After the PGM-FI update was put into our car, the engine cuts out entirely while at stop lights and will not wake back up. The Honda dealership is saying that there is nothing they can do.

Two things: my auto start/stop often shuts off, and the display reads: "Auto stop/start is disabled/hood open," though it's not. I turned the car off and turned it back on and tried to put it into drive and shifted between park and drive and the engine still would not start. I ended up having to wait for about five minutes with the engine shut off at that point. I turned the engine back on and was able to put the car into drive. This was a dangerous situation because of heavy traffic surrounding my car and not being able to move the vehicle as it was stopped in the middle of the road. Audi has begun a service campaign for this known failure, but it should be upgraded to a recall as this is a serious safety hazard.Read more

... nosis, I had to visit the dealer and was told the steering column was the issue and needed to be replaced. I contacted Hyundai America to report this issue and currently waiting on a response from their warranty to see if they will cover all or a percentage of the replacement of the steering column since my mileage is over their 100k (113k to be exact) coverage. While I appreciate their efforts, I also feel this could have resulted in a very serious incident had my daughter been driving on the highway when this occurred. Thankfully, she was picking me from home and it happened as we drove off from our house in our neighborhood. A steering column should outlast any other part(s) of a vehicle. If not, this is a huge safety concern. My [XXX] was also in the car at the time and I cannot even imagine how I would recover if something worse were to happen while he's on board. Dealer's proposal so far has been to replace rear wiring harness at $7000. It sounds to me that there is a manufacturing problem. Who ever heard of a wiring harness go bad? I believe this to be a poor electronic sensor/device, or perhaps poor wiring. Either case it would be the manufacturers fault. And I believe that the manufacturer should repair it at their expense. I grew up in a garage and never heard of anything like this. The car approximately 21000 miles. All of them are easy highway miles with no abuse or offroad/dirt road use. Yesterday my wife heard about a Subaru that was doing the same thing. Maybe someone in Japan is manufacturing faulty parts. If so that is the manufacturers problem, not mine. So far the car has not stalled going down the highway but one drives it with an uneasy feeling. Stopping without warning on the roadway would be very dangerous. The vehicle is currently at the dealership as of 9/20/2024, they are trying to replicate the issue however it has been more than 2 weeks, and they have not found a resolution. They have run diagnostics tests and there was nothing that indicated the issue with the vehicle. Also, the adaptive cruise control was not working properly and at one point when a car in front of me moved over out of my lane, the car accelerated hard and brought me up to about what was probably about 90-100mph, not even close to where it was set earlier. 2 hour drive without screen or these safety features and the screen still is not back. The engine light went on while driving on the highway. We immediately pulled over and had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. The dealership informed us that both the Brake Actuator (Toyota part TO44500-47141) and water pump (Toyota par TOG9020-47031) had failed. The car was no longer save to drive.
