I bought a new 2025 Honda Ridgeline truck from Hendrick Honda, Easley, SC and within the first 24 hours the instrument display showed an “auto idle stop error” and to get service at the dealer. I took it back to the dealer within two days, and they said they ran diagnostics and couldn’t find nothing wrong. The service advisor said “it will probably just go away as you drive it more.” Wel
... l, after a couple thousand miles now, it has not gone away but sporadically reappears while driving. I called the service advisor back and he said I could bring the truck back and they could try a diagnostic test again. I asked him to instead contact Honda automotive as this is a known issue with the Ridgeline then call me back to notify me of the solution. He never called back.Read more

I purchased my Hyundai Ioniq 5 on [XXX]. Since then, I have experienced repeated and dangerous failures of the air-conditioning system, which Hyundai and the selling dealership have failed to properly diagnose or repair. On [XXX], while driving, I heard a very loud banging noise coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. Immediately afterward, the air-conditioning system completely shut
... down and stopped producing cold air. Before the extreme Arizona heat began, I repeatedly asked Hyundai on Bell Road in Glendale to properly diagnose the A/C system due to ongoing concerns. Despite the vehicle being under warranty, the technician told me I would have to pay a diagnostic fee before they would evaluate the A/C. As a result, the underlying problem was not properly diagnosed or repaired. On [XXX], the exact same failure occurred again the same loud banging noise followed by a complete loss of air conditioning. The vehicle was taken to Hyundai on Bell Road in Glendale a total of four (4) times, spending 33 days out of service for the same issue. Despite this, the dealership failed to repair the vehicle. On several visits, the car was simply parked, and the dealer later claimed it had been “fixed” one time, even though the problem continued. This defect created a serious safety hazard. During one incident, while driving the vehicle in extreme heat to the dealership for repair, the interior temperature became dangerously high. My phone overheated and shut down, and I nearly passed out while driving. Hyundai Corporate has been unresponsive and dismissive. Rather than addressing the repeated failures and safety risks, I was referred to Lemon Law, where my claim was denied, despite the extensive repair history and time out of service. Instead of repairing the defect or taking responsibility, both the dealership and Hyundai Corporate pressured me to trade in the vehicle and move on, without resolving the underlying problem. I am submitting a safety complaint regarding unexpected and inappropriate automatic braking behavior at low speeds involving the parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and/or automatic emergency braking system. While performing normal, low-speed maneuvers such as backing out of street parking spaces or parking in tight urban environments, the vehicle abruptly applies the brakes even when no i
... mminent collision exists and when obstacles or traffic are clearly visible to the driver. In one frequent scenario, while exiting a parallel out of a parking spot into traffic, the vehicle suddenly stops itself while partially in the roadway due to a car approaching in the rear. This occurs despite sufficient clearance and approaching vehicles slowing to yield or even happens AFTER the approaching vehicle has passed already! This creates a dangerous situation where my vehicle is immobilized in active traffic, increasing the risk of rear-end or side collisions. The driver behind me sees me stopped in middle thinks that I'm waiting for him, when really my intention was to come out of the spot and then finally it releases the emergency brake and then my vehicle juts out into the roadway. Also, during parking maneuvers, the vehicle applies emergency braking despite having enough space, SLOW speed, & the driver having full visual awareness via the backup camera. This removes the driver’s ability to make precise low-speed adjustments. The override behavior is also unsafe. Regaining control requires a firm brake press, after which releasing the pedal causes the vehicle to move abruptly, eliminating precise control and increasing collision risk. This behavior is unpredictable, inappropriate for dense urban driving, & creates hazardous situations rather than preventing them. I believe this constitutes a safety defect in the vehicle’s braking and driver-assist systems. Concerned this could lead to serious accidents, particularly in urban environments. Friends have same problems!Read more

My vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 67C for an engine-compartment fire risk involving the cooling fan module and inadequate fuse protection. I contacted an authorized Ram dealership and Stellantis corporate. Both confirmed that the recall is open and that no repair remedy is currently available. Stellantis has confirmed in writing (Case #95056397) that there is no interim safety solution avai
... lable for affected owners while this recall remains unresolved. This vehicle is my primary residence. Stellantis has offered rental reimbursement, but this does not provide a safe or realistic interim solution for a vehicle that functions as both transportation and housing. The manufacturer has acknowledged a fire risk but has provided no interim safety guidance or accommodation for owners who cannot reasonably stop using the vehicle while awaiting a remedy. I am reporting this as a safety concern due to the lack of a remedy and the absence of interim safety guidance for affected owners. Stellantis has issued a stop-sale on affected vehicles, confirming the seriousness of the defect, while existing owners remain without a viable safety alternative.Read more

I purchased my 2007 Toyota Camry brand new. Since early ownership, the vehicle has suffered from excessive engine oil consumption. Toyota acknowledged this issue and performed major engine repairs at a Toyota dealership, including replacing pistons and piston rings under their oil consumption program, but the defect continued. The vehicle continues to consume approximately 1.5 quarts of oil every
... 1–2 months. This defect affects engine reliability and long-term safety. Despite these repairs, the oil consumption problem was never resolved. I was instructed by Toyota to track the amount of oil I was forced to purchase and was told I would be reimbursed. I complied, but Toyota never reimbursed me. I have an extensive repair history with Toyota. A Toyota dealership technician informed me that my repair history is unusually extensive and described it as a “book” in Toyota’s system. The vehicle continues to consume excessive oil, requiring frequent top-offs that pose a risk of engine failure if not constantly monitored. Toyota has failed to permanently correct a known defect despite repeated repair attempts. I believe this is a widespread defect affecting 2007 Toyota Camry vehicles equipped with the 2AZ-FE engine and request NHTSA review this matter.Read more

To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this letter as a **formal safety complaint** regarding repeated transmission failure in my **2019 Chevrolet Traverse**, which poses a potential risk to vehicle safety. In **December 2024**, while the vehicle was still covered under General Motors’ factory powertrain warranty, an authorized GM dealership diagnosed a serious
... transmission defect. Due to parts being on national backorder, the repair was delayed. When the repair was eventually performed, only partial components (torque converter and valve body) were replaced rather than the full transmission. Despite this repair, the transmission **failed again less than one year later**. In **November 2025**, a second authorized GM dealership confirmed that the transmission now requires **full replacement** and that the prior repair did not correct the underlying defect. The transmission failure has resulted in **slipping, hesitation, and loss of proper power delivery**, which creates a **potential safety hazard**, particularly during acceleration, merging, and highway driving. A loss of propulsion or delayed response in traffic significantly increases the risk of an accident. This issue was identified while the vehicle was under warranty and was not properly resolved. The repeat failure suggests a **systemic defect** rather than normal wear. General Motors has declined further assistance. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint as part of its monitoring of potential **powertrain defects** affecting vehicle safety. I moved my Genesis GV-70 to my home in Reno, NV. My complaint is in regard to my car becoming very dangerous! I'm giving you my move to Reno because its relevant to this complaint. I didn't need quick acceleration while I was living in Florida. In Reno, I have to merge onto Route 80 everywhere that I go. Acceleration during a merger is extremely important here in Reno. So what I've experienc
... ed in Reno is a VERY DANGEROUS situation with my Genesis. My GV-70 stops accelerating around 40MPH, or roughly 5,000 RPM. The transmission stalls out and the car revs at 5000 but does not respond. I've almost been rear ended by tractor trailers and other vehicles because of this dangerous situation. I have since found out that my recall for a ECM Software Update-P030X Misfire problem is the acceleration issue that I've described. Here is my complaint: My car should not be allowed to be driven in this current condition. Genesis has understated the severity of this issue dramatically and certainly the language in their recall letter didn't reference not being able to accelerate past 40 MPH/5,000 RPM. I didn't experience this issue while driving mostly local roads in Fort Myers Florida, but here in Reno, this car and it's condition is DANGEROUS! It has caused near misses with very catastrophic consequences. I am driving my car to Rocklin California (2 hours away) next week for service which includes the Misfire problem as well as other service issues. The Misfire recall should taken my car off the road, Genesis did not address the severity and dangerous possibilities of this issue.Read more

... reakage (SGB) incident potentially caused by thermal stress or manufacturing defect rather than external impact. Crucially, some of the remaining glass fragments and one large attached piece are displaced and flexed OUTWARD (upward toward the sky). There are also fracture lines in the remaining glass along and parallel to the sides of the vehicle as well as parallel to the front frame of the glass. They do not radiate out from a central point as one would expect from an object strike. This geometry to me indicates internal tension or cabin pressure release, as an external impact from a projectile would have forced the glass inward into the cabin. Additionally, there was very little glass in the vehicle cabin, certainly far less than one would expect given the size of the opening in the sunroof and the amount of glass missing. I have personally previously been in a vehicle whose side window was blown out from a vehicle kicked rock strike and in that case was showered with a lot of glass. Yesterdays catastrophic failure resulted in some glass intrusion into the passenger cabin at highway speeds, creating a severe distraction with sound was loud & sudden enough to potentially cause a loss of vehicle control. I am aware of similar reports regarding the 2023-2024 Sportage (and previous Kia panoramic sunroof class actions) regarding the use of ceramic glazing or assembly stresses that contribute to such failures. I request an investigation into whether the current model's panoramic roof assembly is capable of withstanding extreme thermal differentials and body flex.Read more

Driving through a parking lot, less than five miles an hour, and suddenly heard a horrible knocking sound. Stopped and looked under the car. Nothing. Drove it very slowly to mechanic less than a mile away. Front drive shaft had collapsed and fallen down, according to the mechanic.

Description of the Safety Problem While converting the Doona infant car seat from vehicle mode to stroller mode, the wheel deployment mechanism caused the harness straps to tighten automatically and forcefully around the infant. When the caregiver activated the wheel-deployment handle after removing the seat from the vehicle, the harness tension increased suddenly without any adjustment being ma
... de to the harness. The infant immediately screamed, and visible bruising was later observed consistent with excessive strap compression. At no point was the harness adjuster intentionally tightened by the caregiver. The tightening occurred solely during stroller wheel deployment. Injury Details The infant sustained visible bruising in areas consistent with harness compression. Medical evaluation is being pursued. The incident caused acute distress to the infant. Suspected Cause / Design Concern The car seat was received second-hand. It is suspected that the soft goods (padding) may have been removed for cleaning by a prior owner and reinstalled incorrectly, allowing the harness webbing to be routed over a moving component of the wheel deployment mechanism rather than under it. However, removing and reinstalling padding is a foreseeable and expected user action. A child restraint system should not allow a foreseeable reassembly error to result in automatic tightening of the harness during normal operation. The wheel deployment mechanism should be mechanically isolated from the harness system or designed so that incorrect routing is physically impossible or results in loss of function rather than injury. Why This Is a Safety Issue Harness tension should never change automatically during stroller or wheel deployment. A foreseeable misuse led to a dangerous condition rather than a fail-safe condition. The design appears to allow a moving mechanical component to apply force to the infant restraint system. This creates a risk of injury that may not be immediately obviRead more

Tesla self driving detects and sets a speed limit and displays it as a speed limit icon. I used self driving to exit my driveway, which turns onto a dirt road with a speed limit of 15 MPH. Near the bottom of the driveway self driving suddenly reset the speed limit from 10 MPH to 55 MPH. The car then accelerated abruptly shortly before the turn onto the dirt road. There is no mechanism for over
... riding the speed limit the Tesla self driving automatically selects. It is clear that the speed of the vehicle is adjusted according to the speed limit that Tesla self driving selects. Before I could regain control of the vehicle I was almost into the field opposite the driveway. The inability to re-set the automatically selected speed limit is dangerous. The speed limit has spontaneously reset to 55 MPH on two other occasions, and the vehicle spontaneously speeded up.Read more
