Hooked camper up to our tow vehicle. Went inside to prepare to leave our storage. Husband turned the propane on and I pressed Further start button on the refrigerator once the pilot light ignited. After less than one minute an error message began beeping on the digital LCD pad to alert that there was a disconnect from the power source being used. Five seconds later it stopped, and the LCD went bla
... nk. I shouted to my husband to check the propane because the refrigerator had stopped and he confirmed that it was still running. I hit the start button again several times and nothing occurred. As I turned to go out the door I noticed a faint, small plume of smoke. My husband rushed in and did confirm a slight ozone smell before turning back outside to note smoke from the top vent where the refrigerator lies. He immediately shut the propane off and returned to remove the upper vent while I grabbed the fire extinguisher. As I returned, I immediately noticed flames and smoke from the lower vent. My husband quickly removed that vent cover and extinguish the fire with the extinguisher. Once out, he returned inside to turn off the circuit breakers, followed by unplugging the refrigerator cord from the wall, which is accessible through the lower vent. We thoroughly inspected the entire slide to be assured the fire was completely extinguished. I made a claim to Progressive the next day. We arranged to have a progressive inspector look at the camper at our local RV service center Harler Auto and Glen’s RV service in Romeo Michigan. The assigned inspector, Andy M made his assessment on Friday, XXX and called us the same afternoon to inform us that based on his inspection, it was determined that the damages were due to and confined to a mechanical/electrical failure, and not the result of a sudden, direct, and accidental loss. He was confident that this was due to a manufacturing defect and informed me that there were multiple known recalls on this particular product.Read more

We experienced three consecutive tire blowouts on our 2021 Keystone Hideout 198RB. All blowouts were on the same side (passenger side). Since we purchased the trailer new we noticed unusual tire wear patterns on the passenger side resulting in a cone like wear. The outside of the tire wears faster than the other. We reported this to the dealer and the axle was replaced. However, despite the replac
... ement, the problem continued. The first blowout occurred in 2024, driving on [XXX] heading west towards Barstow. The blowout endangered us as well as others on the road with tire debris flying into traffic. With the blowout there was little time to get to a safe location. We were left on the side of [XXX] and needed California Highway patrol to help us get to safety off the freeway. The second blowout occurred on [XXX], a two lane highway with a speed limit of 55 mph. The blowout here not only launched debris into the air endangering vehicles behind us but also vehicles traveling the opposite direction as vehicles behind us swerved to avoid the tire debris. Following the second blowout, I contacted the dealer again concerned about the repeated blowouts on the same side with the unusual wear pattern. They took measurements and informed me everything is within normal limits. Less than four months later, I had another blowout on a brand new tire on the same side. Even brand new tires are not able to withstand the structural defect causing the unusual wear on the tire. We have had no blowouts on the drive side of the vehicle. We frequently monitor our tire pressure to keep it at the 75 PSI as directed, before traveling on each trip. We always travel light and each time of the blow out, our travel trailer was lightly packed not even carrying any liquids in our holding tanks. The blowouts occurred at speeds between 50 and 60 mph. Despite efforts to correct this saftey issue with the dealer, I'm worried this could cause an accident if not corrected. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FORead more

I was denied work on a network issue recall 3 separate times at the dealership I bought the car. The first time I was told it was because of a smell. If I clean the car, they will fix it. I noticed after they were in the car my backup camera didn’t work which I also thought might be a recall but found out it wasnt. I went ahead and cleaned it twice. I came back they alleged it smelled like cat l
... itter and urine. I asked to speak to someone else because there was nothing in my car and I know it didn’t. There were also no stains, mold, anything like that. It smelled of cleaning products. But I took it home and scrubbed extensively even though I was confused by the comment. When I went there it was smelling like lemon. Zero stains, mold, nothing in the car but maybe a little sand and baking soda. The person went as far as to say wow the car is improved said but thry still sorta smell it and there’s stuff on the window (there wasn’t). At that point I knew I was being picked on because either they didn’t know how to fix it or didn’t want to work with me. It felt discriminatory and differential to others. I now have a super clean car but a network issue and no backup camera because of this. They claim now they fixed everything but a non-safety issue but I also still have two errors that say “telematics” and “networking issue have vehicle inspected.” I believe I have rights under NC lemon law as this is within 24 months of purchase with only 4600 milesRead more

Upon arriving the service provider tried to open but couldn’t do so. All this time my wife is sitting there with no way out other than trying to literally drag her over the center console which would cause her great pain. The service provider asked us to wait until a mechanic got off lunch and hoped that he could help otherwise she said 911 would have to be called. When mechanic arrived he couldn’t open and said that he also couldn’t open door panel because door has to be open to do so. The interior door handle was frozen so he decided to pull with great force and a horrible breaking noise was made and the door finally opened. The estimate to repair was $2320.00. With great effort from my service provider and an assist from the dealership itself BMW agreed to pay most of bill and only charged for parts $94.33 which I paid. Today, my turbocharger was diagnosed as damaged and leaking coolant into the cylinders and visibly leaking throughout the undercarriage. Additionally, my cylinder 4 is misfiring. My mechanic said they've seen this problem many times and while the turbocharger can be replaced, it often fails or other parts of the engine are damaged beyond repair. I had sluggish performance, mainly with acceleration
... over the last month, but saw smoke late last week that I thought was just exhaust from a truck idling next to me while stopped, but then I saw it at home later that week when the check engine light turned on. At the same time, my idling was excessively rough and felt dangerous to drive, as was later confirmed by my mechanic. I have not taken this into a Ford dealership, nor do I want to because they have refused to help others in the same situation. I am considering contacting my insurance to figure out if they will do an evaluation that is less biased than Ford. I definitely think this is a fire risk as it has happened for many other owners of the same model and year range.Read more

Following a coolant rapid mate replacement performed by an authorized Tesla service center, the vehicle experienced a complete shutdown on a public road the same evening it was returned. The high-voltage cooling system was not properly purged of air following the service. This caused low coolant flow to the rear drive unit during a 63-mile drive in record heat. The fault cascade included a HIGH VO
... LTAGE ISOLATION FAULT (BMS_f123), drive inverter warning (DI_w126), and multiple battery management warnings. The instrument cluster displayed a red emergency warning: "Vehicle shutting down — PULL OVER SAFELY." The vehicle required towing. The failure was confirmed by the service center's own follow-up invoice, which documented "trapped air pockets in the coolant system following the most recent service" as the cause. The corrective repair was performed at $0 as a Goodwill service — the service center's internal acknowledgment of liability. The service advisor made a written text admission of causation the following day, then retracted it in a recorded phone call. Both are preserved. No post-repair Isolation Resistance test results were provided. The HV isolation fault may indicate latent thermal damage to HV insulation that could cause a safety failure at higher mileage outside any remaining warranty. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.Read more

2021 BMW X5 xDrive45e PHEV, built October 2020 by BMW AG (Germany). In-service Oct 28, 2021. Vehicle intermittently shows "Drivetrain Malfunction — you can continue driving" warning. DME scan reveals 5 fault codes, all for the conventional 12V pinion starter: 21A50A — Pinion starter: timeout occurred several times in succession 21A511 — Pinion starter: timeout 21611A — Pinion starter:
... starting torque could not be built up; high counter torque and/or undervoltage 216119 — Pinion starter: line break in starter control (KL50/KL30) 216115 — Pinion starter: attempt to start with blocked starter detected 21A50A and 216115 are protected memory codes that cannot be cleared by standard OBD-II tools. The main 12V AGM battery was replaced and registered; codes continue to recur. This signature matches the B58 pinion starter defect addressed in NHTSA Recall 24V-576 (Aug 2024) and 25V644 (Nov 2025, physical starter replacement). The vehicle's German manufacture date falls inside the production windows of KBA recalls 15630R, 15632R, and 15633R — all covering X5 G05 for short-circuit and fire risk from starter relay corrosion or inadequate mounting. BMW AG has issued an ADAC advisory not to leave affected vehicles running unattended after starting. BMW NA Customer Relations was contacted. Initial verbal response: U.S. recalls don't apply because the xDrive45e PHEV uses a different starter than non-hybrid B58 vehicles. However, codes 216115 and 216119 only exist on vehicles equipped with a conventional pinion starter — confirming this vehicle has the same component. The subsequent written denial pivoted to warranty expiration without addressing the technical or recall-scope questions. Filing so the field record reflects this defect signature for future U.S. recall scope expansion analysis.Read more

On 12/13/25 around 8:00am in the morning. I was driving between 20-25 MPH and started to brake for the corner stop sign. I applied the break as I normally would however, the car continued to roll and did not respond to my applying pressure to the brake pedal. No matter how much pressure I apply to the brake the car continued to coast without stopping. I continued to press hard on the break and eve

There are no lights indicating problems on my dashboard. The weather was clear and sunny in the morning. There was no rain. There was no snow. All the roads were dry. I took the car to my dealership and they could not find anything wrong. The brake pads were well within the normal safety range at 8 mm. There was no computer system malfunction. They could not give me an explanation. The Audi dealership’s head mechanic said that because my front brake pads and rotor, and my back brake pads were replaced at Pep Boys two years ago that this could be a reason for the brake failure. although he was not 100% sure of this. He suggested that I pay $3500 for Audi to replace the current rotors and brake pads despite the original determination that there were nothing wrong with them. The auto mechanic test drove the car with me after the diagnostic evaluation. He could not detect any problems with the brakes no screeching sounds no noises. The anti brake system was working well. to this day, I still do not feel safe driving this car for fear that the incident with the brake failure will happen again.Read more

I had repairs done to my Jeep in April 2024. At that time, I was made aware that my ABS control module was faulty and no longer functioning. I have been periodically checking with my mechanic and online to check the status of this part, only to find that it has been an ongoing issue with some models having this part unavailable since 2019. At the end of October 2025, I began having a major safety
... issue in which my Jeep's engine will shut off without warning and the only reason I will be aware is because the wheel will no longer turn easily (trying to turn without power steering). In addition, there will at times be a fluctuation of power either having a an extreme spike or drop in RPMs causing the Jeep to lurch while driving. The cruise control cannot be used with this issue, and I have also experienced malfunctions in the traction control (i.e. hydroplaning in a very small puddle in the road that a normal car could handle, let alone a Jeep). I have been waiting patiently for a year and a half and there are no updates available for Jeep owners, and the issues caused by this lack of parts could cause fatalities on the road or leave individuals with a very expensive, undrivable vehicle followed by the additional cost of purchasing a new vehicle. This is unacceptable for an extremely large and popular vehicle manufacturer to be unable to come to an agreement with parts manufacturers to resume production of a crucial vehicle part.Read more

We were heading back to Ohio at Mile marker 8 75N Kentucky when we heard a boom. Then we saw smoke as my husband was pulling over. We jump out to get our child out of the car seat and at the same time a pickup truck pulls up with two guys. They yell that our cars on fire and began putting the fire out with a fire extinguisher. We had an oil change before we left Ohio by Valvoline. This area of the

At highway speed the car erratically shifted and lost power most likely due to cdf drum failure in the transmission. It happens randomly due to a known transmission issue. Can you imagine loosing power at hwy speed with a vehicle full of children?

When traveling on the highway, the vehicle would not shift into a higher gear limiting the control of the vehicle to accelerate to the flow of traffic. The transmission would not shift for approximately 1/4 of a mile and was stuck at a max speed of ~35 mph and it would not accelerate. This loss of control almost caused an accident and put my family and self at extreme risk. Eventually the vehicle
... did finally shift gears allowing us to accelerate with the flow of traffic (60mph) This issue with a delay in shifting gears has intermittently happened on prior occasion when accelerating from a full stop, however, this was the first time it happened at an accelerated speed. The vehicle is not safe to operate and was towed to a service center; however, the issue is intermittent and not easily reproducible -- making it even more dangerous as you do not know when it will happen next.Read more

I am submitting this complaint based on recurring drivetrain and structural failures in my 2020 BMW X7 (VIN: [XXX] ), which raise serious concerns about reliability and safety. Most recently, the vehicle exhibited shuddering, power loss, and a “neutral-like” disengagement at low speeds. BMW of Pembroke Pines confirmed this through a test drive. However, instead of mechanical replacement, the
... dealer performed a VTG oil flush and attempted a calibration, which—according to their own documentation—“lost connection.” These signs point to recurring issues with the ATC (transfer case), a known point of failure in several BMW X models. Additional manufacturer defects I’ve experienced include: - Two incidents of cabin water intrusion from separate leaks - A dashboard panel burst shortly after purchase - Rear seat failure requiring a $7,000+ repair BMW North America refuses to provide further assistance despite acknowledging the repair history. This leaves me with a potentially unsafe vehicle, prone to recurring drivetrain failure without a clearly defined remedy. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether the Active Transfer Case and related VTG components in the BMW X7 pose a defect trend requiring formal attention. I recently purchased this car from a private seller. Within weeks, the vehicle began exhibiting serious transmission issues — including sudden loss of power, inability to shift correctly, and entering “limp mode”, which severely restricts speed and performance. I had the codes scanned and received P090C and P090C-00, which point to a transmission control module (TCM) or clutch actuator circ
... uit failure — an issue widely known in these vehicles with the DPS6 PowerShift transmission. Ford previously issued a Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP 14M01) for this exact TCM failure, but they have since ended the program (as of June 30, 2025), and they are refusing to cover the repair — even though my vehicle is within the affected model year range and has not yet had the TCM replaced. The car has already had the clutch replaced, but the shifting problems and check engine light returned, putting me at risk while driving. This is a known, recurring safety issue, and the manufacturer is not standing behind its repair despite the car being part of a program that previously acknowledged this defect. I’m filing this complaint to urge the NHTSA to reopen its investigation or require Ford to reinstate support for affected ownersRead more
