Car is in shop 3rd time 2020 sorento with 2.4l thete ii gdi engine. In May e went in p1326 code of death, knocking and blinking light. They put a band aid on. When p1326 originally happened we were on the highway and it just decellateared and loud knock! Luckily we were okay and got over fast. It started with the oil. I constantly have to add oil. when it first started that’s what I was doing just adding oil. Then it got worse the engine light started to come on and it no longer gives me the low oil warning. I took it to the dealership and it was there for about three weeks. They said that the car needed a system update, they updated it and i took it home after that. Its been about a
... year since then and my car is still having the same issue and getting worse. I had to change the spark plugs a few times since then i also have oil coming out the back pipe and it’s been doing this since before I took it to the dealership. I also had to spend money on a rental car while it was at the dealership.Read more

I was pulling into a parking space at my church, same place I routinely parked. I was moving forward slowly with foot on brake alternating lifting foot to move forward until I was all the way in. As I lifted my foot from the brake, the car suddenly accelerated forward, going over the cement parking block, on to the grass and sidewalk before it stopped. Two metal handrails along the steps into the
... larger parking lot. Fortunately, no one was hit or injured, including myself. The result was major damage of the left side. Aside from the exterior, the car worked as it always has. I reported the collision to my insurance company, State Farm, and they directed me to a Hyundai repair shop. I know the fault was not mine for 3 reasons: 1) Once I turn into a spot to park, I always move slow, using the method mentioned above. I never use the gas pedal once I'm facing straight in the parking space; 2) My word would, of course, not be enough to relieve me of the responsibility for what happened. However, if I had stepped on the gas, though I know I didn't, the car would not be able to go from just stopping its forward move to the sudden and very fast acceleration that normally would require several seconds to reach that speed; and, 3) This was the 2nd time sudden acceleration happened, the 1st time was in June 2024 during a 3-point turn on a residential street. I completed the turn, ready to go forward, when the car suddenly and rapidly accelerated, jumping a curb and hitting a fire hydrant. My left front grill sustained damage, but since the car worked well, I did not report this to State Farm, waiting until I was willing to pay the deductible. This 2nd episode had me researching the Internet to see if there were others who experienced sudden accelerating with resulting fatalities. I believe my car has a defect and gives no warning when it will occur. My driving record is excellent. I don't speed and I drive defensively. My 2 brothers and 2 male in-laws said I'm a good driverRead more

My wife was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when at about 10ft from curb the car suddenly accelerated faster than she even thought the car even was capable of (the AWD likely helped). It hopped the curb and hit a tree. She backed it up to the parking spot (it acted normally) and had it towed to dealer. In hindsight, the car had been having a progressive amount and frequency of delay in norm
... al acceleration, sometimes having a pause of up to second or two from pedal input to car response. We asked the dealer to check the EDR (event data recorder). The tech first said he didn't even know what that was, then that he checked with all his fellow techs and they didn't know either, then the story changed to the model not having an EDR. We politely told him which page in the Hyundai manual he can find it, and he refused to look, as did his boss. Car was transferred to a body shop, and disposition was to total the vehicle. While the body shop was still evaluating the car, we contacted a second dealer, who said they don't have a reader. I inspected the floormats before the car was towed, as that was an initial suspect, but it was locked in and clearly there was no obstruction. She was wearing tennis shoes and doesn't recall ever having an instance of hitting the wrong pedal in any vehicle. She thinks she was only coasting, not even touching the brake yet.Read more

This is an update to my previous entry regarding my 2025 Honda Pilot. The car dealership brought the Pilot back to us in February, 2025, stating there was nothing more they could do and told us it was unfixable. From February until current, we continue to experience the same safety concerns: We will be driving it on the highway, going 70 mph, the Pilot brakes hard to half its speed, and all safety
... features are disabled. Every single time we drive it. We are left with only the gas and brakes. It will randomly come back to full function, sometimes it takes 15 minutes, sometimes it's 45 minutes. This occurs in clear weather where nothing is blocking the radar. We are fearful that it's only a matter of time before we get hit from behind. There is no way to disengage the Adaptive Cruise Control in this vehicle and have standard cruise control. Honda has stated that it is not "unsafe enough" for them to help us. I never imagined I would spend this kind of money on a new vehicle and be fearful of driving it. And that there is no solution to fix it. They took our money and have been completely unethical.Read more

The Instrument Cluster, the Speedometer and "NOW" the Odometer are not working--absolutely dead. "NOW" is in caps because to my surprise I noticed just recently that the Odometer is not working. (This repair was done
... after several months of back and forth to more than one Kia Dealer about this problem. Unlike now where the Speedometer is dead, not moving at all, at that time it would stop working periodically, perhaps when my car was cold or not. It took several months of dealing with Kia dealerships to acknowledge that it was a problem.) Right after the replacement in 2021, I texted the PEAK KIA mechanics-representative, named Trevor, that it was still a problem, not working every now and then. He replied in a text "What?" and that he would check with his technician. He never got back to me with an answer, and would not return my phone calls.) Since that time, I've been dealing with this infrequent or sometimes-problem. Note, I work from home so I do not drive my car every day, only once or twice a week. However, just recently before and around the holidays, I noticed first that the Speedometer was dead, the needle was not moving at all during the entire time of driving, instead of every now and then. And closer to the holidays, I was shocked, noticing that the Odometer was NOW not moving. This had never been the case before. To date, I only have a Powertrain Warranty(?) left that expires in December 2028. I called Kia, the manufacturer, the other day and reported the above information. They said too bad, they will not cover it because the warranty for that 2021 repair expired 12 months after the repair, something I did not know. My concern is whether the Kia Dealer, Arapahoe Kia--where I usually go , will or should cover it. Plus, I feel this is a serious safety issue.Read more

There is a known issue with the Cylinder Heads on specific models of Mercedes vehicles. Symptoms of M264 Cylinder Head Failure If your GLE 350 is experiencing these symptoms, it may be covered under the extension: Check Engine Light (MIL): Often triggered by misfire codes. This is not being addressed my Mercedes USA where Mercedes Canada has offered an extended warranty. Using social media I have comprised a list of over a hundred impacted owners. Many more exist. What this does is cost catastrophic failure of the engine leaving the driver stranded in whatever lanes they were traveling in. I am disabled and for me this created a life threatening situation. When reaching out to MBUSA the answer is simply "not warranty exists" where MB Canada has extended the warranty to an additional 15k miles from notice. My engine blew. Summary of Safety Defect: While my 16 year old daughter was driving our 2014 Kia Soul in December 2025, the car suddenly lost power in traffic and would not go over 20 mph; the check engine light came on and the vehicle entered limp mode. The sudden drop in power created a high anxiety, hazardous situation for my daughter, who had only had her license for a week, during rush hour traffic. The vehi
... cle was unsafe to operate and had to be towed. Details of the Incident: Diagnostic trouble code P1326 (Knock Sensor Detection System) was confirmed by the Kia dealership. P1326 is part of Kia’s known engine defect population and is tied to safety related engine failures. The dealership documented oil consumption, oil fouled spark plugs, and compression readings below Kia’s minimum specification on all cylinders. The dealership concluded in writing that engine replacement is required. Despite this, Kia denied warranty coverage based solely on a bearing clearance test, without completing the full diagnostic process required under the KSDS settlement. The vehicle remains unsafe and inoperable. Why This Is a Safety Issue: The sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate above ~20 mph created a dangerous situation for my daughter and surrounding traffic. This is a known defect pattern in Kia vehicles covered under the KSDS program. The failure occurred without warning and could have resulted in a collision. Requested Action: I am reporting this because Kia has not responded to my two complaints nor properly addressed a safety related engine defect that is already part of a national settlement. The incomplete diagnostic process and denial of coverage leave the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I request that NHTSA review this incident as part of the ongoing safety concerns involving Kia GDI engines and P1326 related failures.Read more

On the drive home the car dinged at me and put up the "Power Limited" message with the turtle icon. This limited me to 15mph maximum, so I ended up driving home in the shoulder as the roads are 50mph roads and would have created a major incident if I tried to stay in the lane. I was within a mile of my house so I limped home and pulling into the driveway the car switched to "Check Electrical Syste
... ms" and "12V battery voltage low. Stop Safely" as I pulled into the garage. This was at 8pm so I was not able to do anything else. I was able to have Hyundai Roadside Assistance tow the car, which did turn on next day in the morning to pull out of the garage and turn around. The car sat at the dealership for a week until they were able to look at it an confirm that the ICCU was broken. This happened right before New Years so I get taking a week to look at it. Right now they mentioned the part is on backorder and there is no schedule for repairs. This is a major issue for this line of cars and needs to be resolved. The car is not safe to drive long distance as this is the second time this has happened. For a 2023 model year it is almost a yearly occurrence now. My warranty will run out by mileage in ~44k miles and at that point this defect will be my responsibility.Read more
