This 2016 Lance model 1995 travel trailer which I purchased new developed frame sag, which appears to have been fairly common in the 2016 model based upon a query of the Lance Owner's Association. ... y correct this each time the trailer was parked. My concern is that anyone cooking inside the trailer with a resultant fire may not be able to leave the trailer in time to save their lives. I have contacted the Lance Corp. and they will not admit that this problem exists in the 2016 model year, nor offer any solutions to the problem. At the same time, the trailer frame was changed during the 2017 year after only being utilized for a year. It seems unlikely that they went to the trouble of picking a trailer frame and then jettisoning it in only a year. I believe that frame failure to this degree after gentle use of a trailer only 8 years old constitutes a grave product defect that requires recall and repair. I have known that this problem exists since 2017 when I talked to another owner of the same year and model trailer. At that time this other owner was able to get the factory to repair his trailer since it was clearly under warranty. My trailer started exhibiting the first symptoms of this around 2018, but I didn't know that was what was causing the slight door opening impingement. I contacted Lance Corporation the first time 3 years ago an got nowhere with advice or recommendations for this problem. This year I again contacted them and emailed back and forth for over two months, even offering to drive my trailer from Alaska to their factory to get it fixed. Again, after slow walking the conversation, they ultimately had no recommendation to repair the problem and would not take me up on me paying my own way to their factory to get the trailer repaired.Read more

I discovered a defect that results in heater exhaust gases entering the living & sleeping compartment. The factory-installed heater exhaust duct was routed forward, under the kitchen counter, along the front edge approximately 1 to 2” below the underside surface. At the area, just forward of underside leading edge of the stove ‘drip pan', I discovered a crush and tear in the heater exhau

It is reasonable to believe and it is more likely than not that: 1) The installation of the stove is the proximate cause of the damage 2) The installation of the duct is typical and compliant with the design data 3) The installation of the duct is typical for the manufacture of other 825 campers 4) The drip pan underside rounded edge partially but not totally sealed the defective opening, resulting in a latent danger 5) The duct will likely degrade and tear/open further over time 6) It is reasonable to believe and is more likely than not that long-term operation may result in Carbon Monoxide Poisoning or Death Consumer believes propane heater exhaust duct might in fact be a heat vent duct. THE PLASTIC TANK ITSELF IS NOT BOLTED TO THE RIG, BUT SITS ON AN 0.18" THICK BY 0.625" WIDE RIM ON THE FORE AND AFT SIDES. A BOLT HOLDING THE REAR MOUNTING BRACKET TO THE CHASSIS (PHOTO 1) APPARENTLY CAME LOOSE OR SHEARED OFF AND FELL OFF. THESE BOLTS ARE ONLY 1/4" DIAMETER 307A GENERAL SERVI

THERE IS NO BACKUP RESTRAINING SYSTEM, EITHER TO SUPPORT THE TANK OR PREVENT THE BRACKETS FROM ROTATING. SINCE THE TANK ITSELF IS NOT AFFIXED, IT SIMPLY FELL ONTO THE ROADWAY. VEHICLE WAS MOVING FORWARD AT 2-3 MPH ON A LEVEL PAVED SURFACE. THE TANK BECAME LODGED UNDER THE TRAILER AXLES AND HAD TO BE CUT FREE. THERE IS A SECOND, SIMILAR TANK (ALSO 45 GALLONS) FOR GRAY WATER STORAGE, ALSO USING THIS SAME SUPPORT SCHEME. THESE TANKS ARE ROUGHLY THE SIZE AND SHAPE OF A REFRIGERATOR. THE REAR (GRAY WATER) TANK IS AFT OF THE AXLES, SO THERE WOULD BE NOTHING AT ALL TO PREVENT A FOLLOWING VEHICLE FROM STRIKING IT. IN SUMMARY: - OVERALL DESIGN OF TANK MOUNTING SYSTEM IS DEFICIENT AND DANGEROUS, WITH NO REDUNDANCY. - MOUNTING BOLTS ARE UNDERSIZED AND OF LOW SHEAR STRENGTH. - 400 LB TANK IS NOT PHYSICALLY FIXED THE MOUNTS, BUT SITS ON AN 0.18" THICK BY 0.625" WIDE PLASTIC FLANGE. ANY MOVEMENT OF TANK COULD ALLOW FLANGE TO FLEX AND FAIL. - THERE ARE MULTIPLE TANKS WITH THE SAME MOUNTING SYSTEM.Read more

WE DECIDED TO MOVE TO ANOTHER SPOT IN THE CAMPGROUND FOR OUR SECOND WEEK OF CAMPING. AFTER A DAY OF BEING IN THE NEW SPOT I OPENED THE REFRIGERATOR AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS NOT COLD INSIDE. IF NO ONE HAS BEEN MESSING WITH THE WIRES IT WOULD NOT BE FROM THE WIRES ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING EACH OTHER. IT COULD OF BEEN A POWER SURGE ( LIGHTING, 220 VOLTAGE ECT.)". AND HERE IS ONE FROM LANCE - "THOU IT HAS BEEN 6 YEARS SINCE THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF YOUR TRUCK CAMPER, A NUMBER OF VARIABLES COULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE DURING THOSE 6 YEARS OF USE. THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN ATTRIBUTE TO THE CAUSE OF THE MELTING OF THE REFRIGERATOR COMPONENTS, THIS INCLUDES FAULTY WIRING. THIS IS JUST AN UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCE."
