I was later notified that the car that I have is notorious for engine failure around 60k. I was told that the suggested repairs would be a new engine priced at 27k. I am under my LR warranty for length of ownership being under for years, however the mileage is over 6,800 miles. So I would not be covered under my power train warranty. This engine failure is definitely not just a one off situation. The dealership has said they don't understand why it is failed and have confirmed that it should not be failing this soon. During an attempt to drive the car and move it to a secure parking spot, the car stalled and large amounts of smoke came out of the exhaust smelling like burning. Car was towed to dealership. Car was unable to be towed onto the tow truck, tow truck driver had to just start the car 3 times and drive it up the tow truck ramp with jumper pack attached to car battery. This situation was unsafe for myself as the driver, surrounding cars/pedestrians, and for the tow truck driver who drove the car in order to tow it. When the dealership was diagnosing the vehicle problem, the replicated the problem. Initially the tech states the car is drivable and all set. When I questioned that a similar issue occurred when the vehicle was brand new and the plug needed to be changed and the whole hybrid system was disabled for 5 months while waiting for the part, the tech/manager continued to assess the car and stated the hybrid battery needs to be changed and the car cannot be driven. It took 4 weeks to receive and replace the part. The car and charging was working perfectly fine until I received the recall on the replaced battery of fire risk and not to drive it charged, park inside or near cars and buildings. This continues to be a threat daily to myself as the driver, cars around me and where I park. Such guidelines cannot be avoided and this car continues to have issues with the hybrid component that are not only unsafe but a complete waste of money for the consumer.Read more

All interior parts have corrosion need a teardown to see how far the water damage is. Ford corporate will not do anything to repair, or replace my vehicle. Stated because I am out of the 3-year lemon law there was nothing they could do. This is not something that happened overnight this is something that has been going on for years and apparently finally separated causing water to intrude into my vehicle every time it rains. The entrance ramp lane ends, and a pickup with a towed trailer happen to be parallel with my FSD Tesla as the lane ended. The Tesla showed no awareness of the impending collision. I braked hard to avoid the collision. 1B) In San Diego, entering a freeway the Tesla got confused while still in the right hand lane, and ultimately threw a critical error - something like 'autonomous steering system failure, take over immediately' with a red full screen alert. 1C) Merging on a freeway connector overpass with multiple lane consolidation, the Tesla failed to understand available openings and became confused causing left and right oscillations in the steering trajectory (at very low speed). 1D) Frequently is not aware of other vehicles as lanes end, causing unnecessary conflicts with other vehicles, and close calls. Tesla should publish a letter grade for the sub-features of full self driving. NHTSA should publish a standard list of sub-features - for example: A) Lane keeping with traffic flow B) Recognizing stopped traffic at highway speeds (i.e. sudden traffic jams) C) Merging cooperation D) Lane ending scenarios E) Maintaining single lanes (i.e. not darting across multiple lanes to achieve an unrealistic left or right turn). The success in many areas of FSD can lead to a sense of competence in the FSD, and to oversights by a human supervisor about what the likely deficiencies are. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed due to coolant intrusion and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that transmission fluid needed to be refilled, and the transmission filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact related the failure to Ford Technical Service Bulletin Number: 22-2229; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under the TSB.
