I was driving my 2017 Kia Rio at approximately 70 mph when the vehicle began shaking violently. I heard a loud mechanical sound from the engine compartment that sounded like something broke loose and was being thrown around. I immediately began pulling over as smoke started entering the cabin. As soon as I stopped, the car erupted into a fast-moving, intense fire originating in the engine compartm
... ent. The fire spread so quickly that the front of the vehicle and the passenger cabin were completely destroyed before the fire department arrived. The Austin Fire Department responded (Incident Type: Engine 2f) and the Travis County Sheriff's Office also opened a case (Case #[Insert Your Sheriff Case Number]). Multiple bystanders also called 911 due to the severity of the fire. The vehicle had under 80,000 miles and was maintained with regular oil changes every 6 months. I believe this fire was caused by a known manufacturing defect related to the engine connecting rod bearings or the HECU electrical short, both of which are subjects of major Kia safety recalls/settlements. The vehicle is currently a total lossRead more

The vehicle's shifter cable brushing was what was originally recalled. The dealership I visited informed me that the vehicle still has concerns about not being able to recognize when the car is in park. This means the vehicle is still unsafe to drive and a remedy has not yet been released for this. The dealership in question was Sky Dodge in Provo UT.

My complaint is that I was sold a dangerously defective vehicle with a known, unrepaired “stop driving” airbag safety recall, was not warned about the deadly risk, and am now being told to move and tow the car in direct contradiction to official safety instructions. ### Factual background - The vehicle I purchased has a Takata‑type airbag safety recall that carries a formal “do not drive

A recall repair was completed in 2023 related to an overheating warning. Recently, the same issue has returned. The engine cooling fan runs at a very high speed for several minutes and then shuts off, even when the vehicle is cold or operating under normal conditions. An overheating warning message appeared briefly while driving, but the temperature gauge remained within the normal range. This su
... ggests the engine may not actually be overheating and that the issue may be related to a faulty sensor, electrical system, or control module. The problem has not yet been fully diagnosed by a dealer due to diagnostic costs, but the symptoms are consistent with the original issue that led to the recall repair. This condition could pose a safety risk because the driver may receive inaccurate overheating warnings or may not be alerted if a real overheating condition occurs. The issue is intermittent and has occurred both while driving and when the vehicle is stationary. Attempts were made to contact the manufacturer to report this as a repeat issue after a recall repair, but no resolution was provided and a formal case was not successfully established.Read more

I am reporting a safety-related electrical failure involving the heated steering wheel system in a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. While driving, the heated steering wheel malfunctioned and produced smoke from the steering wheel area. This created an immediate safety concern due to the presence of smoke and the potential for electrical overheating or fire in a critical driver control component. This was not a
... n isolated incident. The same system required a prior repair under warranty in late 2023. Despite that repair, the failure recurred in late 2025 with more severe symptoms, including overheating and damage to electrical components. The vehicle was taken out of service for repair, and the total time out of service related to this issue was approximately 115 days due to parts delays and repair time. The problem was confirmed and repaired by authorized dealerships, including replacement of the steering wheel and related electrical components. There were no meaningful warning indicators prior to the failure. The issue occurred during normal operations. The repeated failure of the same system, combined with smoke and electrical malfunction in the steering wheel, raises concern about a potential defect that could pose a safety risk to drivers and passengers.Read more

My 2016 Subaru Outback CVT transmission has exhibited an intermittent jerking and grabbing sensation when accelerating from a stop, worse when cold, since at least February 2023. February 17 2026 — seven days before my warranty expiration — the same authorized Subaru dealer physically identified and documented a CVT oil pump cover leak. The same jerking complaint was again documented in writing. No repairs were made and the warranty expired one week later. The CVT defect has been physically confirmed by an authorized Subaru dealer within the warranty period and Subaru of America has denied my warranty claim in writing. This issue presents a safety concern. The unpredictable jerking and hesitation when accelerating from a stop creates dangerous situations in traffic, particularly at intersections and when merging. This demonstrates that the recall remedy did not correct the defect. The sudden engine shutdown without warning presents a serious safety hazard, especially at night and with passengers in the vehicle. Its been at the dealer ship for a month.Read more

My car started shutting down while driving. After the engine started seizing the key wouldn't turn in my ignition. Took car to dealership immediately on 10, 2026. Took again in 2024 for recall and other repairs. Found out after requesting previous service incidents they failed to do recall repairs and never notified me of it, or to come back. I've requested current diagnostic report several times
... in writing and verbally with codes for this current service, with non compliance. My car is still at the dealership needing work and I need current diagnostic report before I pay for repairs. I am attaching a dealership diagnostic e-Report for my 2013 Kia Optima from 2024. While the report lists “No Current DTC” for several systems, it also documents multiple “Communication Fail” errors across critical modules, including Smart Key, Head Lamp, Air Conditioner, Brake, and other systems. These communication failures indicate a broader electrical or network issue within the vehicle, not simply a failed battery. The report also shows that certain diagnostic scans were not properly performed. Additionally, there are historical fault codes related to TPMS and weight classification systems, further supporting that the vehicle has experienced ongoing electrical issues. Despite these findings, the dealership attributed the vehicle failure solely to a bad battery and did not provide a current battery diagnostic test. They also failed to address an open recall related to electrical/fuse issues prior to this failure. Based on this past diagnostic report, I believe the root cause of my vehicle’s failure is an unresolved electrical defect, potentially related to the outstanding recall, rather than normal battery wear. This has resulted in my vehicle becoming inoperable and poses a serious safety concern.Read more

I am reporting a repeated safety-related issue involving my 2021 Jeep Cherokee Overland. The vehicle has experienced ongoing engine misfires and overheating, which create unsafe driving conditions. The issue presents as follows: -Engine begins to misfire, causing rough operation and shaking. -The check engine light flashes intermittently indicating active misfire. -Vehicle performance becomes
... inconsistent, with concern for loss of power while driving. -Vehicle experiencing coolant loss/overheating, concern for engine failure. These conditions create a serious safety risk, as the vehicle may lose power unexpectedly or become inoperable while driving. Multiple repair attempts have been made, including replacement of ignition components (coils and spark plugs) and other related service. The issue continues to recur, and the root cause has not been resolved. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue through the dealership and manufacturer, the problem persists and the vehicle remains unreliable. The manufacturer has not provided a resolution despite multiple attempts, and communication is unsuccessful I am submitting this complaint due to ongoing safety concerns and a lack of resolution.Read more

I'd like to report an incidence of manufacturer non-compliance. We've had recall number 25V-514 open since September 30, 2025. The dealership has said that they don't have a part and simply left it at that. I called Land Rover, and they also indicated that they don't have a part. They won't provide any more details. It has now been 176 days since this we received the letter. I'm sure that La
... nd Rover knew about this problem long before the letter was sent. This is a beyond unacceptable timeframe to process this recall. They are putting the lives of consumers at risk. The letter states, "Suspension arm detachment can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash." This is a safety issue and they have an obligation to fix it. This is beyond the "reasonable" timeframe to complete a recall.Read more
