At approximately 37,000 miles, the CV axles on my 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid required replacement due to premature wear. Now, at around 62,200 miles, the vehicle is experiencing excessive vibration and shaking during acceleration, particularly noticeable at moderate to high speeds. This issue appears to be related to the powertrain or suspension system and may indicate a recurring or unresolved pro
... blem with the CV axles or associated components. The vibrations are severe enough to affect vehicle control, especially during lane changes or merging onto highways. When accelerating to merge into highway traffic, the vehicle shakes and vibrates so profusely that it feels like the car is going to shake apart. This makes it difficult to accelerate normally and safely, putting both the driver and surrounding vehicles at risk. The shaking could lead to loss of traction or steering instability, increasing the likelihood of an accident. This issue has been widely reported by other Ford Maverick owners and has been a frequently discussed problem in forums and owner communities for over a year. Despite its prevalence, there appears to be no long-term fix other than replacing the CV axle assembly with the same OEM part, which may be the root cause of the problem. That is why I feel it is important to bring this to your attention — it is a known issue with no real correction, and it continues to affect vehicle safety. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to the onset of the problem. The component is available for inspection upon request.Read more

On three separate occasions we have lost braking power preventing instantaneous stopping, and control of the vehicle. They partially work when your foot is pushing on the pedal all the way to the floor. This occurs autonomously without warning and the following occur: Lose breaking power, inability to brake and stop at safe distances instantaneously and momentarily, Brake ABS alarm, Parking Supp
... ort Brake Malfunction ("Visit Your Dealer"), Check Engine, Collision Assistance fails, and Traction Control fails. The first occurrence my spouse was driving the vehicle on a 65 MPH three lane highway that at the time was evening rush hour. She had to decrease her speed to 30 MPH in a 65 MPH speed zone in order to slow the vehicle enough at a safe distance from the vehicle in front of her, then continue at a safe distance as traffic ahead of her excelled. Had this happened traveling the speed limit, and had to stop abruptly, this could have either caused severe bodily injury and/or death to her and the vehicle behind and in front of her, and other adjacent lanes. The second occurrence after the dealer looked at it (as covered under warranty), we received the vehicle back. The next day the brakes went out and alarms appeared once again as she pulled out of the driveway. I pulled the vehicle in the driveway for her and couldn't stop and almost drove through my garage at only idling speed. The third occurrence was most recently after an oil change. I drove the vehicle around the block and again, the brakes went out and alarms appeared once again. We have owned this vehicle since May 10th and it has been at dealerships for repair for at least 35 days minimum. On the first occurence they had a regional tech/engineer inspect the vehicle. Nothing was found as problematic and a factory reset was performed - nothing replaced. The second occasion - same outcome... nothing fixed or replaced. The vehicle is in the shop again for the same problem.Read more

The ABS engaged unnecessarily when I pressed the brake pedal, causing the vehicle to slide forward about 6-10 feet while I was driving at approximately 10 miles per hour. The same situation has occurred three times over the past seven months. When the ABS engages, it takes longer for the vehicle to slow down or stop. This poses a potential risk for everyday driving. The sliding center console/armrest in my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe moves too easily and does not remain securely locked in place when fully extended forward. Even light pressure, such as when a passenger or driver rests an elbow, can cause it to shift suddenly. This can startle the driver and cause a momentary loss of focus, creating a safety hazard while the vehicle is in motion. When the console is
... fully extended forward, it should lock in position. In my vehicle, it often fails to stay locked, allowing unintended movement in each direction. This happens during normal driving conditions and can be triggered accidentally by an occupant’s elbow or arm. The sudden movement is distracting, especially at highway speeds, and could contribute to an unsafe driving situation. GM issued TSB PIE0677B in April 2022 describing this exact condition (“Power Floor Console Armrest will not lock in place and/or console lid slides back and forth freely”), indicating they are aware of the defect. However, there has been no recall. Given the potential for distraction and loss of control, this should be addressed as a safety recall.Read more

The center touchscreen display in my 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE has developed multiple unresponsive areas, particularly in spots that are frequently used. The unit powers on and displays images, but the touch input does not work in certain sections, making it difficult or impossible to operate important features like navigation, phone pairing, and climate settings through the screen. This fa
... ilure has the potential to affect safety because the unresponsive areas make it harder to change settings while driving, which can increase driver distraction. It may also impact the visibility and use of the backup camera interface in some cases. The issue appeared gradually over the last few months, and the exact cause is unknown. There were no warning lights or messages before the failure. The problem has been confirmed by the driver and is scheduled for inspection by a Mitsubishi dealership. The component is still in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. Mitsubishi has issued a warranty extension for touchscreen failures on the Mitsubishi Outlander due to known defects, however no such extension has been publicly offered for the Eclipse Cross despite similar reports. This raises concerns about inconsistent treatment of similar defects across models. No prior repairs have been attempted, but a reset of the system did not resolve the issue.Read more

While refueling my 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie with the large (33 gal) fuel tank, the fuel pump "vacuum-assisted automatic shutoff" or "nozzle shutoff mechanism" is triggered dozens of times prior to the tank actually reaching a full level. I have been experiencing this issue consistently for the past year and it has occurred, to the same degree, at each of the fill-ups conducted at a variety of gas sta
... tions during this time. I've had an independent service center diagnose the issue and they recommended I take it to a dealer for service and also report the issue because this has been a common issue they have seen. Other Ram 1500 owners on internet forums also report having had this issue. The safety issue is that gas may become trapped in a fuel system component where it shouldn't be collecting which exposes vehicle occupants to an increased risk of fire in the event of an accident. Furthermore, this condition makes it nearly impossible to know when the fuel tank is full because the shutoff mechanism is triggered many times prior to full. This results in over-filling the tank and possibly having fuel remain in the filler neck, which also unnecessarily increases the risk to vehicle occupants to fire or explosion if involved in an accident. Vehicle owner manuals and gas station pump warning stickers typically warn operators of the dangers of over-filling or "topping off" fuel tanks specifically for this reason. With the system not operating correctly, the risk of overfilling is severe and unsafe.Read more

The engine on my 2020 Hyundai Kona failed suddenly while driving, causing complete loss of power. There were no warning lights until after the failure. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership. ... st outlining both NHTSA Recall 21V-301 (federally mandated) and Service Campaign 974, asking for documentation supporting their diagnosis and any communications with corporate. This request was ignored. Afterward, the dealership said they would replace the engine, but upon completion they recommended replacing certain bolts and hoses at my expense ($849), claiming that if I declined, any future related repairs would not be covered. When asked why these parts were not included in the repair or how their condition would void future coverage, I was told they were “normal wear” items not covered under warranty. No documentation or policy basis was provided. When asked whether the repair was processed under Recall 21V-301 or Campaign 974, they stated it was not tied to either and was filed under the powertrain warranty without corporate involvement. Multiple shop personnel had earlier confirmed verbally that the failed part matched the recall defect, but the service manager provided a different explanation and refused supporting documents. The dealership also claimed Recall 21V-301 was “completed” in October 2021 via a software update, despite the vehicle never having been at the dealership since purchase. No proof of recall completion or CNDS software installation was provided. The lack of evidence that Recall 21V-301 was properly remedied, the possibility of an improper closure in Hyundai’s system, and the fact that the failure matched the recall defect raise serious concerns about compliance with federal recall requirements. I am waiting for corporate to contact me also.Read more

Since 20,000 miles I have had problems with my steering column. I first took it in back in August of 2023 due to a clunking noise coming from my steering wheel. When I first took it in my suspension was tightened but this did not resolve the issue. When I took it back in a week later I was told I needed to replace my rack and pinion. The rack and pinion was replaced but my car still had the faint
... clunking sound. The clunking came back a year later. At 30,000 miles I was told both of my front axles had failed and both were replaced. The clunking sound still remained but faint. Seven months later the clunking returned once again and much more aggressively (I was out of warranty at this point). I was told one of my axles failed once again prematurely and was replaced after sitting for nearly a month. When I got my car back after nearly 4 weeks i noticed the exact same aggressive clunking noise in my steering column. I returned my car back a week later for a new diagnosis after speaking with the service manager. The report came back stating that both of my lower control arms went bad and needed to be replaced. Also discovered was a bad intermediate shaft causing the clunking noise. The dealership decided to goodwill the service to fix my lower control arms since it was a dangerous situation to drive in and I had been driving my car like this for 20,000 miles since I originally took the car in. The dealership says they can not do anything about the intermediate shaft which could cause me to lose all steering abilities and cause a serious car accident. Based on public recall data for the 2020 Stelvio, the following safety recalls may be related to my vehicle’s failure: •21V878 (Nov 2021): Fuel line sensor housing crack—potential for fuel leak, engine stall, or fire risk. •23V382 (May 2023): Cracks in carbon-ceramic brake rotors—risk of fracture under stress. •24V943 (Dec 2024): Loose connection between brake pedal and booster—risk of loss of braking effectiveness. •24V510 (Jul 2024): Faulty seatbelt buckle sensor—could prevent proper airbag deployment. These defects raise questions about the integrity and safety of critical vehicle systems. I request that my vehicle be evaluated for recall applicability and, if eligible, covered under required repair programs •The failure rendered my vehicle inoperable, imposing an immense financial burden due to the exorbitant repair cost. •I believe this is not an isolated incident but indicative of a systemic defect. •If unresolved, this poses ongoing safety risks to me, my passengers, and other road users. I respectfully request that the NHTSA: 1.Initiate an investigation into whether this engine failure is representative of a larger safety defect across the 2020 Stelvio vehicle population. 2.Review the applicability of relevant recalls (listed above) to my VIN. 3.Require Alfa Romeo to provide recall remedies, reimbursement, or a goodwill resolution where appropriate. 4. Issue a technical directive (TSB or recall) if a broader manufacturing defect is identified. Thank youRead more

While coasting slowly through a parking lot at approximately 5-8mph I tapped the brake to slow further while making a tight turn and to safely pass a vehicle also turning towards me. This caused the car to lurch and accelerate as though my foot was on the gas pedal, but it wasn't. I had to step hard on the brake to bring it under control.
