I was driving down the road going around 40 mph. No vehicles around me at all and no trees overhead when my sunroof suddenly exploded. No impact whatsoever occurred prior to the explosion, I just heard a loud boom, and glass started raining onto my sunroof liner. The contact sustained a small bruise on her chin and a contusion across her chest, but did not seek medical treatment immediately following the accident. Surprisingly enough, the chest contusion had yet to heal 2 weeks after the injury was sustained. This causes SCC to deactivate abruptly, resulting in sudden speed changes that create a safety hazard, particularly at highway speeds (e.g., 65–70 mph). The issue occurs multiple times per drive, especially when wearing sunglasses, and persists even after attempting to disable FAW in the vehicle’s settings (Settings > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Driver Attention Warning > Off). For example, while driving on [XXX], SCC deactivated without warning due to FAW detecting my sunglasses, causing the vehicle to slow unexpectedly and requiring immediate manual intervention to maintain speed. I'm currently dealing with the Honda I purchased from to try to come to a resolution of this issue since I don't want my brand new car to have a bumper repainted and possibly not match and have it show up on a carfax report. Also have what the dealership calls "fisheyes" under the clear coat of the factory paint. Approx 20-25 spots on my entire car. The dealership said they could "buff" the places but shouldnt have left the factory in that condition. The body shop that Honda sent me too said once they started buffing on the "fisheyes" that they couldn't guarantee that the buffing of the spots would correct the issue or if they would need to repaint which I'm not ok with since it is a brand new car and paint might not even match the rest of the car. To date, I, like many Ram owners are still awaiting parts to become available to have them replaced per the recall and am requesting that the NHTSA step in to assist as we all have essentially unsafe trucks on US highways. I believe this should be a priority, given the fact that owners of 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks often own them to tow trailers (like myself) which leads to additional unsafe conditions on the road. It’s unacceptable to allow FCA US LLC to continue to delay addressing this recall.Read more

2018 Jaguar F-pace power steering rack failure: Driving in heavy rain [XXX] on [XXX] entered a flooded roadway. The entire 4 lane roadway was flooded at the underpass. Thousands of cars in all 4 lanes passed through the flooded roadway at 10 MPH. The highway was backed up for miles. ... out the electric steering and power steering failed, and warning came on that said “OK to drive with caution Power steering assistance reduced”, we then pulled off the road to see what had happened. My wife who was driving at the time could barely control the car as we exited the highway. Steering was difficult but I managed to make it home and parked the car. Since then, we brought it to our mechanic and he confirmed that electric power steering rack has failed due to water ingress and he could not do the repair. He provided a picture of the crack in the corroded aluminum casting. The car has not been repair so part is available for inspection at this time. After doing an internet search for similar problems we found that this is a known safety issue on F-Pace and Land Rover Valar since they share the same steering rack. There have been hundreds of these failures in US and Great Briton. There is a facebook page dedicated to this failure with over 1,300 members, all of which have reported this failure. “JLR Power Steering Alliance Group (Jaguar F-Pace & Range Rover Velar)” The car is not safe to drive, I had it towed to dealer. The steering is so heavy it would be very difficult to respond to and emergency with out power steering, which can fail at any moment if it gets wet.
