... o Ourisman Chantilly Kia for service. Upon arrival at the dealership, I requested a loaner vehicle. However, it took an entire week for one to be provided, leaving me without transportation for a significant period of time. I was informed that the dealership needed my approval to take apart the transmission, which I gave immediately. Despite this, for the next two weeks, I called daily for updates, only to be told that no new information was available and that the dealership was still waiting for guidance from Kia's technical team. After two weeks of no progress, I asked my service advisor, Sean, what had actually been done to my car. He informed me that the only action taken was draining the transmission fluid. I was baffled that it had taken two weeks just to drain the fluid while waiting for Kia's tech team to respond. Out of frustration, I contacted Kia directly, and within minutes, I was informed that Kia had approved a new transmission a week earlier—something the dealership had failed to communicate to me. When I informed the dealership of this, Sean confirmed that the new transmission had arrived, and I was told the car would be ready by the end of the week. However, this deadline passed with no progress. Over the course of several more weeks, I was repeatedly told the car would be done by the end of the week, only for that promise to be broken each time. Sean then explained to me that there is only one mechanic certified to work on my car, which was causing a delay. If this is indeed true, it could explain why Kia's service department is so backlog INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIONRead more

Dear NHTSA Defects and Recall Team, My name is [XXX] , and I am writing this email along with my wife, [XXX] , to report a serious safety issue with our 2023 Kia Sportage. I am writing to bring a serious, ongoing vehicle safety issue involving a Kia Sportage to your attention. My family and I are facing repeated, hazardous malfunctions with our vehicle that have led us to fear for our lives, as
... well as the safety of others on the road. Since mid-September, our 2023 Kia Sportage has experienced sudden, unanticipated shut-offs both while parked and, most dangerously, while driving. During these incidents, the brake pedal becomes completely unresponsive, hazard lights fail to activate, and the vehicle is left stranded and inoperable. Most recently, while driving in traffic, the car shut off without warning, leaving us in an extremely vulnerable position. These repeated failures could lead to a catastrophic accident, especially considering we often travel with our [XXX] child in the vehicle. Despite notifying Kia and seeking assistance from their customer service team, the issue remains unresolved, and their response has been unacceptably slow. Given the severity of these malfunctions and their direct impact on public safety, we respectfully request your support in addressing this matter. We believe Kia has a responsibility to ensure the safety of its vehicles and to take immediate action when serious safety risks arise. We request that the NHTSA investigate the issue and consider any necessary recalls or further action to ensure public safety. We would appreciate any guidance or assistance your office could provide in helping us resolve this life-threatening issue. Complaint Summary: I am the current owner of a 2014 Kia Optima, which is affected by recall 23V652 related to the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU). The vehicle was imported to the UAE, and the recall was not addressed by the previous owner. As a result, I am now facing significant safety issues. These symptoms align with the issues outlined in the recall notice, indicating that the vehicle may pose a safety risk to me and other road users. It was only recently that I discovered the recall information online, which has heightened my concern regarding the safety of my vehicle and the potential for further complications. Given these circumstances, I am requesting assistance from the NHTSA in resolving this recall issue and guidance on how to proceed with the necessary repairs while the vehicle is registered under my name in the UAE. It is crucial for me to ensure the safety of my vehicle for my own protection and for the safety of others on the road. When I pick up the car 50 hours later, the job is NOT even started for one door. As such, I officially file this claim to urge NHTSA to investigate what is the percentage completion for this recall for Ford? It takes me 2-3 hours to replace 1 door latch, that may be takes too time for dealer and therefore they chose to put the safety of customer at the lowest priority, and bet on customer running out of patience to replace by themselves, just like I have done, TWICE. All of a sudden, the accelerator pedal stopped working --- all I really know is that the car wouldn't accelerate, regardless of how much I pressed on the pedal, and the car had to roll to a stop. A bunch of warning lights came on about the brakes malfunctioning, but I don't remember if the brakes actually stopped working (I was more focused on the fact that I couldn't accelerate --- this happened
... right as I was starting to move after a red light turned green). Thankfully this happened when I was going slowly in a residential area --- if I had been on the freeway and unable to get over to the shoulder before the car came to a halt, this could have caused a serious/fatal accident (or if the brakes really had stopped working, even in a residential area I could have crashed into something/someone). The car remained unresponsive until I turned the whole thing off and on again, at which point it started working like normal (although still with the warnings). I took the car to my dealership and they ran diagnostics, but they couldn't find anything and couldn't reproduce the problem when they drove it around, so they just shrugged and said I should "keep an eye on it and see if it happens again". So unfortunately I don't know what caused the problem or what to inspect (but I'm certainly not going to keep driving the car and risk this happening again).Read more
