I purchased a 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV in late 2023, already equipped with GM's recall diagnostic software (part of NHTSA Recall 21V650), which monitored battery health and limited charging to 80%. After the monitoring period, the software detected critical voltage variation failures across all 5 battery cell module rows. The dealer (Lee Johnson KIA, Kirkland WA) opened a TAC case (#9-14753041951),
... GM authorized a full high voltage battery replacement, and the work was completed on May 27, 2025 at no charge (Job Card 603815). Despite the replacement being triggered entirely by recall-installed software and authorized through GM's own TAC process, GM classified the repair as a standard warranty repair rather than a recall repair — denying me the fresh 8-year/100,000-mile parts warranty that applies to recall battery replacements.Read more

I bought a new Subaru Impreza and there is a cam carrier leak that was reported last time I took it for service at the dealership two weeks ago. There are only 41k miles on the car, and there were no warning lights/messages. Upon my research, this is a common problem with Subarus due to the sealant that they use with a very high cost to fix (I was quoted $4.5k), not mentioning the time it takes as
... well. Additionally, fixing the problem does not prevent it from recurrence. Because this puts the safety of the driver at risk and is a known problem in newer Subaru vehicles, it should be covered under the warranty.Read more

I am submitting a safety defect complaint regarding my 2020 Voltage toy hauler. The driver-side exterior wall panels are separating across large areas due to apparent adhesive failure. The RV has been stored indoors and shows no signs of water intrusion, damage, or neglect. This indicates the failure is not due to environmental exposure or owner misuse. The separation appears to be progressive and
... is affecting the structural bonding of the exterior panels. This creates a safety concern that portions of the paneling could detach while the vehicle is in motion, potentially creating road debris and posing a hazard to other motorists. The unit has a black exterior finish. Based on owner reports and industry discussions, darker exterior finishes are known to increase heat absorption, which may contribute to adhesive breakdown. This suggests a possible design or manufacturing defect that could affect multiple units. The manufacturer has declined to provide repair assistance due to the unit being out of warranty. However, the nature of this failure indicates a latent defect rather than normal wear and tear. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed as a potential safety-related defect involving exterior panel adhesion and structural integrity.Read more

Subject: Catastrophic Suspension Failure Resulting in Total Loss of Trailer Braking Vehicle: 2017 Keystone Montana On January 5, 2026, while traveling at highway speeds, the rear driver and passenger-side leaf springs suffered a catastrophic "brittle fracture" failure. This resulted in the axle shifting 6+ inches, wedging into the chassis I-beam. The violence of the axle displacement severed the
... electrical brake wiring harnesses, causing a 100% loss of trailer braking. We were forced to perform an emergency stop of a 13,000lb+ load using only the tow vehicle’s brakes. Defect History & Pattern: This is the third suspension failure on this chassis. Previous repairs (documented) revealed factory-installed oversized hardware (screws) obstructing suspension travel. The failure mode matches the metallurgical defects described in NHTSA Recall 23V-822 (Hydrogen Embrittlement) and Safety Advisories 24-453 and 22-420. Safety Risk: The failure of the primary structural suspension led directly to the failure of the primary safety system (brakes). This defect renders the vehicle unroadworthy and constitutes an extreme risk of a "runaway trailer" event, multi-vehicle collision, and potential loss of life. The manufacturer (Keystone) has been on notice of these defects for 9 years but has failed to provide a permanent remedy, dismissing structural collapses as "normal wear and tear." There was absolutely no warning given prior to the incident taking place. When we first took the exit ramp for the I25 we heard a loud pop, then in our sideview mirrors began to see smoke coming from the side of the RV. Unable to immediately stop due to being on the top of the exit ramp with absolutely no extra space for other vehicles to safely get by, we continued down the ramp with just the use of our truck breaks until we reached a safe stopping point at the bottom of the ramp. I had repairs done to my Jeep in April 2024. At that time, I was made aware that my ABS control module was faulty and no longer functioning. I have been periodically checking with my mechanic and online to check the status of this part, only to find that it has been an ongoing issue with some models having this part unavailable since 2019. At the end of October 2025, I began having a major safety
... issue in which my Jeep's engine will shut off without warning and the only reason I will be aware is because the wheel will no longer turn easily (trying to turn without power steering). In addition, there will at times be a fluctuation of power either having a an extreme spike or drop in RPMs causing the Jeep to lurch while driving. The cruise control cannot be used with this issue, and I have also experienced malfunctions in the traction control (i.e. hydroplaning in a very small puddle in the road that a normal car could handle, let alone a Jeep). I have been waiting patiently for a year and a half and there are no updates available for Jeep owners, and the issues caused by this lack of parts could cause fatalities on the road or leave individuals with a very expensive, undrivable vehicle followed by the additional cost of purchasing a new vehicle. This is unacceptable for an extremely large and popular vehicle manufacturer to be unable to come to an agreement with parts manufacturers to resume production of a crucial vehicle part.Read more

Sound was so loud that my hearing was impacted and there is now ringing in both ears. If children were present, it would have been devastating. I was stuck in the middle of the road while traffic routed around my

The wheel hub bolt stud and nut freeze/lock up. They break apart when the technician attempts to remove to perform tire rotation. It is a common problem with the Subaru Forester. I have had to replace 2, so far. Dealer charges $200+ for replacing it. Subaru has not stepped up to take responsibility for the defect.

On the highway my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel briefly stalled and the check engine light came on. I then lost all power and could only maintain a speed of 45MPH in a 70MPH speed limit highway. I turned on my flashers and could not get off the road due to construction and Jersey barriers for several miles. When I had the opportunity I pulled off the side of the road and called to have my vehi
... cle towed to a service facility. I was informed by the mechanic that scanned my car for trouble codes, a P0336-00 was set in my PCM. The mechanic informed me that I would have to take the vehicle to a Jeep Chrysler dealer. This is apparently a known issue with 2014 to 2018 Jeep Grad Cherokees equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine including RAM 1500s of the same vintage with the same diesel engine installed. The specific problem is that the crank shaft tone wheel is not read by the crankshaft position sensor because of degradation to the tone wheel which is connected to the crankshaft. I have complied with all safety and emission recalls. Related: RC-RW68-20 Safety Recall W68 Transport Canada 2020-371 Loss of Crankshaft Position. Requires the replacement of the Tone wheel. Issued 02/11/2021. RC-RW58-20 Safety Recall W68 Transport Canada 2020-371 Loss of Crankshaft Position. Requires PCM Software update for Loss of Crankshaft Position. In lieu of the Tone Wheel failing, the computer uses the Camshaft Position sensor. This is only designed to not disable the car completely but allow the driver to pull of the road. P0335-00 or P0336-00 wil be set and a check engine light will illuminate. My vehicle was not included in the NTHSA Safety Recall and it should have been.Read more
