After 2474 miles, the vehicle Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed in my 2025 Kia EV6 making the vehicle undrivable so it had to be towed to the Kia dealer. The ICCU was replaced under warranty. The failure of the ICCU in Kia, Hyundai and Genesis electric vehicles is fairly common and they have yet to come up with a permanent solution.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Response: Frame, Suspension, Airbags / Yes it is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Response: Safety was put at risk due to frame & suspension failure due to severe rust. Also due to failure of deployment of AirBags. Rusted Frame Failure subsequent
... ly caused safety of Injured Party and other motorists to be at risk due to the Injured Party’s 4Runner to dart across oncoming lane of traffic with no warning other than a swaying motion felt immediately before losing control. Once the Injured Party lost control of the 4Runner it crossed into oncoming traffic, progressing into the drainage ditch on the oncoming traffic side of highway. Once the 4Runner impacted the drainage ditch at a 90° angle, the 4Runners momentum dispersed by causing the 4Runner to overturn 3 times landing on its wheels in the adjoining field. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Repaonse: Independent Service Center has confirmed the problem with the Rusted Frame, Rusted Suspension, and Air Bag failure. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Response : Yes Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Repaint: No warning lamps prior to failure. Symptoms indicative of failure were an unknown minor swaying sensation while driving. Injured party was under the impression that there may have been a tire low on air, which was discovered to be incorrect later.Read more

The vehicle has been taken to the dealership at least 4 times. Each time for the same reason: when driving at 65 or higher, it sounds like it's on a flat. My screen also glitches when foot is taken off the break after a stop. The service advisor told me that there was a shortage of mechanics and asked me to bring it back next week (this is the response I have gotten each time). I have asked for a
... loaner twice and was told that there were none available. Therefore, I had to pay $40 to uber to work. Today, I said that I couldn't come back because it's the same issue and I have to work next week. He then let me speak to a service manager. The service manager drove it (with me in the passenger seat) and heard the sound. He noticed that it was not all of the time and that my steering wheel was a little shifty. When it was finally "fixed" (tires being rotated and some steering update), I was told to come back if I hear it again. I left at about 2pm and heard the sound again, as well as my screen began to glitch when I get off the break after a complete stop. I took a video of the glitching and took it back for both issues. I was told that some bolts were tightened and some update was done to the screen, and if I hear it again come back. On my way home at 4:35pm, the issues were not resolved.Read more

I've been experiencing issues with steering loosening/tighting for over 1 1/2 years.21,000 miles since I first reported the issue 5/23/24.Within a few months of reporting the steering issue,I started having issues with my car not staying in alligment after a few hundred miles. There are no warning lights. The tension in my steering wheel is inconsistent in a way that it shouldn't be. At first,I onl
... y noticed it at hwy speeds. Now,I notice it even at lower speeds. The faster the speed the worse it is.My steering wheel will have the stiffness it should, then suddenly briefly loosen, then go back to normal stiffness.Which causes constant minor corrections, risking over correcting leading to a wreck.I have had a couple close calls. As time has gone on,it's just gotten worse. It's now to a point that it's sketchy to drive on the freeway & nearly impossible (if not impossible)to drive on the freeway if its windy.I no longer drive the freeway & find back roads to drive at slower speeds & less traffic.I constantly feel all over the road & like the car is gonna wobble out of control.Picture taking your steering wheel & making frequent(almost constantly now)slight back and forth, back and forth, movements, that's basically what it feels like. The higher the speed while doing that, the higher risk to wreck. When I feel like I'm gonna wobble out of control,I tightly grip the steering wheel, straighten&lock my arms,& let off the gas &let the car slow on its own.I feel if I use the brakes in that moment,I'd lose control. It's almost like it briefly gets too much power steering,or disengages maybe?Dealership initially said I just need new tires & alligment (all tire tread @6)11/20/24 new tires&alligment.6 alligments&cameras calibrated in 3,285 miles.Gave up after 7. 3/25/25 dealership replaced steering column, housing,& reprogrammed. For a short while it helped, but didn't fix steering or alligment. I was driving on the highway when I heard a pop like a loud fuse sound from the back seat area. Suddenly the car dropped 15 mph from 70 mph to 55 mph and the battery and electrical system warning lights came on and the vehicle said check electrical system. I was able to continue with my hazard lights on to exit the highway, at which point the max speed of the vehicle dropped to 45 mph. It would no
... t go faster no matter how hard I pushed the gas pedal. I was able to pull over to a gas station and park in a spot but the vehicle had to be towed. When the tow truck arrived, the vehicle also flashed with the 12V battery low warning. It was diagnosed as a failed ICCU, which rapidly drained the 12V battery. The car is only 4 months old with about 7,300 miles. This is a serious safety concern, especially with the sudden failure and loss of power. I’m lucky I wasn’t hit and that I was able to get off the road before it totally died.Read more

The car is experiencing the same problem reported on technical service bulletin SA187 (Blind spot detection (BSD) system logic improvement (SA 187)) BUT KIA states my VIN number is not listed under the service bulletin and therefore I have to pay $189 to get a software upgrade done. ... back after a few days. To me this issue should have been made a recall because of its criticality... the BSD system is a core safety feature of cars and reduces accidents substantially. There was no way for me to know my car has this problem unless it is made a recall. I have NOT had any accident related to this issue but i had to pick an incident date to complete this complaint. I have called KIA customer service at 1-800-333-4542 twice to find out whether the VIN number should be included in the service bulletin and the answer was no and whether i should report this to NHTSA with the possibility that certain VIN numbers were left out of the service bulletin in error. No answer as to what to do to investigate this was given by KIA. That's why i'm reporting this on here. The service bulletin has been attached to this complaint. My question to NHTSA is whether certain vehicles were left out of the service bulletin in error and whether the manufacturer is liable for the repair at no cost to the consumer. If NHTSA finds out the manufacturer is liable will you notify them to pay on a case per case basis or will you make this service bulletin a recall? Again this is SAFETY HAZARD that can cause crashes and accidents. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

CRITICAL SAFETY DEFECT: HIGH-SPEED BRAKING SURGE & ELECTRICAL FAILURE Life safety concerning ! 1. Braking Failure at Highway Speeds: The vehicle exhibits a severe safety defect involving unintended acceleration/surging while braking. While driving in 'D' (Drive) mode at approximately 50 MPH, when applying the brakes to stop for traffic/red lights, the vehicle fails to decelerate immediately. Inst
... ead of slowing down, the vehicle surges forward against the braking input, feeling like a loss of regenerative braking authority. This results in extended stopping distances and near-miss collision risks at high speeds. 2. Charging & Electrical System Failure (Suspected Recalls): The vehicle suffers from persistent electrical failures that the dealer dismissed as "user error" or a "bad plug," but which match known Audi safety recalls: (A)AC & On-Board Charger Failure: The vehicle threw "AC System" error codes and fails to charge reliably, shutting off after short periods. This mirrors symptoms of Recall 93FR (High-Voltage Battery/On-Board Charger), risking a 12V battery stall. My car model was among those impacted recalled car dearies even now it is not listed as one of the recall Model by VIN#, I strongly suspected my car has same defect. Many websites have address this life threatening issue would [XXX] ." (B):Charging Cable Overheating: The included 220V charging cable is suspected to be defective (matching Recall 93U6), which poses a fire risk at the outlet. (C)Interior Voltage Instability: Wired USB-C ports cut power/disconnect devices less than 5 minutes of use. 3. Dealer Negligence: The dealership (Audi Tysons Corner) failed to diagnose these issues ("Could Not Replicate"), refused to replace the recalled charging cable, and released the vehicle with active "Inspection Due" warning lights. 13 Jun 25 2100 hrs - Auto went thru multiple of errors and transmission would not go into gear, electric door locks released all emergency pull handles and car was not able to move. Called Audi Emergency Service. Tried to get out of vehicle and door could not be opened from inside the vehicle. I had friend come and get me out of vehicle by me pushing on the inside and her pulling the emergency
... pull. DANGEROUS! Emergency Service could not come to tow vehicle for three days because of being on an Air Force base and no tow companies that Audi contracted with had a realID or a clean criminal record. 16 June, Audi finally finds company to tow vehicle, at that point vehicle had completely died and could not be jump started. Car towed to Audi Service. Car in service for three weeks and I was told it was just a bad battery. I took vehicle with doubts of repair and for the next four months car would pop multiple software errors specifically on driver assist, no sound, dash going completely blank while driving, etc. The next major electrical failure was on 17 Nov, once again car would not start nor could it be jump started by tow company. Car once again towed to Audi on the same day. Car in service until 23 Dec and Audi said it was related to TSB 2079690/4 and they have stated that the KD2 should resolve electrical issue with driver door module constantly running and killing car. One day later, already popping driver assist errors. This car is dangerous and Audi knows that this KD2 is a band-aid on a software system that is unreliable and still has no permanent fix. I fear being stranded on a highway and either being stuck in my vehicle and can't get out or not being able to get in car if I get out to try and open hood to check vehicle, I might not be able to get back in because of electric locks.Read more

On December 28 the tailgate on my Volvo 2025 xc60 PHEV began to open and close randomly while it was not running, parked in my garage and and plugged in. After closing the tailgate again, I now locked the car via the app. When I checked again in 15 minutes the car was unlocked, but the tailgate was still closed. All of these incidents happened between 8 am and 9:45am. I was able to take video and still pictures of the incidents. Several weeks ago, I was driving and noticed that my tailgate was open. I had recently left a shopping center so I figured I had some how not closed the tailgate properly. This would be the first time I ever made such a mistake. I pulled over, closed the tailgate and continued on. I now wonder if this was a similar problem. Safety risks include injury to people from the tailgate itself and risk of loss and damage to items in the vehicle and the vehicle itself. They brought out a 2026 Elevation Quad Cab with the 2.7L; less than 20 miles on the odometer. The same vibration was present in 2nd gear at same RPM band. I requested that the issue be escalated to a local GM rep. for further investigation. However the response from the dealer was inadequate and basically stated that no warranty work would be considered because it seems to be “normal operation”.Read more

I wanted to add to a previous claim I had already submitted, I found an item that had fallen out of my engine, I don't know if I can submit a picture on here but I will try.

Dome lights in vehicle turn on and off on their own. Trying to turn them off does not work. They keep turning off and on. This seems to be a known issue by other owners and the dealerships. At night it is very distracting and could be dangerous when a lone driver is paying more attention trying to turn them off or having visibility issue with the light turning on inside the car.

Repaired a friend's vehicle that had a total brake failure. Vehicle only has 50k miles and no brake repair history. Blew all of the brake fluid out of the stainless braided line coming from master cylinder rear brake channel to abs module. Found the line coming from the front channel to master cylinder also starting to fray and come apart as well. Did not blow out yet. No evidence of brake lines
... rubbing on any components or that anything has been apart or touched before. Line looks to have failed from the inside out.Read more

I am submitting this as a supplemental statement to my existing NHTSA safety complaint regarding my electric vehicle, KIA EV6, 2023 model. Since my original filing, the vehicle has now experienced loss of power / loss of propulsion a total of three times. These incidents occur without warning, are unpredictable, and render the vehicle unsafe to operate. The vehicle can suddenly lose motive power,
... creating a serious risk of collision, particularly in traffic or at speed. The manufacturer and authorized dealership have been unable to identify the root cause or permanently repair the defect. Dealer documentation reflects that the issue “cannot be replicated,” and no corrective action beyond temporary battery charging or system reset has been performed. No explanation has been provided as to why the power loss occurred or how it will be prevented from recurring. Because the defect is intermittent and safety-critical, I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle and have stopped operating it entirely. A reasonable consumer would consider repeated, unexplained loss of propulsion to present an unreasonable risk to safety. I am submitting this update so NHTSA is aware that: The defect is recurrent (three incidents) The condition remains unresolved The vehicle is unsafe for continued use I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter for potential investigation, as loss of propulsion in an electric vehicle poses a serious safety hazard to the driver and others on the road. Thank you for your attention to this safety concern. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Hi, to whom it may concern my dashboard lights have been on for months now and I’ve taken it to the dealership I purchased my car from and it comes back that it’s the turbo that needs replacing. The pricing of that is ridiculous and I’m currently not the ONLY one with this issue ! It’s an ALL AROUND THE WORLD thing! I’m not sure about anybody else but I don’t have that type of money pl
... us while paying other important bills ! There should be a recall against the turbo replacement as well! And just what if I was to get the turbo replacement and then the lights come back on, because I’ve seen multiple people saying the replacement didn’t help with the lights and still have gotten other things done and the lights only off for a couple days ! Indeed of answers because this is ridiculous!Read more
