FAMILY WAS TRAVELING ON GOOD HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND RIGHT FRONT TIRE ON KEYSTONE RV FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER BLEW OUT AND SEVERED THE PROPANE COPPER TUBING THAT SUPPLIES FUEL TO THE COOK STOVE. FORTUNATELY I SAW THE TIRE BLOW AND STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. THE VENTING FUEL FROM THE PROPANE TANKS WAS SPRAYING IN THE WHEEL AREA WHICH COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE AND BURNT UP THE CAMPER AND TOW VEHICLE/OCCUPANTS.

ABOVE THAT IS ONLY WOOD WHICH AFTER THE TARP GETS DAMAGED BY ROAD DEBRIS DAMAGES THE TARP WILL CAUSE THE WOOD TO ROT AND DAMAGE THE CAMPER. I CONTACTED KEYSTONE AND WERE TOLD THAT THIS IS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND OR TIRE MANUFACTURE ISSUE. IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE, IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND GRAVE SAFETY ISSUE. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PARTICIPATE IN REPAIRS. LONG STORY SHORT, IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TIMES AND THEIR ARE STILL PROBLEMS WITH THE FRAME. THE PROBLEM IS THE WELDS KEEP BREAKING ON THE FRAME. ON A SIDE NOTE, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES, THEY KEPT BLOWING. I NOTICE MANY MANY RV MANUFACTURES PUT TIRES ON WITH MINIMAL CLEARANCE FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE TRAILER, AND ALSO PUT AXLES THAT ARE BARELY RATED FOR THE TRAILERS AS WELL. YOU PUT A PILLOW IN THE TRAILER AND YOU ARE OVER YOUR AXLE AND TIRE WEIGHT RATING. I INSTALLED TIRES OF THE NEXT LOAD RATING UP AND HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES ON MY PREVIOUS TRAILER, A NUWA FIFTH WHEEL. THEY KEPT BLOWING AND FINALLY I REPLACED THEM ALL WITH THE NEXT SIZE UP. WE AND OUR DEALER CONTACED KEYSTONE REQUESTING REMEDIES THAT WILL NOT VOID WARRANTIES, KEYSTONE REPEATEDLY STATES OUR UNIT IS WORKING TO MANUFACTURER SPECS, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER AS ACKNOLEDGED THERE PROBLEMS. UPON REQUESTING SPECS FOR OUR UNIT KEYSTONE STATES THEY DO NOT HAVE THEM. THIS IS EXTREMELY HARD TO BELIEVE. OUR 2008 RV HAS BEEN IN SERVICE OVER 60 DAYS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. KEYSTONE SUGGESTED CLOSING REGISTERS TO FORCE MORE HEAT ELSEWHERE, THE SUBURBAN WEBSITE DOCUMENTATION CLEARLY STATES THAT THIS MAY DAMAGE THE FURNACE. SUGGESTION TWO OF KEYSTONE: TURN ON THE HEATER AND LET IT RUN, THEN DO TEMPERATURE READINGS IN EACH ROOM. CRESTVIEW DID THIS ON 1/27/09, OURSIDE TEMPS 29 TO 31 DEGREES. FINDINGS SUPPORT OUR CLAIMS, ROOM TEMPERATURES CONTAINING REGISTERS: FRONT BEDROOM 57 DEG, FRONT BATH 54 DEG, LIVING ROOM 69 DEG, REAR BATH 91 DEG. THERMOSTAT SET AT 70 DEGREES, THE HEATER DID NOT SHUT OFF ALL NIGHT.TTHE SEALED COMBUSTION CHAMBER IS NOT GOING TO TOLERATE THESE CONTINUTED EXTREMES AND WILL CRACK. SUGGESTION TWO OF KEYSTONE: TURN ON THE HEATER AND LET IT RUN, THEN DO TEMPERATURE READINGS IN EACH ROOM. CRESTVIEW DID THIS ON 1/27/09, OURSIDE TEMPS 29 TO 31 DEGREES. FINDINGS SUPPORT OUR CLAIMS, ROOM TEMPERATURES CONTAINING REGISTERS: FRONT BEDROOM 57 DEG, FRONT BATH 54 DEG, LIVING ROOM 69 DEG, REAR BATH 91 DEG. THERMOSTAT SET AT 70 DEGREES, THE HEATER DID NOT SHUT OFF ALL NIGHT.TTHE SEALED COMBUSTION CHAMBER IS NOT GOING TO TOLERATE THESE CONTINUTED EXTREMES AND WILL CRACK. IN THE SPRING OF 2001 WE PURCHASED A KEYSTONE 25' COLUMBIA TRAVEL TRAILER. ON OUR FIRST OUTING WE COULD NOT GET THE SLIDE OUT TO RETRACT. A FRIEND HELPED ME PUSH ON THE UNIT WHILE MY WIFE OPERATED THE CONTROL SWITCH INSIDE THE TRAILER. WE TOOK THE TRAILER TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES IN TWO MONTHS DO DEAL WITH SLIDE ADJUSTMENT. ON THE THIRD TRY OF ADJUSTMENT IT DID NOT WORK QUITE SATISFACTORILY BUT

THE OWNER SHOWED ME THAT THE FRAME IS BUCKLED AND CRACKED WHERE THE FRONT SLIDE COMES THROUGH THE FRAME. THE CENTER SPRING SHACKLE IS WELDING DIRECTLY BENEATH THE FRAME SLIDE TOO. I NOW CAN SEE WHY THE FRAME HAS FAILED IN THIS LOCATION. WITH THE SLIDE COMING THROUGH THE FRAME ALL OF THE INTEGRITY OF THE FRAME HAS BEEN COMPRISED. THERE IS NO STRUCTURAL SUPPORT REINFORCING THIS PARTICULAR AREA. THE REPAIRMAN SUGGESTED THAT WE PARK THE TRAILER AND NOT TOW IT DUE TO THE DANGER OF A COMPLETE FRAME FAILURE. WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE IN ARIZONA, THE LEFT REAR LEAF SPRING "SNAPPED" IN HALF. THE SPRING BROKE ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM THE BOLT EYE. THE TRAILER HAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES. LEAF SPRINGS DO NOT BREAK.
