... sun. It also casts a wavering, and fluttering, flag like reflection on top of, to the side of, and much bigger than the blue oval. It also has brightness to it as it flutters and waves. All of this is primarily a nuisance, and somewhat of a distraction, although because it is an opaque reflection, the driver can see through the reflection to the roadway. To the extent it is a distraction it poses a safety concern. That, however, is not the major safety concern. Again, depending on the direction of driving and the location of the sun, periodically a bright, blinding, spotlight reflection is cast on the windshield causing momentary blindness to the driver. To avoid danger, the driver must stop (impossible to do in moving traffic), change direction (impossible to do immediately in moving traffic) or move his/her head to try to momentarily diminish, or avoid, the intense glare of the spotlight on the eyes until a stop, or change in direction, is possible. Obviously, while safety belted into the driver's seat, and operating a moving vehicle, moving one's head, even slightly, is difficult. The danger to, and the safety of, the driver, passengers in the vehicle, if any, and other vehicles on the roadway, is manifest. The problem, to some extent, had been confirmed by the dealer local service center. The response has been that, at least at the present time, nothing can be done to remediate the problem. The mechanic performed an oil change and drilled a hole in the catalytic converter, and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the spark plugs were saturated in engine oil. The dealer flushed the radiator and performed a second oil change; however, the dealer refused to perform the recall repair. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who replaced the spark plugs but refused to repair the engine until the recall was repaired. The contact stated that later while coasting downhill in neutral (N) after adding a quart of engine oil due to no oil in the engine, he heard an implosion coming from behind the driver's side front seat. No warning light was illuminated. The contact unbuckled his seat belt and jumped out of the vehicle, fracturing his ribs. This creates a risk of collision, especially when merging or at intersections.Approximately six months into my lease, the radiator failed and had to be replaced. More recently, while driving, multiple warnings appeared at once: Hybrid System Malfunction, Battery System Malfunction, Oil Monitoring Malfunction, and i-ACTIVSENSE partially disabled. These warnings were documented.Two weeks prior, the dealership reported no diagnostic codes. However, on my most recent visit, I was told via video that the active air shutter is now the issue. The required part is on backorder until August. I was told I could either remain in a non-comparable loaner while still making full lease payments, or continue driving the vehicle in its current condition until the part arrives. I find this unacceptable given the safety concerns.I expressed that I do not feel safe driving this vehicle, but the service advisor stated this is “not a safety concern.” I disagree. A vehicle that jerks, hesitates, or stalls while driving, combined with multiple system malfunctions and disabled safety features, presents a clear safety risk.I also disclosed prior to leasing that I do not have access to charging. I was told this would not be an issue. I am now being told that not charging the vehicle may be contributing to the problem. Service advisors have also indicated these vehicles have known hybrid battery issues.I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle and am concerned for my safety and my family’s safety.Read more
