However there were no signs of dark and contaminated oil when i did the oil change at my shop and also no sounds or warnings coming from the vehicle prior to the motor seizing up. In these instances, the vehicle will have a hard time shifting and temporarily lose momentum causing concerns for me and other drivers on the road. The transmission light will go on and I call KIA to be told to tighten the gas cap. I recently brought it in for the third time and they diagnosed something different. I have mentioned the transmission each time, but they have focused on other items and not the transmission. I have had the shocks replaced, the tires replaced, alignment performed, and the problem still persist. However, the dealership will not look at the transmission and says that it is the other items, but the issue still remains after fixing the other items. The shock failure caused other items to wear out and the dealer should be on the hook for those items. I have brought the vehicle in dating to last year for the transmission issue with no help from the dealership. It also has a "driver assist reduced" message. It appeared randomly while driving and stayed on for multiple days. Vehicle had a code for a bad thermostat/coolant temp sensor and "driver assist reduced" message. The cause is NOT the temp sensor or thermostat and is actually a wiring harness that two wires need to be separated from the bunch. The frequency from one wire interferes with the coolant temp sensor wires. I am on several forums for chevy blazers and there are TONS of posts about this issue with the 3.6 V6. Most people will go in and have these expensice parts replaced. It is not acceptable to have people get charged for a $800+ job when the part is not faulty.Read more

The Safety of Others: While the primary consequence of the FCA failure was the tragic impact with the pedestrian, the malfunction of a safety system designed to prevent or mitigate collisions inherently puts all potential road users at risk. Had the FCA functioned correctly, the collision might have been avoided entirely or the impact speed significantly reduced, potentially altering the outcome for the pedestrian. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No not to my knowledge.
