... isdiagnosed and the ruling was tank fuel pump had an intermittent short circuit. I’ve driven on the fuel pump I purchased on 2-28-24 for about a year in a half. It only lasted 40,000 miles. Fuel pumps last 100,000 to 200,000 miles. I’ve driven other vehicles going over 100,000 miles on the same fuel pump. How did this fuel pump go out so quick? Was it installed right? Was it bad wiring? Was it a defective part? Thankfully the fuel pump went out when I wasn’t driving. This is a major safety issue and Lithia, who is the parent company of Mission Hills Hyundai, should be looked into. Also the misdiagnosis from the technician should be in question to. Integrity is also an issue here, so how can I feel safe if I want to to continue getting my car serviced here. Yes they gave me a new fuel pump with no charge, but still had to pay for a starter I didn’t need. Basically I spent $3000 for a part that went out on my vehicle in over a year. Just like how Ford has a recent recall of fuel pumps, Hyundai should be checked into this issue also. I will attach invoices including a service for my fuel system cleaning. However, owners with this issue would not know there is an issue if the vehicle is not presenting an error while functioning improperly. In June 2025, while driving my 2023 Kia K5 (VIN: [XXX] ) at highway speeds on [XXX], the fuel tank suddenly imploded. A loud bang caused the rear seats to lift, startling me and my passengers. ... pril 2024 for a fuel tank defect affecting ~236,000 vehicles. I took it to Gunther Kia in Davie, FL for inspection, and they claimed it was fixed. In March 2025, I returned to Hollywood Kia because of popping sounds and a check engine light. They diagnosed and “repaired” a purge control valve but failed to address the underlying defect. Despite these repairs, the catastrophic failure still occurred. The vehicle is now completely inoperable and irreparable. Kia later offered to buy back the vehicle but failed to respond to over 200 calls and dozens of emails from me, allowing their offer to expire without explanation. This left me paying for a vehicle I can no longer use. This defect poses a serious danger not only to me and my passengers but also to thousands of other K5 owners nationwide. I urge NHTSA to investigate Kia’s recall handling and ensure affected vehicles are properly repaired to prevent injury or death. Each time, I was informed that the error was due to a pending software update and that no immediate fix was available. Despite repeated service visits, including 6/30/22, 8/18/22, 11/22/22, 6/13/23, 9/1/23, 10/25/23, 12/14/23, 2/1/24, 10/3/24, and most recently on 5/22/25, the issue has never been resolved. I consistently reported the Uconnect error, and each time, I was reassured that an update would eventually be released. I trusted the expertise of the dealership and continued to follow their guidance, despite the inconvenience and growing frustration. On [XXX], during a routine oil change and inspection, the situation worsened significantly. My entire radio system and associated safety features, including lane change alerts and front braking warnings, ceased functioning. I was referred to another location, where a technician (Mark from Store #45473) informed me that the entire radio system needed replacement. However, I was told that my warranty had expired, by only 77 miles, and that I would need to contact Customer Care to seek authorization for repairs. Since then, I have attempted to reach Customer Care at 800-334-9200 multiple times, but I have been repeatedly transferred and disconnected without resolution. I am deeply concerned that despite reporting this issue consistently since 2022, no action was taken until my warranty expired.
