Engine oil leak. An engine oil leak could potentially cause a fire hazard by igniting when leaking into hot components. It could cause engine damage due to inadequate lubrication leading to overheating and severe engine damage. The leak can contaminate the environment including soil and water, and it can create slippery surfaces which would be a risk to people walking in the area with leaked oil.

I looked it up and found numerous reports in online forums of others having the exact same issue. I was quoted over $5000 to repair and forums also indicate that others have been quoted multiple thousands of dollars to repair as well. I have noticed that the vehicle would always give me a low oil light approximately 3000 miles after an oil change, so I would top it off. It has been doing this since I originally purchased the vehicle with approximately 16000 miles. I took it to a Subaru dealership back then and was told by the service providers that it's normal for engines under 60,000 miles to consume more oil and dismissed it. After researching the issue on the internet days later, I found a Tahoe Owners' forum/thread [XXX] ) where several other 2021 Tahoe owners had experienced the exact same issue as ours had. The culprit appears to be a sub-component of the headlight adjuster mechanism, but GM/Chevrolet does not offer a replacement for either this small white plastic piece that is failing and the only repair option they have for this issue is complete replacement of the entire headlamp assembly ($1,350 MSRP). This is a dangerous problem that occurred randomly on a vehicle with low mileage and appears to potentially be a common failure for other owners of the same headlamp design. I have not taken this vehicle into the dealership for inspection, as I expect they will only replace the entire headlamp assembly for $$$$. My vehicle has had transmission and engine problems that should not have been an issue until after at least 100,000 miles. At 11,577 miles I reported hard down shifting as well as a hard shift / kick when going from reverse to drive when the transmission would feel like it would slip and then kick when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear on automatic transmission. ... they couldn't duplicate problem. At 58517 miles the service 4x4 warning light came on as well as a shifting problem was continuing. A transmission valve body was replaced and a transmission service / fluid replacement was done under warranty or extended warranty. The shifting problem has continued. It has come to my understanding that Chevrolet put out a bulletin about changing the transmission fluid should solve the problem and to tell customers that some hard shift could be normal and not a problem. And I have heard about some class action lawsuits that have been filed. A second and more major issue was the 5.3 liter engine failure that occured at 62,093 miles after having a tapping noise develop and some loss of power. But this issue began earlier at 40,125 miles when I had a fuel injection clean due to it running rough. Extended warranty replaced engine with a used motor and I was still charged $1158.93 for amounts extended warranty didn't cover. My Son's 2015 Silverado 1500 which I owned previously had to have the transmission rebuilt for just under $5,000 just out of extended or manufacturer's warranty. We don't pay $60,000-$70,000 to have engines and transmission fail before 100,000 miles and before the loans on vehicles are paid off. We shouldn't have to be paying a loan on a vehicle we can't even drive because it is in the shop for an extended period of time. At 62,298 miles after getting the truck back from the engine failure, the starter then failed and was replaced under extended warranty with $133.76 cost going to me.Read more

When traveling on [XXX] in New York, at 78 mph, my 2018 Range Rover Evoque experienced an electronic power steering rack failure I had just picked up my neighbors from the airport and were on the way home. We manage to make it back to my driveway. My wife normally drives this vehicle and if it was her driving at the time of the failure in our more rural area, there is no doubt she would not have been able to steer and would have crashed with a high possibility of personal injury. There is no way she would have had the strength to control the vehicle. The possibility of injury or death is high. If that had happened legal action would have been taken. I had the vehicle towed 90 miles to the JLR dealership and they eventually completed the fix by replacing the electronic power steering rack at a cost of over $6k. There was much discussion with the dealership about the failure and the kept saying nothing could be done. I chose to pay for the repair only because I wasn't going to continue making monthly payments for a vehicle i couldn't use, or even move. There is a recall in regards to steering rack bolts. However my vehicles VIN is just shy of meeting the require range. Cost of tow, fix, and travel to pick it up after the repair is close to $7k. The large amount of added debt is a huge inconvenience for a repair that should be covered by a major part that was defective.
