I am submitting this complaint because my vehicle’s driver seat has a dangerous and unpredictable defect that creates an immediate safety hazard. While the vehicle is in motion, the driver’s seat will suddenly and randomly move forward without warning, pushing the driver into the steering wheel and crushing the leg and footwell area. This is not a minor adjustment issue—it is a sudden mechan
... ical movement that physically forces the driver into an unsafe position while actively operating the vehicle. This has occurred at highway speeds and in heavy traffic, which makes the situation extremely alarming. When the seat unexpectedly moves forward, the driver is forced closer to the steering wheel, restricting movement and making it difficult to properly steer, brake, or maintain control of the vehicle. In those moments, the driver’s ability to safely operate the vehicle is compromised. The only way we have been able to stop the seat from continuing to move forward is to perform an emergency maneuver, pull the vehicle over, completely shut the vehicle off, and restart it in order to reset the system. Until the vehicle is fully turned off and restarted, the seat will not return to its normal position. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership twice after the check engine light came on. Each time, we were told the light was being triggered by the “comfort seat module.” However, despite the system indicating an issue with the comfort seat module, the dealership stated they could not find any problems with the seat or the module itself. This situation is extremely frightening and dangerous. A driver being physically forced forward into the steering wheel while traveling at highway speeds creates a serious risk of losing control of the vehicle. This defect puts not only the occupants of the vehicle at risk, but also other motorists and pedestrians sharing the roadway. This issue needs to be investigated before someone is seriously injured or worse. No driver should haveRead more

The vehicle experiences sudden engine shutdown while driving. The engine completely turns off without warning. There are no warning lights, no check engine light, and no prior indication of failure. The exact component causing the failure is unknown at this time, but it appears to involve the engine and/or electrical system. The vehicle is available for inspection and has been taking to doge and n
... othing is being done yet. The vehicle shuts off while I am actively driving, causing immediate loss of power. This creates a dangerous situation because I lose acceleration and power steering while in traffic. I transport six children daily in this vehicle. Sudden engine shutdown while driving significantly increases the risk of a crash, especially in traffic or at higher speeds. This is a serious safety hazard for my family and others on the road. The dealership has not confirmed the cause. The vehicle has been taken in multiple times for service and diagnostics, and over $4,000 has been spent on repairs. However, the stalling issue continues and has not been resolved. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Dodge dealership service department multiple times. No manufacturer representative has inspected the vehicle yet. There were no warning lamps, no check engine light, and no dashboard messages prior to the engine shutting off. The shutdown occurs without any advance warning. The vehicle operates normally and then abruptly turns off.Given the sudden loss of power while driving and the risk of collision, I believe this may be a broader safety defect that could potentially affect other vehicles of the same model.Read more

The high-voltage battery on my 2022 Nissan Leaf is subject to Recall 25V655. The recall notice states that the battery cells can develop excessive lithium deposits, which increases electrical resistance and can cause rapid battery heating during Level 3 fast charging. Nissan instructs owners not to use Level 3 charging at all until a “remedy” is available. The issue is that the remedy describ
... ed by Nissan is not an actual repair of the battery defect. Nissan states it will install software that monitors for “state-of-charge fluctuation” and, if detected, will prevent the vehicle from restarting or recharging in order to avoid a thermal incident. This means the defect inside the battery cells is still present, and the car may disable itself if the defect begins to appear. The recall materials also state there is no warning before overheating occurs. This creates multiple safety concerns: • The underlying battery defect remains uncorrected. • The vehicle can become immobilized (unable to restart or recharge) if the software detects the condition. • Loss of Level 3 charging capability affects the ability to travel safely or plan charging when needed. • A battery fire risk exists during Level 3 charging if the defect is not detected in time. Nissan’s documents state that the software is meant only to prevent the “progression” of a thermal incident, not to repair the defective battery. I am concerned that my vehicle contains a known hazardous defect that has not been physically repaired and that the software-only response is inadequate to ensure safety. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA is aware that the remedy being offered does not address the internal battery defect itself and may leave owners exposed to continued safety and reliability risks.Read more

I purchased this car earlier in the year with very low mileage. Car belonged to one owner and well taken care of. Driving home from work 2 hr drive several days felt something was off shimmy noise. ... of tires On 8/21 took to Mr. Tire in Hammonton NJ to mount rims tires. he called that the driveshaft and parts fell apart in his hands. A several hundred dollar job turned into three days costing $1409.64. Several weeks later I received the Honda recall for the exact parts I had repaired. I sent the invoice from Mr. Tire, along with the Tire Rack invoice & told to get the car inspected by a Honda dealer. 11/1 Boardwalk Honda inspected and was approved by Honda for reimbursement. I emailed to ask how much was being reimbursed. No response. I called in January and was told $670 was approved. wheel hub, axle assembly and ab sensor. All part of drive shaft failure from my research. also tires and rims get damaged as well. I asked for something in writing. Was told they do not do that. I called on 2/12/26 and several weeks ago and both times told me it would be sent to a care specialist for expediting since it has been months since approval. Well, never a response from anyone. It is now 5 months on 3/1 that repairs were approved and still no check. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. They have a duty to make repairs at no cost or to reimburse if repairs were made and paid for the by the owner. I’d really like to get all of what I am out of pocket. I mean the entire Mr. Tire invoice should be reimbursed. Had I been driving when the parts fell apart I would be dead as I drive the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway 2 hours each way.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a sudden and premature transfer case failure on my 2021 Acura TLX Type S equipped with Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. The failure occurred during normal driving conditions and without prior warning indicators. Based on my experience and numerous similar reports from other owners of this vehicle, this appears to be an ongoing and s
... ystemic issue that warrants formal investigation and recall consideration. While accelerating under normal road conditions, I heard a loud and distinct “pop” noise from underneath the vehicle. The sound was abrupt and mechanical in nature, as if an internal drivetrain component had failed. Immediately following the noise, the vehicle’s driving characteristics changed noticeably. Although the car continued to move forward and there were no immediate warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, the drivetrain behavior was clearly altered. After the incident, the vehicle began operating as though the majority of drivetrain load was being directed to the front wheels. The vehicle now feels significantly front-heavy during acceleration and general driving. There is a distinct change in weight transfer and torque delivery that was not present prior to the failure. The balance that is characteristic of a rear-biased SH-AWD performance system is no longer present. There were no grinding sounds, fluid leaks, or vibration at the time of failure. There were also no warning messages, check engine lights, AWD system warnings, or drivetrain alerts displayed to notify me of any malfunction. The failure occurred suddenly and without notice.I respectfully request that NHTSA open a formal investigation into premature transfer case failures on 2021–2023 Acura TLX Type S vehicles equipped with SH-AWD. This issue should be evaluated for recall eligibility or mandated corrective action to ensure driver safety. Thank you for reviewing this complaint.Read more

This technical failure in the BMW B58TU engine (2019–2021) involves the variable-displacement oil pump's internal thermoplastic slide. In low ambient temperatures, the high viscosity of cold oil creates mechanical stress that causes this plastic component to fracture. The Safety Hazard The primary risk is a sudden loss of motive power. When the slide fails, oil pressure becomes unregulate
... d or drops entirely, triggering an immediate "Drivetrain Malfunction" or engine shutdown. Immobilization: Vehicles may stall in active traffic or high-speed environments without sufficient warning. Environmental Risk: Failures peak in extreme cold, leaving occupants stranded in freezing conditions while awaiting recovery. Detection Gap: The electronic oil level sensor often fails to complete a measurement ("Measurement Aborted") before a low-pressure warning appears, depriving drivers of a clear precursor to mechanical failure. Critical Technical Challenges Obfuscated Parts History: BMW has superseded the original plastic-vane pump with a revised metal-vane version. However, the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETK) now lists the metal version as the "original" part for affected VINs, making it impossible for owners to verify which version is physically installed without engine teardown. High Repair Barrier: Correcting this defect requires extensive disassembly, often costing $6,000–$8,000. If the failure occurs at speed, total engine replacement is frequently required.Read more

To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint regarding a 2012 Hyundai Elantra equipped with the 1.8L Nu engine, which is experiencing premature internal engine damage that presents a potential safety risk. Vehicle details: Year/Make/Model: 2012 Hyundai Elantra Mileage: Approximately 134,500 miles Issue description: The engine produces a persistent ticking/knocking noise, most pronounced
... at cold start but now continuing even after the engine has warmed. A Hyundai dealership diagnosed the vehicle with piston slap and confirmed significant scarring on the cylinder walls, stating that the only repair is full engine replacement. Despite the presence of internal engine damage, no warning lights are illuminated. I am concerned this condition could lead to sudden engine seizure or loss of power while driving, creating a safety hazard. Additional observations include: Excessive crankcase blow-by observed when removing the oil fill cap while the engine is running Strong exhaust fumes at cold start Noise most noticeable at idle and low RPM Regular oil changes using manufacturer-recommended oil viscosity The dealership advised the condition was not repairable short of engine replacement and did not submit the concern for Hyundai corporate technical review (Techline), despite the known history of engine defects in Hyundai Nu engines. I am filing this complaint to document a pattern of premature internal engine wear that may not be adequately addressed through recalls or warranty programs, and which could result in sudden engine failure. Safety Defect Report — Engine Oil Pump Failure (BMW B58TU Engine) Component or System Involved The failure involves the variable-displacement engine oil pump installed in BMW vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, commonly found in model years 2019–2021. The oil pump contains an internal thermoplastic adjusting component that regulates engine oil pressure. Field repor
... ts indicate this internal component can fracture, causing unstable or complete loss of engine oil pressure. The failed component may be available for inspection upon request if retained after repair. Description of Failure and Safety Risk When the internal thermoplastic adjusting component fails, engine oil pressure regulation becomes erratic or is lost entirely. This results in insufficient engine lubrication and may cause sudden engine shutdown or severe mechanical damage due to oil starvation. Loss of engine power or complete engine disablement can occur without adequate warning, creating a safety hazard if the vehicle becomes immobilized while driving or shortly after startup. This risk is heightened when the failure occurs in active traffic or in cold weather conditions, where occupants may be exposed to freezing temperatures while awaiting assistance. Operating Conditions and Failure Pattern The failure most frequently occurs during cold-start operation in low ambient temperatures. Failures appear to progress rapidly once symptoms begin. Warning Lamps, Messages, or Prior Symptoms Reported precursor symptoms may include: Inability to electronically measure engine oil level. Abnormal or unstable oil pressure behavior. Sudden drivetrain malfunction warnings. Minimal or no actionable warning prior to engine damage or shutdown. These symptoms may appear shortly before failure or may not provide sufficient time for corrective action. Inspection or Confirmation of the Problem Field failures have been reported across multiple vehicles and production years. In many casesRead more

Malfunction of the lane keeping assistance - I have had two incidents, where the second has resulted in damage to the vehicle. First incident, lane assist (passive) system jerked me off of an exit lane into the rumble strips before I could correct. (no damage done) This was approx. Mid-late January, and unknown conditions. I didn't think to report it until I was prompted by the Subaru Maintenance
... facility after incident #2. Second incident - active lane keeping assist was on (with adaptive cruise control) for my own testing on this new car. I was at low speeds, at ~6 am. The vehicle suddenly jerked hard to the right and collided with/drove over a curb at speed. It quickly displayed a warning on the driver cluster and short audible warning beeps but I did not see what it was because it was so fast. The car immediately corrected back into the lane before I could even react to the collision. Important context: This was on a concrete material road that was newly repaved (summer 2025) with road lines that were painted at the same time. It was also under winter conditions, not actively snowing, but there was lingering salt residue/coloration on the road surface as well as large snow banks along the grass strips due to plowing. The snow bank in the area was approx. 3 ft high at the location the car collided with the curb. There was also lingering salt and dried snow-sludge on the car that could have had an impact on the sensors. I did not, however, have any sensor obstruction warning. The vehicle was taken to the Subaru dealer for service, was determined to be out of alignment and fixed as a warranty request. The vehicle is available for inspection, however this was clearly a software failure and not a component failure, and the damage has been repaired. To my knowledge, the dealer service center did not attempt to reproduce the issue.Read more

RECALL NO: 19V-868 | VIN: [XXX] | CASE #: [XXX] VEHICLE: 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 (X204) DESCRIPTION OF SAFETY PROBLEM: This complaint concerns a failure to adequately remedy NHTSA Recall 19V-868. Since [XXX], my vehicle has been grounded at Mercedes-Benz of Westmont. The dealer performed the recall out of sequence, ignored documented circuit faults, and refused mandatory Xentry commissioning and
... SCN Normalization, leaving the SRS system inoperative and uncertified. NHTSA records (Ex B-27) confirm the recall remains "Incomplete." MANUFACTURER ABANDONMENT OF SAFETY OVERSIGHT: On Feb 26, 2026, an MBUSA Executive Referral Manager (Case #[XXX]) stated by phone he would not read my 61-page safety complaint and classified the failure to verify the recall as a "dealer issue" due to franchise laws. Only 28 minutes after admitting he would not read the file, he sent an email falsely claiming he had "reviewed the documentation" and closed the case. By refusing to audit a documented failure to certify a safety repair, MBUSA is in active violation of its duty to ensure recall completion under 49 U.S.C. § 30120. COERCIVE SAFETY THREAT (49 U.S.C. § 30122): Service Manager Blake Farmer and Advisor Harry Arroyo explicitly threatened to remove the new airbag and reinstall the original defective recalled inflator (Ex B-6) during a billing dispute. This is a direct violation of 49 U.S.C. § 30122, which prohibits a dealer from knowingly making a safety system inoperative. DEALER NEGLIGENCE & ADDITIONAL RISKS: Dealer negligence regarding Part #204-440-68-41 (Ex B-17, B-26) caused a 5-day delay, resulting in a nationwide backorder. Furthermore, technician video (Ex B-10) shows an active oil leak (Code P2610-29), a fire/stalling hazard per MBUSA TSB LI05.20-P-067123 that the dealer refused to diagnose. ATTACHED: 61-page filing with 28 exhibits and 3 notarized affidavits. The 60-day federal deadline is April 4, 2026. I have currently been avoiding driving my car because it goes in limp mode when I’m stopped at red lights I smell oil burning sometimes ive seen small amounts of smoke coming from the engine as well as just receiving an oil change less than a month ago and it already being bad , I checked the mail the other day and i received a recall letter from Kia stating my car needs to be serviced and that
... I can take it in for a free engine test and inspection free of cost as well as a system update free of cost , I schedule an appointment today for 11 I was told it will take half a day I receive a text to pick it back up 1 hour later I ask if an engine test was also done i received no response so I came in and was told that I would have to pay 270 for a diagnosis despite the engine inspection being different they refused to do one stating the previous owners warranty is up so the system update was done without any inspection or test to see if the damage was already which it is based off the state of my car , when trying to leave my car was not starting up and when it finally did it went into limp mode completely and wouldn’t drive at that point I reach out to Kia costumer care center and they let me know that I should have gotten a inspection free of charge along side the update and to go somewhere else online also states regardless of warranty all recalls must be addressed if problems persist regardless of past service or owner , they also cleared my recall and listed it as repaired and it was not Kia corporate shows it is still an open recall as well . I also received a Kia multi point inspection that was not at all fully performed it is 1/4 fill out .Read more

Internal oil consumption. With no oil puddled or spattered under the vehicle at time of purchase from a dealership or since then, a dealer certified vehicle with AFM at 153 miles from leaving the dealer the oil was non-existant on the dipstick. This directly indicates a TSB, Techical Service Bulletin involving the cause of failed lifters causing internal oil consumption and damage to lifters, cam
... shaft, push rods, rings and possibly more. This is a common result of the Active Fuel Management system which shuts off some of the cylinders for fuel economy for Chevrolet V6 and V8 engines. The problem was reported to the dealer by me imediately after the oil check at 153 miles and then towed to the dealer. As this is considered a catastrophic amount of oil loss, the vehicle could've been rendered inoperatable during operation in traffic and been a servere safty hazard. The dealer after initial inspection sent me a message that they think the problem is an undetectable small leak so they put some dye in the oil to check it. Which evades the actual internal consumption problem of 1.5 to 2 or more quarts of oil lost in just 153 miles by that ratio that would amount to 13 quarts per 1,000 miles. And helps them stall for time, to try to run out the very short 3 month/3000 mile drivetrain warranty. There was noticable erratic engine performance and some shudder but that shudder may have come from the transmission. The odometer read was 115690 at purchase and 115843 when towed=153 miles driven from when the certified inspection was performed for a loss of 1.5 to 2 quarts that I know of, it could have been much more oil missing. A suddenly inoperatable vehicle in town at intersections or on the highway at high speeds could be deadly for myself or others in traffic. I took and have videos of checking the dipstick to show it dry but it's an mp4 file which I don't see a place to upload it here. Available upon request.Read more
