & exorbitant cost of $4K+ I am writing to request that the manufacturer assume full responsibility & costs for repairing this safety related lighting defect at a local dealership. Properly functioning exterior lighting is an essential safety feature of any vehicle. This malfunction affects my visibility. We purchased this vehicle with the reasonable expectation that critical safety equipment would function properly & that the manufacturer would stand behind defects involving safety issues. I believe it is unreasonable for me to be expected to bear the cost of diagnosis, parts or repair as this is an inherent lighting system issue. I am therefore requesting that the manufacturer cover 100% of all costs. This is a safety issue, not a cosmetic concern & I strongly urge the manufacturer to treat it accordingly. The halo light has been out for a few weeks; there were no warnings that the light was out just noticed dim lighting & neighbor while passing on the road mentioned it.Read more

I was driving my vehicle on a California freeway and it stopped at traffic signal that was red. When the light turned green and my vehicle accelerated forward the vehicle system powered down in the middle of traffic. I had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic who identified two potential causes for my vehicle powering down and one of the items referenced was the recalled dc converter. I had the v
... ehicle towed to my local Land Rover dealership and they confirmed that a faulty dc converter was the cause. Land Rover is asking for me to purchase a new dc converter at a cost of $3,000 that is currently under recall and they are unwilling to wave the cost of the repair leaving the vehicle inoperable. I asked the Land Rover dealership to give me a quote to purchase the inoperable vehicle from me and the offered a wholesale price acknowledging that they are unwilling to pay market value because of the recall with no remedy but when a remedy is found they might be willing to purchase at current market value. I suspect the dealerships motive is to purchase my car at a wholesale price, replace the recalled part with another recalled part and sell at a outsized profit will leaving me underwater with a lender.Read more

COMPONENT: Driver-front flexible brake hose (service brake hydraulic system), and the brake fluid level warning system. WHAT HAPPENED: While my daughter was driving at approximately 25 mph and braking normally, the brake pedal sank progressively to the floor over about five seconds. The vehicle continued moving and did not slow as commanded during that time. Braking was obtained only after the pe
... dal had reached the floor. She pumped the pedal several times and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop and park it. Brake fluid was leaking underneath. WARNING PRIOR TO FAILURE: None. No brake warning lamp or message of any kind appeared before or during the failure. The driver had no warning. She shut the vehicle off. Approximately twenty minutes later she restarted it, and only then did a brake fluid warning appear. The vehicle had been driven normally earlier that same day, including on the expressway, with no soft pedal, no increased pedal travel and no symptoms of any kind. CONFIRMED BY A DEALER: Yes. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, which diagnosed a failed driver-front flexible brake hose and replaced it. The dealer stated the hose was "torn open" and that the main leak was located where the flexible hose meets its metal fitting. AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION: No. The technician discarded the failed hose and took no photographs, so the failed part no longer exists. INSPECTED BY MANUFACTURER, POLICE OR INSURANCE: No. HOW SAFETY WAS PUT AT RISK: A brake hose separated at its crimped metal fitting with no prior symptoms, on a vehicle serviced at authorized dealers throughout its life, and the vehicle gave the driver no warning of the fluid loss until the following ignition cycle, after she had already stopped. This happened at 25 mph. The same failure at highway speed, with no warning to the driver, could have had a very different outcome.Read more

My 2023 Land Rover Defender is subject to manufacturer recall D126 / NHTSA Recall 26V-248 concerning potential failure of the DC/DC converter due to an internal fault in the boost control microchip. The recall remains incomplete and Jaguar Land Rover has advised that a remedy is not yet available. I have contacted Jaguar Land Rover and my authorized Land Rover retailer, but there is currently no
... repair that I can have performed to remedy the safety defect. This has created a significant problem because I recently relocated from Canada to the United States and need to import my Canadian-market Defender. Jaguar Land Rover will not provide the manufacturer compliance documentation required for the normal U.S. importation process while this recall remains outstanding. However, I cannot have the recall completed because Jaguar Land Rover has not yet developed or made a remedy available. I am therefore effectively unable to remedy the safety recall through no action available to me as the vehicle owner, while the unresolved recall is simultaneously preventing me from importing the vehicle into the United States. I have asked Jaguar Land Rover for assistance and am currently discussing a potential manufacturer buyback because there is no available recall remedy. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether Jaguar Land Rover is providing an appropriate and timely remedy for Recall 26V-248 and advise what recourse is available to an owner whose vehicle cannot be remedied because the manufacturer has not yet made a repair available.Read more

Driver Side Daytime running lamp illumination failed at 45 thousand miles. There is no internal notification of the failure and it failed prematurely. Its outside of the JLR warranty and they are not supporting any repair nor is the dealer who wants to replace both lamps at the cost of $6,000.
Incident date: Jul 30, 2026
Component and System Failure: The front headlamp assembly's internal LED Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) circuit board failed prematurely. The component is not available for inspection upon request, as the failed headlamp assembly is currently still installed on the vehicle. Safety Risk: The sudden loss of the DRL severely reduces the vehicle's forward visibility (conspicuity) to oncoming traffic and
... pedestrians during daytime, overcast, and low-light conditions. This defect directly compromises federally mandated lighting safety standards, significantly increasing the risk of a front-end or intersection collision because other motorists cannot see the vehicle approaching. Confirmation and Inspection: The problem has been confirmed by a Land Rover dealership. The vehicle and component have been inspected by the manufacturer. The dealership technician confirmed the internal module burned out and stated the only remedy is a full headlamp replacement. Prior Symptoms and Warning Lamps: There were absolutely no warning lamps, error messages, or symptoms prior to the failure. The DRL went completely dark without warning on July 30, 2026 at approximately 41,476 miles.Read more

On August 14, 2026, at approximately 12:15 p.m., I arrived at Land Rover Mission Viejo for a scheduled appointment to complete Safety Recall D120, Driver's Airbag Potential Non-Deployment. No service attendant greeted or checked me in. When I approached an attendant, the attendant said they could not help because they were going to lunch. An employee attempted to obtain assistance from others; one
... said they were too busy, and another said, "I can't rescue everybody." I waited in the reception area, but no one assisted me and no manager or supervisor was available. I left without the recall repair being performed. The driver's-airbag safety defect remains unrepaired, leaving the vehicle with a potential non-deployment risk.Read more
