Vehicle: 2016 Kia Sorento, VIN [XXX] Incident Date: November 13, 2025 Incident Location: Durham, NC (3828 Guess Rd) Cause of Loss: Engine Fire, confirmed by Durham Fire Department Report (Incident #253663) as "originated from under the hood." TECHNICAL NARRATIVE & SYMPTOMS (CRITICAL FOR LIABILITY): I am filing this complaint to report a catastrophic vehicle fire that I believe is directly linked
... to multiple acknowledged manufacturing defects that create a fire risk in Kia vehicles. ABS/Traction Control Light Warning (Direct Fire Risk Symptom): Immediately prior to the loss, the ABS and Traction Control warning lights were constantly illuminated. This is a known precursor symptom for the defective Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) or ABS Module short-circuit, which has been cited in numerous Kia fire recalls (e.g., NHTSA 20V019, 20V519). The fire's origin under the hood is consistent with this component failure. Prior Engine Failures (Systemic Defect History): This vehicle has a history of catastrophic manufacturing defects: The engine assembly was replaced in 2023 due to the known Theta II Rod Bearing Failure. The knock sensor was replaced in September 2025 as part of the KSDS Product Improvement Campaign, demonstrating the vehicle was still under active service for critical engine monitoring defects just weeks before the fire. Potential Tow Hitch Wiring Fire Risk: The vehicle was fully engulfed, but the fire may also be linked to the defect cited in NHTSA Recall 22V703 (tow hitch wiring harness short circuit, which also poses a fire risk). I require a full investigation into this defect leading to compensation for the total loss of the vehicle and consequential damages. The vehicle has less than 2,000 miles on it being a 2024 model (hybrid limited) and on more than 2 occasions without warning the car will be dead while parked. Dealer Misconduct & Illegal Charges: I towed the vehicle to Kia on the Boulevard (11295 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia) for the active engine recall remedy. The dealership: * Refused to perform the recall repair free of charge. * Forced me to pay a $199 "diagnostic fee" just to look at the recall-related defect, which should be covered by the manufacturer. * Threatened me with $45/day storage fees if I did not pay the $199 and remove the vehicle immediately. 3. Current Status: Under the threat of accumulating storage fees, I was coerced into paying the $199 and towing the vehicle back to my residence. The dealership knowingly released a vehicle with a catastrophic engine failure (smoke/fire risk) back to the owner without performing the federally mandated remedy. The unsafe vehicle is now sitting at my home unrepaired. 4. Conclusion: I request an immediate investigation into Kia on the Boulevard's refusal to honor the recall and their practice of charging customers for recall-related inspections.Read more

My 2023 Kia EV6 experienced a sudden ICCU and 12-volt system failure while traveling approximately 50 mph. Without warning, the vehicle instantly lost propulsion and all electrical power. This included loss of steering assist, braking assist, hazard lights, shift capability (unable to shift into Park), and even the ability to lock the doors. The failure effectively “bricked” the vehicle in mot
... ion. I was only able to get the vehicle off the roadway because the road happened to slope downward into a nearby lot. Steering required significant physical effort, the brake pedal went completely hard (“dead”), and the vehicle offered no functional parking brake or Park engagement once stopped. Because I was on a hill, we had to allow the car to roll to the bottom until it met a curb to prevent movement. After power loss, the doors could not be locked at all. This type of unrecoverable electrical failure creates an extreme safety hazard for the driver, passengers, and surrounding traffic. There is no pre-warning and no diagnostic indicator. The ICCU fuse appears to fail spontaneously and renders the vehicle uncontrollable in several critical respects. This is not an isolated issue. ICCU failures have been occurring across the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5/6 platforms for more than three years, including on brand-new 2025 models. The persistence of this defect across multiple model years indicates that the underlying design or component defect has not been resolved by the manufacturer. Given the suddenness of the failure, the total loss of vehicle control systems, and the long history of similar incidents reported by other owners, I am now hesitant to drive the vehicle due to the unpredictable and dangerous nature of the defect.Read more

Hello, I have a Tesla model 3 that I bought back in 2018 . On [XXX] when I sliced my finger while opening the door, because the chrome coating on the door handle started peeling. Apparently the peeling chrome hap

While driving normally, yellow brake warning lights came on but I arrived home without incident. Next time I drove, the warning lights were all off, but suddenly the brakes failed almost completely. I pushed the pedal to the floor and heard a grinding/clicking sound, and barely any stopping power. I was only going 25 mph, and was able to stop after 5 seconds of high foot pressure. At the same
... time, red brake warning light came on. I was able to get the car home very slowly, and strangely I had adequate braking power for the remainder of the short trip (although red and yellow brake warning lights remain on). I am happy to provide the car for inspection. This was extremely dangerous to the nearby pedestrians because I could not have stopped the vehicle had one been crossing in front of me. Had this happened at highway speeds, my passenger and I would have been in great danger, as would have other vehicles.Read more

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, which currently has a high-voltage battery fire-risk recall with no remedy available. This recall states the vehicle should not be parked in garages or near structures due to fire risk. This makes the vehicle unsafe to use as intended. My vehicle has also experienced four total recalls, repeated check-engine warnings, and it was i

I have attempted to contact my dealership (Fred Beans Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Doylestown, PA) and the General Manager but have received no response for over a week regarding options for a safe loaner vehicle or next steps. The lack of remedy, the safety risk of fire, the inability to safely park or charge the vehicle, and the dealership’s failure to respond place my family at risk and leave the vehicle effectively unusable. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in documenting and escalating this unresolved and hazardous situation.Read more

UNKNOWN ; I believe that my Jeep Wrangler 4XE in connection with recall : A7C/NHTSA 25V-710 created this safety hazard. Around the end of October / Beginning of November my Jeep performed a software update like it does from time to time and within a few days the vehicle shut off completely without any prior warning. I was driving to work, luckily on a side street going 20 miles an hour pulling
... away from a stop sign and the vehicle just straight up dies. Lights, engine, electronics, power steering, everything was unresponsive. I managed to pull off of the roadway and had to attempt multiple times to restart the vehicle. After a minute or so of being in park, it started right up and kept driving. A few days later after limited use of the vehicle, there was a software update again and I assumed it was for that and kept using the vehicle. This experience put my life in danger as well as others. Should circumstances of my travel been different and this would have occurred on a freeway, the outcome could have been tragic for myself and others on the roadway. This experience together with the other 2 severe safety recalls with no remedy, have led me to feel so uncomfortable even having the vehicle in my possession due to a recommendation from FCA, Mopar, and the NHSTA to (A. Not charge the vehicle to lower the chance of a tragic lithium ion battery fire that can occur during normal operation creating a hazard for all occupants including minor children, but also during the vehicle being parked. Leading to (B. A recommendation to not park the vehicle close to structures or other vehicles. Which in my situation is impossible at home and at work. And (C. The risk of the engine being contaminated with sand from the casting process which can lead to catastrophic engine failure, which can start a vehicle fire or cause an accident without prior warning. I will be dropping my Jeep off at a dealer until a fix is in play. No remedies available for either 3 major recalls.Read more

The CVT transmission in my 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport is malfunctioning and poses a serious safety hazard. The vehicle hesitates, loses power during acceleration, and displays warning lights while driving. This failure creates extremely dangerous situations, especially when merging into traffic, accelerating from a stop, or crossing intersections. Despite the widespread CVT issues in Nissan vehicles
... and identical symptoms reported in other Rogue models, Nissan refused to repair my CVT because they claim the Rogue Sport is not included in the extended CVT warranty. I also requested Goodwill Assistance due to the clear safety risk, but this was denied as well. The dealer quoted me around $1,500 just to diagnose the CVT problem, with repair costs likely much higher. It is unreasonable for a critical safety component to fail at this mileage and for Nissan to reject all support. This issue continues to occur unpredictably, and the vehicle can suddenly lose power during normal driving, putting me and others at serious risk. Nissan has refused responsibility despite this being a well-documented, safety-related CVT defect. I am filing this complaint because the malfunction poses a risk of crashes and injuries, and Nissan has declined to address a known safety problem.Read more

... de poisoning. This is a known issue that Chrysler refuses to address because there is no pressure on them to do so, despite the imminent threat to human health and safety.Read more

My screen frozed while I was driving to the point that I was not able to know how fast I was driving. My backup camera also did not displayed on the screen. I sent videos to [XXX]. The tire pressure stated that tire has a normal pressure but I had a flat tire. Tire pressure sensors are not reading the tire pressure. Shift to Park light remains on and car will not shut down when it is in Park already. This is an existing issue with Chevy Malibu but no recall yet.
Incident date: Sep 5, 2025
There is an electronic glitch with the gear shifting system where it will randomly / sporadically not allow shifting from reverse to drive and provides the error message "gear already selected." This has happened numerous times and resolves itself after 1-2 minutes. However, the vehicle remains in the wrong gear (reverse) while waiting, creating a significant safety issue. I purchased this vehi

On Aug 1st I started noticing a slight shake in the vehicle on the way to work in the morning. I can best describe this shake or shutter like an imbalanced tire or a misfire. On the way home I noticed that the shutter was only present around 1,100-1,300RPMs while under gentle acceleration. About 6 miles from home I noticed the engine would bog down from time to time and shortly after I could hear
... a slight metallic sound. It was not until I got into town where I was set a slower road speed that I could clearly hear that the metallic sound was a rod knock. I have the hybrid model of the new Tundras, and on that last bit of stretch getting home in town the truck never threw an error or even understood that it was having an engine failure. Towards the end it would kick the engine on and off trying to flip flop between hybrid/EV mode and ICE mode. And some of those instances I think the engine was stalling out. Mine engine never seized up fully, but if it had I question whether or not the ECU would have understood this to disengage the engine from the drivetrain to propel itself only on the MG. As of today (12/5/25) my truck is still down at the shop because of this engine failure. Toyota originally covered a short block replacement under warranty. After the dealership assembled that new engine they are having nothing but one problem after another. After about a month to a month and a half of fighting the new engine Toyota's FTS got involved, were they ordered the new engine to be disassembled for investigation. They found that the new engine had completely destroyed itself, and they claim the cause was from the technician not applying assembly lube on the camshafts. After that Toyota blamed the technician at the dealership and refused to help fix my truck (which is well within the drivetrain warranty). I now have an open arbortation case with the NCDS for this.Read more

VIN: [XXX] Owner: [XXX] Purchase Date: December 2022 I am filing an urgent safety complaint regarding my 2023 Kia Telluride. For nearly two years, I have unknowingly driven this vehicle with multiple active safety recalls, including: •Airbag wiring harness defect (airbags may not deploy) •Seatbelt pretensioner/tensioner defects •Front power seat motor overheating (fire hazard) •Drivesha
... ft engagement defect (vehicle may roll out of Park) Kia never properly notified me of these recalls and never repaired them, despite my family using the vehicle daily. I drove this SUV with my autistic child and infant grandchild, believing it was safe. I have now discovered that Kia allowed me to operate a vehicle that could: •Fail to protect us in a crash •Catch fire •Roll away unexpectedly •Malfunction in ways that could cause severe injury or death This is a serious safety negligence issue. Kia did not offer a loaner vehicle, did not notify me promptly, and has not provided any remedy despite these recalls being federally regulated. I am requesting NHTSA intervention to: 1.Investigate Kia’s failure to properly notify and protect consumers. 2.Require Kia to provide a full replacement vehicle (2025/2026 Kia Telluride) or a full buyback due to prolonged safety risk. 3.Ensure Kia corrects VIN-level recall handling and compliance failures. 4.Document that Kia exposed vulnerable passengers (disabled child and infant grandchild) to unsafe conditions for almost two years. My family has been placed in danger this entire time, and Kia has not provided a timely or adequate remedy. Please investigate this matter urgently. — [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
