My concern is the holding tank fell down . It’s brand new never water in it . And I was 500 miles from home when I noticed it . This could have caused a wreck for me or others had it fallen all the way out . At highway speeds. The dealer told me they the manufacturer told them to strap it in . I think this repair may work but I feel I need to get a second opinion. The framework and the trailer f

Most people would not look like I did . And if the tank is full of water and you hit a bump it would fall out without further bracing. There seems to be a firewall between me and the manufacturer to get answers , hopefully no body gets hurt . I am filing a safety complaint regarding a Chicco NextFit car seat. The anchor tab on my child’s car seat has become visibly stressed and appears to be failing after only two years of normal use. This is extremely concerning as this component is critical to properly securing the seat and ensuring my child’s safety in the event of a crash. I contacted the manufacturer and provided photos. They
... confirmed that the tab is stressed but did not offer an explanation for how this could happen or provide any investigation or corrective action. The product is discontinued, and I was told I am outside of the warranty period, which does not address the safety concern. This appears to be a potential structural or material failure and could put children at risk if the seat does not perform as intended during a collision. I believe this issue should be investigated to determine whether this is an isolated defect or a broader safety problem affecting other consumers. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed for possible defect or recall to protect child passenger safety.Read more

Bought car, got 4WD not available light on dash, got car "scanned" at multiple outlets and there is no "code". Took to local mechanic and he diagnosed it is the PTU (power transfer unit) and told me there was a factory recall. Contacted Jeep dealership, told them of the problem, they said my vehicle is not included in the warranty but they would diagnose for me. They did and told me it will be $3,
... 000 to fix, but that is "if" they can get the part. Told me they located the part at 2 other dealerships, but those locations won't sell the part to them. They said they are trying to get the part, but it is on back order. When I called to check they said they still haven't been able to get the part, but won't give me any concrete information about when they can fix it.Read more

Component/System Failed: Engine – connecting rod bearing failure consistent with Hyundai Theta II engine defect subject to federal recalls and Consent Orders. The vehicle previously received Recall Campaign 953 (KSDS software update), intended to detect premature rod bearing wear. The engine is currently knocking and has been diagnosed as requiring replacement. The vehicle and engine are availab
... le for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: Rod bearing failure can cause sudden engine seizure or stall while driving, creating a significant crash risk due to loss of power steering and braking assist. Engine failure DID occurr despite prior recall software update, indicating potential recall remedy ineffectiveness. Sudden stalling in traffic placed myself and others at risk of collision. Dealer Confirmation: Hyundai of North Charleston confirmed through warranty history a prior engine replacement request (PA) was submitted by a previous owner but denied. The recall repair was never performed. Current diagnostic findings indicate engine failure consistent with known recall defect. However, Hyundai has refused to perform further inspection or goodwill repair solely due to the vehicle’s salvage branding. Inspection History: The vehicle has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership. No engine replacement was completed. Hyundai Customer Care has updated case notes but is declining remedy based on title status rather than mechanical condition. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: The vehicle previously received KSDS software update. Engine knocking developed consistent with rod bearing wear. The software did not provide effective prevention of engine failure. The engine now requires replacement. Hyundai is refusing recall-related remedy due to salvage title (predates my wonder ship by many years), despite federal recall obligations applying to the vehicle VIN. This complaint concerns potential failure of recall remedy effectiveness and denial of defect-related inspection.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a structural failure of the rear liftgate hinges on my 2020 Toyota RAV4 XLE. The liftgate began opening and closing crooked, and I noticed the door was no longer aligned evenly. After inspection by Toyota dealership, I was informed that the metal hinges attached to the liftgate and body are cracked and must be replaced. This failure is not the result of an
... accident, misuse, or impact. I have never been in a collision involving the rear of the vehicle. I was told this damage is considered “wear and tear,” so my insurance company declined coverage. The Toyota dealership also declined to cover the repair, stating it is not covered under warranty so I will have to pay out of pocket. However, after researching this issue, I found that many other Toyota RAV4 owners have reported the same hinge cracking and liftgate misalignment problem. This appears to be a widespread manufacturing or design defect rather than normal wear. This is a serious safety concern. If the hinges continue to crack, the liftgate could fail completely and fall, potentially causing injury. The misalignment also prevents the liftgate from opening and closing properly, which affects vehicle safety and usability. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and consider whether a safety recall or technical service bulletin is necessary to protect drivers and passengers. Thank you for your time and consideration.Read more

This 2024 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty has experienced a continuous pattern of major mechanical and electrical failures since early ownership. The dealership has diagnosed a power distribution / fuse block failure at approximately 79,000 miles. These electrical failures affect multiple vehicle systems and raise concerns regarding reliability and potential safety risks due to loss of communication between control modules and possible braking system interaction. I am an automotive engineer. I have been involved with vehicle development programs in the disabled vehicle conversion community for over two decades and have numerous patents in that space. I have been involved with vehicle testing and calibration as well. My vehicle demonstrates a SIGNIFICANT HESITATION when the accelerator is pressed that is not consistent. I live in a roundabout dense l
... ocation where timing an entry into a roundabout is easy using a normal vehicle. The 1 to 2 second hesitation where there is throttle input and no action at all from the vehicle (engine does not rev, no motive power observed) is very dangerous. I took this up with Toyota and my vehicle was checked out and "learning transmission" memory was wiped clean with me being the only driver was the remedy. The issue got better for a short time but is back and this morning I pulled out thinking there was plenty of time in front of a bus a good distance away and the lack of motive power for a full second or two resulted in a near miss. This vehicle has about 20,000 miles and was purchased by me new. There are NO WARNING LAMPS, and no DTCs thrown when this happens. I have seen several videos where people cite the same experience and a website where there is a class action lawsuit in place regarding this issue. This is completely separate from the engine recall issue. I feel as though this issue is a significant safety risk.Read more

SUBJECT: Engine → Stall → Loss of power while driving: While driving normally, the vehicle began losing power and could not accelerate properly. The engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle repeatedly entered a reduced-power condition where it could barely maintain speed. The vehicle would stall while driving and then restart after sitting. This occurred multiple times over a period o

A dealership later stated internal engine damage was present, including a failed valve and spark plug damage. The vehicle is currently at a dealership and available for inspection. The loss of power and stalling created a safety hazard because the vehicle could not maintain normal traffic speed and could have been struck by other vehicles. The problem was confirmed by a dealership service department. Warning lights were present prior to final failure and appeared during the loss of power events.Read more
