What happened : The vehicle experienced a sudden electrical failure and loss of normal shutdown control. The vehicle would not start or turn over. After repeated attempts, it eventually started, at which point all dashboard lights began flashing uncontrollably. The engine continued running even after the ignition was turned off and the key was removed. The only way to shut the vehicle down was to
... disconnect the battery. This created a safety concern due to the inability to control the vehicle’s electrical systems or safely shut off the engine. The failure occurred without prior warning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership for inspection. Diagnostics confirmed a failure of the Body Control Module (BCM). The Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) was also found to be non-functional and may have been affected by the BCM failure. The vehicle remains inoperable and is awaiting replacement of the BCM, which is currently on backorder with no estimated availability. The failed components are available for inspection upon request. The issue has been confirmed by the dealership. No crash occurred, but the malfunction posed a potential safety risk due to uncontrolled electrical behavior and inability to shut down the vehicle normally.Read more

In November 2024, Jeep applied an over-the-air software update to my Jeep Grand Cherokee L without my request. Immediately after the update, the forward collision warning system malfunctioned and warning indicators appeared. At the same time, multiple electronic body control and safety-related functions changed or stopped working, including the automatic door locks and several vehicle settings res
... etting (language, units, and driver-assist preferences). The affected systems are electronic safety and body control components and are available for inspection. The malfunction of the forward collision warning system puts vehicle occupants and others at risk because the vehicle may fail to provide collision alerts intended to help prevent or reduce the severity of a crash. There was no crash, damage, or hardware failure before or after the update. The vehicle operated normally prior to the software update. These problems have continued without interruption for more than 13 months and have not corrected themselves. The issue has not been confirmed by a dealer because Jeep Customer Care has required a paid dealership diagnosis before escalating or correcting a problem caused by its own software update. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or any third party. Warning lights and messages related to the forward collision warning system first appeared immediately following the November 2024 update. Jeep/Stellantis has acknowledged similar over-the-air software-related issues in internal technical documentation (STAR Publication Case Number S2108000249, Revision C). This is a safety-related software defect affecting forward collision warning and driver-assist systems.Read more

I had my brakes flushed by my local dealer in June 2025 at about 31,000 miles for routine maintenance. I was traveling to York, Pa from Gravette, AR in September of 2025. All systems on my Cherokee had worked flawlessly on the trip, as they had since its purchase new in the Fall of 2023. On a very curvy, hilly road in the Cactocin mountain area, I was braking often. The ABS system warning light
... came on, as well as messages that the automatic collision control, lane departure control and adaptive cruise control were disabled. I noticed immediately that my brake pedal felt mushy and went nearly to the floor. Basically it felt like an old car with no power brakes. I proceeded to Gettysburg. When I restarted the car the error messages had cleared. I continued but after a few stops all of the error messages returned. When I got to York, still Thursday, I went to Stetler Jeep dealership and asked to have my Jeep looked at. The service clerk said no because I had no appointment. I asked to at least do an Obd2 scan so I know what the problem is. He said no, it can’t be done without an appointment. was told not until next Wednesday. I only planned to be in York until that Sunday. Between York and Decatur, IN on way home to Arkansas the warnings reoccured 3 more times, a total of 5. When stopped with my foot on the brake, when no errors showing, I would sometimes hear a clicking noise behind the steering wheel and feel it on my foot. A dealer in Indiana and my local dealer in Fayetteville, Arkansas could not find anything wrong. Those error messages have not appeared again without any repair. In December, my brakes were dragging and the brake waning light came on several times, then remained on. I could release the brakes by pumping them. My local dealer flushed brake system as the repair and warning light was gone. Two days later, brake system warning light is on again. I am taking it back to the dealer again even though brakes seem to be working fine.Read more

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, while driving approximately 70 mph on US-30 in Indiana, my vehicle suddenly displayed a warning indicating speed would be limited and that I needed to place the vehicle in Park and restart it. At the time, I was traveling in the left lane with semi-trucks beside and behind me. The abrupt loss of speed and ability to accelerate created an immediately dangerous situat
... ion. Luckily, I was able to maneuver across traffic to the right shoulder. After placing the vehicle in Park and attempting a restart, the vehicle did not recover as expected and could not be shifted out of Park. I was stranded on the shoulder of a high-speed highway with heavy truck traffic. I have an open case with Jeep Customer Care and have made numerous calls. I have been routed between Customer Care, the Recall team, and Roadside Assistance. The vehicle currently has multiple open recalls, including those for potential power loss due to software defects, engine contamination with debris that can cause failure, fire risk, or loss of drive power, and fire risks from the hybrid battery system. No representative can confirm whether these recalls are related to my failure, despite the symptoms (sudden speed limitation, failure to restart, and inability to shift out of Park) closely matching descriptions in the power loss and engine failure recalls. On December 18th I was promised a case manager callback within one business day. That did not occur. I called again 12/22 and was routed to Roadside Assistance again, which cannot help me, and then to Recall and I just received a supervisor callback from the Recall department, and he provided no additional resolution. I have repeatedly requested escalation in all of my calls and have been continuously told there is no escalation. Not only is this a serious safety risk, but a complete failure by Stellantis/Chrysler/Jeep to provide any resolutions to a very serious problem.Read more

The high-voltage battery system on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe malfunctioned and is subject to Recall 25V-741 (68C). The vehicle has been under safety recall for battery fire risk for months, with instructions to park outside and avoid charging due to fire hazard. On December 29, the recall remedy failed and the vehicle was rendered completely undrivable (“bricked”) at the dealership. I was informed

The vehicle cannot be moved or driven and remains stored outside. This defect creates a direct safety risk to me and others. I am unable to charge or operate the vehicle normally, and I have been advised by the dealer that the recall repair cannot be performed because there are no available batteries or parts. This leaves me without transportation and continues the safety risk identified by NHTSA, with no practical remedy or timeline. The problem has been confirmed by a Jeep dealer, and I have written documentation showing the vehicle is non-drivable due to the recall condition. I have also attempted resolution with Stellantis/Chrysler Capital without success. I am reporting a defect with the driver-side sun visor on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The sun visor mounting mechanism is faulty and has broken/detached during normal use. When this occurs, the visor drops down unexpectedly and obstructs the driver’s forward view. This creates a serious safety hazard, as the visor can suddenly block visibility while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the
... risk of a crash. The failure happened without excessive force or misuse, only routine flipping and positioning of the visor. I am aware that many other owners of 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited vehicles have experienced the same sun visor failure, suggesting a widespread defect in the design or materials used. This appears to be a known and recurring issue affecting multiple vehicles of the same model year. I believe this defect should be investigated as a safety-related issue and considered for a recall, as it directly impacts driver visibility and safe vehicle operation.Read more

While driving my vehicle on the highway, the steering wheel locked up and it put itself into neutral. The abs system notification and another light was active and my jeep stated my vehicle was going too fast for the gear it was in. The abs breaking system bypassed the nss safety feature in my jeep causing me to go off the road as a I lost all control of the steering in my vehicle. Upon a check by
... the mechanic, I had faulty wiring in the wiring harness which they cannot replace because the part is no longer made. My jeep is only a 2015. I went off the road because there was poor weather - it was snowing out and my vehicle would not respond to any gear resulting in my turning the vehicle off. My jeep was towed to the dealership for diagnosis. I have not picked up my jeep yet due to the dealership schedule but have attached the communication with them concerning the problems.Read more

Problem Description (very important): My 2018 Jeep Wrangler experiences a severe and violent front-end shaking commonly referred to as “death wobble.” This occurs while driving at highway speeds and makes the vehicle difficult to control until I slow down significantly. The shaking feels dangerous and unpredictable and creates a serious safety risk. I transport my children in this vehicle, and
... this issue is frightening and unsafe for passengers and other drivers. My dealership states there is no recall, but I am aware of widespread consumer complaints, documented defects, and lawsuits involving death wobble in Jeep Wranglers, including the 2018 model year. I believe this is a known steering/suspension defect and not normal wear and tear. I am reporting this for safety reasons.Read more

I purchased a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo earlier this year. The salesman told me that the fuel cover locks when the doors are locked, but the cover does not lock. I sent an email to Stallantis, the corporation to Jeep and inquired about this. They replied that all 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokees should have lock gas covers. (See uploaded file) I also tried to purchase a lock cap for my car, but
... I couldn't find one AND I LOOKED ALL OVER. A vehicle that does not have a locking mechanism to the gas tank leaves it vulnerable to vandalism. Substances can be inserted into the gas tank that could cause permanent damage to the engine. And since Stellantis indicated that all the these vehicles should have a locking gas mechanism, IT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I am requesting that you instruct Jeep to have a recall on all of the vehicles that do not have locking gas cap mechanisms and have them installed. The "date this incident occurred" is the date of the vehicle purchase, February 11, 2025.Read more

While driving in northwestern Pennsylvania during a snowstorm, the driver engaged the vehicle’s factory “Snow Mode.” Immediately thereafter, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and loss of steering control. The driver was forced to pull off the I79 interstate in severe winter conditions and exit the vehicle to avoid being struck by a snowplow. This created a dangerous roadside exp
... osure and a significant risk of collision or injury. The vehicle was towed to a Jeep dealership and diagnosed with a failed rear differential requiring replacement. The dealership stated the part has been on national backorder since 2024, with no estimated availability. The failure occurred without warning and rendered the vehicle completely inoperable. The dealership further advised that this rear differential failure is a known issue, and recommended against installing a used replacement due to reliability and safety concerns. Safety Concern: This failure resulted in: •Sudden loss of vehicle control in hazardous weather •Loss of motive power •Forced roadside exposure in active traffic conditions The inability to obtain replacement parts compounds the safety risk by leaving the vehicle unusable and preventing timely repair. Request: I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA can evaluate whether this represents a systemic safety defect related to the rear differential in this vehicle platform, including failure mode, warning adequacy, and parts availability affecting safe remediation.Read more
