The car keeps loosing power when it is over 90 degrees outside. On my way to work in the morning it has plenty of power but on my way home around 5 or 6 PM it struggles to gain speed. They provided the poor quality front camera and they charging fortune to replace it. That front camera costs more than 10% of my current car value. It does not make sense. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was significantly at risk. I had no control over stopping the vehicle despite repeated brake attempts. To avoid a direct collision, I was forced to swerve at the last second, hitting the rear edge of the truck ahead and deploying my airbag. Had I not swerved, the impact could have been more severe and potentially endangered the other driver. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. My insurance is working to determine whether an inspection is possible due to the extent of the damage. I intend to have the braking system inspected to confirm the failure if it can be safely accessed. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Car received over the air update a week ago. Software version is now 3.6.4. Assumed it was to address NHTSA Recall RP1016 - Rear Backup Camera. Update has not addressed recall issues. Backup image still lags and images flicker at times when car is first put into reverse. Yesterday I put it into reverse and no image appeared at all. Instead got warning message: "Camera temporarily unavailable".
... Have had backup camera fail this way several time over past year. With current update camera actually seems to malfunction more often than it did before the update. This is a serious safety hazard because rear visibility is compromised by car's design. (One factor is large rear seat headrests cannot be removed.) Camera is always needed when backing up.
