On June 1, 2026, software update 68C was performed at the dealership on my 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. On June 6, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., after driving the vehicle for about 25 minutes, I experienced a serious malfunction. While making a turn at a speed of less than 10 mph, the vehicle suddenly and without warning lost throttle and propulsion. It appeared to hesitate as though shifting betw
... een electric and gasoline power, and then abruptly and erratically lurched forward, accelerating to what felt like maximum speed. The Jeep struck a chain-link fence, which slowed its movement, but it continued to surge forward. I applied the brakes and attempted to maintain control of the vehicle, but it kept lurching ahead. At no point did the vehicle emit a safety warning, sound an alert, or attempt to stop automatically, even though it normally responds to obstacles when operating properly. I repeatedly attempted to place the vehicle in reverse, but it did not respond. I turned the engine off and back on several times, and only after more than three attempts did the vehicle finally recognize reverse, allowing me to back away from the fence. A man in a truck assisted me and contacted the police. Both the responding police officer and the assisting individual expressed concern about the potential danger, particularly because the vehicle is a 4xe. I am now extremely hesitant and fearful to operate or move the vehicle. The vehicle is available for inspection and has not been inspected yet by dealership or insurance. I have it parked outside of my residence.Read more

I am writing to report a severe safety defect regarding my 2018 Jeep Renegade. The vehicle suffers from an extreme internal oil consumption defect, burning 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. According to certified automotive diagnostics, this is five times the normal operating rate. This rapid oil depletion causes the vehicle to abruptly lose power, stall, and completely shut down while driving in
... active traffic without warning. Sudden engine failure at highway speeds creates an immediate, critical risk of collisions. The vehicle’s history directly matches documented manufacturer issues. The original purchasing dealership notified me that the vehicle was impacted by Customer Satisfaction Notification W80 for abnormal oil consumption. My research also confirmed related under-hood wiring recalls for this model year that cause fuel pressure drops and engine stalling. However, when I presented the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership in Newnan, Georgia, due to repeated stalling, the service department refused recall coverage because my specific VIN was not flagged in their database. They replaced a valve cover gasket instead, but the severe oil depletion and dangerous stalling persisted. A subsequent inspection by an independent licensed automotive shop confirmed the excessive oil burning and determined the engine has suffered fatal internal wear, requiring a complete engine replacement. Because the manufacturer excludes my VIN from the official recall population, they refuse to provide any administrative or financial remedies. However, my vehicle is exhibiting the exact mechanical failures, dangerous stalling, and severe oil consumption targeted by NHTSA’s investigations into the engine. Excluding a vehicle experiencing identical safety failures based solely on an arbitrary VIN window leaves consumers unprotected. This unaddressed defect ultimately rendered the vehicle un-driveable, forcing me to surrender it, causing financial hardship and negative credit impact.Read more

I was driving and my power steering suddenly went out by its self. It was a very dangerous and traumatic experience. I received a warning light svc and, had the car looked at a Jeep dealership in late Feb early March, the PTU case needs to be replaced. There seems to be a recall for this on jeep cherokees but my car isn't listed and my car has had a failure.
Incident date: Jun 6, 2026
My vehicle has 81000 miles and the PTU/transmission went out. After doing some research about this issue I discovered that it is a very common problem with jeeps from 2014 to 2024. To get it repaired is $3,000. Seems like Jeep was installing bad transmissions. They should recall these and cover the coast for repair.

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited has a diagnosed failure of the two speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU), which is the exact subject of active NHTSA Campaign 26V290000/Jeep Recall 40D. Ed Martin Jeep in Anderson, Indiana provided me with written diagnostics confirming the failure. However, they stated “the part is on back order for 4-6 months” and even explicitly told me “the Jeep is fine to drive,
... nothing should happen to it”. The official NHTSA Safety reports warns this failure causes an unrecoverable loss of motive power at any speed and severe park rollaway risks. Driving this vehicle for half a year presents an extreme, life threatening safety hazard, and the manufacturer/dealer is failing to provide me with alternate safe transportation while the part is on backorder.Read more

On 02 January 2026, I started the vehicle when an error message appeared in the cluster "Auto Emergency Break (AEB) Limited Functionality Service Required". The Lane Assistance turned OFF but could be turned back ON. The vehicle visited the dealership on 13 February 2026 and the AEB error was repeated numerous times on start by dealership personnel. On Monday, 23 February 2026, vehicle was left at dealership for 10 days. They performed numerous software updates and returned vehicle to me on 05 March 2026. On 09 March 2026, AEB Error message appeared in cluster. Took vehicle immediately to dealership and they refused to take it back in for service. They stated Jeep had no idea how to resolve and I had to wait on a solution. AEB message happened again on 14 March 2026, 31 March 2026, 01 April 2026, 05 May 2026, 08 May 2026, 21 May 2026. On 05 May 2026, the AEB error and ALM error appeared on the same day. I drove the vehicle to the dealership and they retrieved error code U045D. Dealership finally agreed to take vehicle back in for service on Monday, 25 May 2026 which is where is still sitting today, 05 Jun 2026. Vehicle has been in and out of the Dealership since 12/2024 to address the problem, however FCA/Stellanis has come back with no fix or solution to the problem and states to bring the vehicle in every 3,000 miles to have an alignment done, which is unacceptable. The vehicle has most recently been at the Dealership since 1/2026 and is still currently at the Dealership as of today 6/5/2026. A Star ticket was opened with the Manufacturer to address the issues, and a Field Engineer was sent out who was unable to diagnose why the alignment is falling out after the vehicle is realigned. Stellanis/FCA is now claiming this is a "maintenance" issue and not a manufacturing defect. The Dealership most recently had an independent technician who specializes in diagnostics/troubleshooting FCA issues look at the vehicle and the technician also could not diagnose why the alignment is continuing to fail. Online forums have hundreds of Consumer complaints about this same issue with trying to get it resolved with FCA directly and having no luck. This is a major safety issue that will eventually lead to a tire blowout or veering off the road and could result in serious injuries to someone if this is not addressed properly. It should not take someone getting in an accident or being killed/seriously injured for FCA/Stellanis to take this manufacturing defect seriously. These vehicles need to be recalled and thoroughly inspected with thorough alignment testing.Read more

Shortly after a recall repair was completed, I experienced a sudden loss of motive power while driving approximately 45 mph on a public roadway. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had approximately half a tank of gasoline remaining. I observed the high-voltage battery gauge reach approximately 1% state of charge. Immediately after the battery gauge reached that level, the vehicle suddenly lo
... st power and appeared to stall while in motion. I received no warning before the failure occurred. At the time of the event, a battery system failure warning appeared along with a plug icon on the dashboard. I was forced to pull off the roadway and bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle had to be placed in Park and restarted before it would operate again. Fortunately, there was a safe area available to pull over. Had this occurred in heavier traffic or where there was no safe shoulder, it could have created a serious safety hazard. I returned the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week but advised they could not duplicate the failure and could not identify a cause. I was told to keep the vehicle charged. My concern is that the incident occurred immediately after the battery gauge reached approximately 1% state of charge. Based on the timing of the event, I am concerned there may be a problem related to the transition from electric/hybrid operation to gasoline engine operation when the high-voltage battery reaches a very low state of charge. I am not claiming this is the cause, only that the timing appears significant. To my knowledge, the vehicle was kept charged during dealership testing, and I do not know whether the battery was allowed to reach the same low state of charge that existed when the failure occurred. A sudden loss of motive power while driving creates a significant safety risk, and I have not received a clear explanation for the cause of the failure or assurance that it will not happen again.Read more

This vehicle stalls while on the road and it also stops driving, and the vehicle remains stationary. It's random and I never know when it will happen. There was a recall issued for this very problem in 2019. When I type in Mt Vin # it says no recalls on this vehicle. I feel this vehicle meets the same safety issues as the recall. I've contacted Chrysler with no progress.

I own a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sahara JKU with approximately 67,000 miles. The vehicle has experienced a failure involving the ABS control module and related braking/stability systems. Current symptoms include: * ABS warning light illuminated * Brake warning light illuminated * Traction control warning light illuminated * Intermittent speedometer malfunction * Brake pedal occasionally vibrates and b

I have been informed that replacement ABS modules for this vehicle have been unavailable for approximately nine months and remain unavailable as of today. This appears to be a widespread issue affecting Jeep Wrangler JK vehicles, with many owners reportedly unable to obtain replacement safety-critical ABS modules through Mopar or dealership networks. Because the ABS and traction/stability systems are malfunctioning, the vehicle cannot pass inspection and is unsafe for my family of four, especially during rain or emergency braking situations. This issue affects federally mandated vehicle safety systems, including anti-lock braking and electronic stability control. Owners should not be left without access to replacement parts for critical safety equipment for extended periods of time.Read more

I own a 2018 Jeep Wrangler that my 19 year old son drives for college. While driving, the vehicle jerked and became sluggish. There were no warning lights illuminated. I became aware that the front brake rotors had overheated again. I had the front right brake caliber and brake line changed back in 2024 and the issue has recurred this year. I had a local mechanic change the front brake pads and ro
... tors for both front tires and caliber to right front side only in April/2026 and the issue has started again today. The vehicle was taken back to local mechanic to be diagnosed again. He stated that the brake fluid was unable to properly bleed through the brake line restricting air to fully purge from the hydraulic system, which can result in incomplete bleeding, reduced braking performance, uneven pad wear, brake drag, or brake fade and is part of the reason for burning smell near right front tire. He added that car isn’t safe to drive in this condition due to safety concerns of accidents due to inability to properly brake or even a fire. Vehicle hasn’t been repaired due to cost and I will attempt to contact manufacturer. The initial mileage reading when this issue occurred in 2024 was 90,000 miles. The mileage as of this complaint is 112,392.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect affecting my 2015 Jeep Wrangler. More than a year ago, the ABS module in my vehicle failed. Since that failure, the ABS warning light, brake warning light, and traction control warning light have remained illuminated. As a result, my vehicle no longer has functioning Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), traction control, electronic stabi
... lity control functions, or cruise control. The loss of these safety systems significantly increases the risk of an accident, particularly during emergency braking situations, wet road conditions, loose gravel, or any circumstance where wheel lockup or loss of traction may occur. Without ABS, the wheels can lock during hard braking, increasing stopping distance and reducing steering control. Without traction control and stability control, the vehicle is more susceptible to skidding, fishtailing, and loss of control. I have contacted multiple Jeep dealerships seeking repairs. I have consistently been informed that the ABS module required to repair the vehicle is unavailable and has been on indefinite backorder. Dealership personnel have been unable to provide any estimated availability date or permanent repair solution. While researching this issue, I discovered that numerous Jeep Wrangler owners have reported the same ABS module failure. Online forums, dealership service departments, and consumer complaint websites indicate this is a widespread issue affecting many Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Owners have reported waiting several years for replacement modules, with some being told the part is discontinued or unavailable indefinitely. Dealership personnel have been unable to provide any estimated availability date or permanent repair solution. I believe NHTSA should investigate this issue as a potential safety defect affecting Jeep Wrangler models. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate the widespread ABS module failures, the ongoing lack of replacement parts.Read more

My daughter that is [XXX], her in the passenger seat, me driving were traveling down a street. I slowed to enter a turn lane going maybe 10 mph and heard a loud bang. I said "what was that noise." I glanced at my daughter she looked dazed and said "I don't know but something slammed into the back of my head." I pulled in where we were going and looked to find the head rest was popped open behind h
... er head. There were no bumps, no impacts and not even high speed. This headrest mechanism literally deployed for no reason slamming at high speed into the back of her head and neck. I stopped called Mopar and made a complaint because it was right at 5pm and dealers were closing. She was slurring speech, dazed and repeating herself. Took her to the urgent care that sent me to the ER out of concern. They told me she may need head and neck images. The doctors and staff were so confused as to what I was even talking about. I showed them photos so they could see the situation. I was in the ER with her for 5 hours. She has a concussion. THESE HEADRESTS ARE DANGEROUS AND JUST INJURED A MINOR. WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE ARE NOT CALLING FOR RECALL. THIS ISNT JUST ABOUT EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT. THIS INJURY COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE AND THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING FLAWED HERE. I HAVE SEEN MANY OF THE SAME STORY. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
