On June 10th 2025 the engine light came on in my 2014 Ford Focus and I lost transmission function. The car was slipping out of gear, completely losing power and speed between first & second gear and third & fourth gear. I pulled into traffic before realizing the issue and almost got hit by two oncoming vehicles - one locked up their brakes to avoid hitting me, the other swerved into another lane w
... hich thankfully was empty. Slowing down was difficult, it was very hard to stop and I lost reverse gear. The overall driving experience was very rough and jerky. Driving 3 miles home I almost got rear ended two times due to loss of power between first & second gear. Driving 6 miles to the Ford dealership I almost got rear ended 1 time & 1 time I could not completely stop until I was halfway into a busy intersection. I had no ability to backup and traffic was completely blocked in one direction until I was able to safely cross the other 3 lanes of the intersection on a red light!! Prior to this incident & since I bought the car with 12,000 miles in 2020, it ALWAYS had rough transitions between gears & sputtering/brief loss of power when accelerating from stopped. I formerly had a 2013 Ford Focus which had these same issues so I figured that’s just how these cars drive with the Powershift dual clutch transmission. I had no idea that I should have been extremely concerned about the hard shifts & sputtering. I never received a single Customer Satisfaction Program letter from Ford about the clutch, leaking seals, or TCM warranty extensions and issues. If I had I would have brought my car in for service a long time ago. I am disappointed & dismayed that a recall has not been forced by the NHTSA. Ford has gotten away with putting unsafe vehicles on the road with little to no accountability. I, and dozens of others, could have been killed or severely injured while I was on the road in this unsafe car.Read more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The issue appears to be related to the powertrain system, specifically the belt tension or transmission shifting components. A “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” warning message appeared through the FordPass app, and I have also been experiencing jerking or hesitation when applying pressure
... to the gas pedal, particularly during gear shifts. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ⸻ How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The unexpected jerking and reduction in power while driving could pose a serious safety risk, especially when merging onto highways or changing lanes, where smooth acceleration is critical. This behavior could result in a loss of control or increase the likelihood of a rear-end collision in traffic. ⸻ Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? An independent mechanic has reviewed the issue and suspects that it may be related to the previously reported belt tension recall, although my specific vehicle VIN was not included in that recall group. The mechanic observed the jerking and powertrain alert and recommended further inspection. ⸻ Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet. I am currently in the process of filing this report and seeking guidance from the manufacturer to determine the next steps for inspection and resolution. ⸻ Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” message appeared via the FordPass app. Prior to the alert, I had noticed intermittent jerking and hesitation during acceleration, which became more noticeable within the last few weeks leading up to the warningRead more

While driving my 2015 Toyota Prius, the brake pedal became extremely stiff and hard to press. I was on the way to the dog park with my dog in the back seat when I had to press down very hard just to slow the car at a traffic light. It felt like I was stepping on a rock. The brakes barely engaged, and I had to use far more force than normal to get the car to stop in time. When I hit the brakes, th
... ey finally caught hard and suddenly and my dog went flying off the back seat and landed on the floor. She’s fine physically, but now she’s terrified of getting in the car at all. It was scary for both of us and felt totally unsafe. If I had been going just a little faster or if someone was walking across that intersection, it could’ve ended badly. I later found out this issue is tied to a known defect with the brake booster and accumulator system, specifically related to code C1391. Toyota even acknowledged this problem in a Customer Support Program (CSP ZJB/ZKK), but they refuse to help because my car is slightly over the mileage limit. That doesn’t change the fact that this is a serious, dangerous failure that affects the driver’s ability to stop safely. Toyota should be forced to take responsibility for this failure before someone gets seriously hurt.Read more

This vehicle was purchased new and I am the sole owner. Immediately upon purchasing the vehicle, I experienced what has been described as 'sticky' steering. I believed at the time it was related to the adaptive cruise control, the lane keeping assistance system, or the road departure mitigation system. However, the sticky steering continued and was always present. In 2024 I took my vehicle to
... an authorized Honda dealer, Planet Honda in Lakewood, Colorado. They could not recreate the problem, but now I realize that this is because they did not get the vehicle and its parts warm enough to cause the problem to reveal itself. Upon becoming aware of two recalls of Honda CR-Vs with similar issues (NHTSA Campaign numbers 24V744000 and 18V663000), I took my vehicle back to Planet Honda last week and more fully described the problem. I was shocked to hear from the service advisor that he was not even aware of these recalls. However, I explained that EVERY SYMPTOM I was experiencing was and always had been exactly as described in the 2024 recall. I requested that they get the vehicle warm and then they would experience the problem. They did in fact confirm the problem, but stated that because the vehicle was not included in the recall they would charge me over $5,000 for repairs, despite the fact that it had been present since the inception of my ownership, and had been reported to them earlier. I do not dispute that my vehicle was not included in the recall, but would submit that given the situation, it SHOULD HAVE BEEN included, and even if not, the evidence is clear (and not disputed) that the problem is and always has been related to this manufacturing. design or assembly defect. I also recognize that my vehicle has over 136,000 miles. However, Honda readily advertise that its vehicle should last hundreds of thousands of miles, and I agree, IF a manufacturers' defect is repaired under warranty or SHOULD BE, as the subject of a recall. On [XXX], I pulled out of a driveway onto a very busy road and upon increasing pressure on the gas, the vehicle shook (similar to the behavior of a manual when letting up off the clutch and not a
... pplying even pressure to the gas. Due to the vehicle's hesitation, I as almost hit by a large truck traveling on my exact path. This was the sole instance that warranted a call to Kia Corporate, as I feel the issue is a significant safety concern. I placed the vehicle in service 11-12 JUN and the attached receipt highlights that the dealer was unable to replicate the issue. As of 16 JUN, the vehicle is still exhibiting the same issue intermittently, along with the break pedal popping when ascending or descending on a hill/ramp. Over the past month, my 2020 Mercedes-Benz C300 has been experiencing unexpected and increasingly concerning issues with the steering. These problems began suddenly and without any prior warning signs. Initially, the steering has been making grinding sounds more usual, particularly at lower speeds and when making tight turns. Over the following weeks, the issue became more pronounced, with occasio
... nal instances of the steering wheel resisting movement or feeling delayed in its response. At times, it feels as if the power steering system is intermittently failing or underperforming. There have been no warning lights on the dashboard, and I have not been involved in any recent accidents or incidents that could have caused physical damage to the steering system. I have maintained the vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines, including regular servicing. but there the person before me had been in a accident and it may have been the dealership i bought it off of failed to fix itRead more

The CVT transmission in my 2018 Nissan Rogue failed catastrophically at 92,000 miles, far below industry standards for drivetrain reliability. This failure, tied to known defects and past class-action litigation, caused severe safety risks and financial hardship. Despite these issues being well-documented and covered in extended warranties for some vehicles, Nissan never informed me of any potenti
... al risk, leaving me unprepared. The failure caused a sudden loss of power, limiting the vehicle to 40mph, creating a dangerous situation, especially on highways where maintaining speed is critical. I had to drive the compromised vehicle to a Nissan dealership for diagnosis, putting myself & other motorists in danger. The issue was confirmed and reproduced during diagnostics, with an estimated repair cost of nearly $10,000. Before this, an independent mechanic had also diagnosed the problem, citing transmission failure with documented codes. However, Nissan refused to accept outside documentation, requiring diagnosis from their service center. No warning lights or dashboard messages appeared before the failure. Symptoms like difficulty accelerating and erratic RPM fluctuations began about a week prior but offered no formal alerts. Nissan’s refusal to provide assistance after the diagnosis cited the vehicle being out of warranty and my failure to use Nissan dealerships for regular service. This ignored challenges such as the rural location of their service centers and COVID-related limitations during my ownership. This failure highlights a broader safety & reliability issue with Nissan’s CVT transmissions, which the company has failed to address adequately through recalls or customer notifications. I urge the NHTSA to investigate these defective transmissions and require Nissan to take necessary actions, including recalls, to protect consumers from safety risks and financial burdens. The faulty transmission remains in my possession and is available for inspection upon requestRead more
