The first time this happened I was pulling into a parking lot and all service lights started flickering and it said to turn turn off car immediately as I was driving, I pulled into the nearest parking lot and it just stopped driving. The second time, which was Friday, April 17, 2026 I was driving down a busy road and all lights started flashing, the big NO ASB brakes flashing and I had no brakes.
... It was terrifying. Thankfully I ended up going down a hill onto flat ground and was able to pull into a gas station and get stopped by the curb. I immediately turned off the car and called the dealership. This happens without any warning at all, just when I am driving. This car is completely UNSAFE and unreliable. I needed to drive 188 miles on Saturday and when I picked the car up from the dealership the service manager told me NOT to take it on the trip, after being told the updates were completed. The issue has not been reliably reproduced, but the vehicle has been taken to the dealership twice for the same concern. After the most recent visit, the service manager advised me not to drive the vehicle due to safety concerns, indicating the issue may still be present and unresolved. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized dealership on two separate occasions. It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer directly, police, or insurance representatives. No warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms appeared before either incident. The loss of braking occurred suddenly and without any advance indication. The failure involves the vehicle’s braking system and potentially the electrical/software systems. In addition to the braking issue, when the dealership connected a diagnostic device to the vehicle, it incorrectly registered the odometer reading as approximately 77,000 miles, while the actual mileage is approximately 4,801 miles. The failure involves the vehicle’s braking system and potentially the electrical/software systems. In addition to the braking issue,Read more

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning
... (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: dot.report Bulletins Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. I am available for any needs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel failed to display the speedometer, warning lights, engine oil gauge, and the fuel gauge as needed. The failure had caused the vehicle to run out of fuel several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic after being involved in a crash while the vehicle was parke

Vehicle started missing at around 2000 miles, also a check engine light came on. Took it to Rick Hendrick Jeep and they ended up replacing an oxygen sensor and telling me the Vehicle was not missing even though I have OBD reports showing the engine missing. At around 7000 miles I performed the second oil change on the vehicle, when inspecting the old oil filter I found larger particles of metal in
... it. I took the vehicle back to Rick Hendrick and the mechanic looked at the filter that was new (only 500 miles) and said he only found glitter. The mechanic said this is normal for break in. The pieces I see in the oil filter are larger and some look like lathe shavings. I have pictures of the metal particles. So I was given back the vehicle and told it's ok. I know it isn't ok with that amount of metal in the engine and am afraid it will leave me stranded on the highway.Read more

Back in July of 2025, my vehicle Abruptly Stopped and lost all power on the thruway. Vehicle was towed immediately to local dealership (emerling Jeep in springville ny ), where it then sat for almost 9 months awaiting a safety recall related to the PTU, as was confirmed by dealership. Fast forward to this year, early April 2026, I finally received vehicle back, and was informed a new PTU /software
... program update had been performed on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Upon driving my car off dealership lot, I noticed my inspection sticker had expired, and my vehicle wasn't operating at a normal pace. A constant thud, transmission delay was evident almost immediately. Attempting to finally try and get my vehicle back to its normal condition, I drove to a nearby Mechanic to try and get car inspected. Not even 30min after receiving vehicle back, it started to lose power again. I was luckily able to get to mechanic, and after close inspection of Vehicle, he informed me that my car wasn't safe to drive. The rear differential was now in jeopardy. Mechanic said the constant strain from bad PTU likely damaged my rear differential, and that it needed to get replaced. When I informed emerling of what transpired, they denied my recommendation to drop car back off too them. Haven't responded to several emails asking them to take car back. In my opinion, emerlings lack of care and the need to remove me as quick as possible caused more emotional distress, and I could have gotten into accident on thruway due to their negligence. The reason emerling never preformed inspection, in my opinion, was because they already knew it wouldn't pass, yet still allowed me to leave their lot. That's complete negligence on they're part, and I'm not seeking any type of tangible request. I Merely want the dealership to be held accountable so someone else doesnt go thru what I went thru. Vehicle is now at another dealership awaiting diagnosis, that will then be forwarded to Jeep/Mopar.Read more

On April 17th 2024 my vehicle received a recall update 68C regarding the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle battery. This caused a significant safety hazard as I was with my [XXX] child and the vehicle just completely lost power on the freeway. The vehicle is now at the dealership and they are giving me a very hard time saying that there is nothing wrong with it, but I have read that there have been many problems with this recall update. My 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk (Active Drive II / Sales Code DK4) has a confirmed DTC C14A7-97, indicating the PTU Motor is obstructed or blocked. This has resulted in a "Service 4WD" warning and a complete loss of all-wheel-drive capability. My vehicle was manufactured in November 2013, and I am being denied the XJ1 Extended Warranty (15 years/unlimited miles) because my VIN does not appear in t
... he dealer's system, despite the vehicle being a 2014 model year with the exact failure code the XJ1 program was designed to address. This failure can lead to a sudden loss of drive power while in motion and a loss of the "Park" function, creating a significant rollaway risk. These are the same safety hazards identified in NHTSA Recall 20V-343 (W47). I am requesting that NHTSA investigate why 2014 model year vehicles with 2013 build dates are excluded from the XJ1 warranty extension for this known safety defect.Read more

This vehicle is much too new to be having these kinds of issues and Gandrud even stated that many customers with JL Wranglers have been coming to them with the same issue of the head gasket failing. 1. Left bank head gasket leaking coolant into the combustion chamber causing misfires. Photos will be attached. 2. Shaking vehicle. Had vehicle towed. 3. Dealership inspected and identified the issue. Invoice attached. 4. Check engine light came on for just one day back in December of 2025, was brought into Gandrud and it was a misfire code, no noticeable issues at the time however and check engine light went away. Vehicle: 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Dealer: Larry H Miller Colorado Jeep, Aurora, CO DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: My 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S has exhibited recurring charging and electrical system failures since taking delivery. The vehicle is advertised by Jeep as supporting Level 3 (DC fast) charging, with an official specification of 5-80% charge in approximately 28 minutes. In practice, the vehicle has bee
... n unable to reliably charge on higher-power DC fast chargers, and has exhibited symptoms consistent with an electrical/charging system fault. This has been ongoing for several months since the car was obtained. SYMPTOMS OBSERVED: 1. Vehicle fails to charge properly when connected to higher-power (Level 3 / DC fast) chargers, producing charging error messages. 2. Vehicle intermittently will not turn on / power up until it is powered off and restarted. This is a no-start condition that has created stranding risk. 3. Vehicle infotainment screens intermittently fail to turn on. SERVICE HISTORY: Please see attached repair order. DEALER GUIDANCE: The dealership's engineering/service manager has verbally advised me not to use Level 3 / DC fast charging on this vehicle and stated they cannot guarantee Level 3 charging will work. SAFETY CONCERN: The intermittent no-start condition and unpredictable charging behavior create real-world safety risk, including the risk of being stranded without the ability to recharge adequately on longer trips where Level 2 charging (which takes multiple hours) is not practical. Level 2 charging at home requires approximately 6.8 hours for a 5-80% charge per Jeep’s own specifications; if Level 3 charging cannot be used, the vehicle’s practical usable range is significantly reduced.Read more

My front windshield has been replaced 2 times now due to significant cracks starting at the bottom seal of the windshield. These cracks were NOT due to rock chip, they started in the exact same spot both times creating the exact horseshoe type crack from the bottom and went stair to the top of the windshield. These cracks have continued to develop around the entire seal of the windshield including
... the bottom , sides and top of the glass. These cracks sever cracking is an extreme safety hazard, leaving very poor visibility. I have also witnessed 2 other jeeps in my small town with identical horseshoe cracking that started in the identical place mine did, both were the same year, make and model jeep. The windshields are horrendously expensive and I can’t afford to replace it again, this leaves me with extremely poor visibility making this very unsafe. Come on jeep recall the windshields, this is unfair and unsafe and this is making you responsible for potential accidents. I see a lot of lawsuits coming your way for negligence in taking responsibility for the rightful recall that needs to happen.Read more

Incident date: Apr 18, 2026
While driving approximately 35 MPH on a 4 lane major roadway, the vehicle suddenly shut off in motion, resulting in a complete loss of power. This included loss of power steering and the ABS system. The vehicle effectively locked up, and a message appeared on the display instructing me to place the vehicle in park. As a result of the shutdown, the vehicle lost all propulsion and came to a complete
... stop in an active travel lane of a high-speed roadway. There was no ability to maneuver the vehicle out of traffic. I could not steer it to safety, restart it, or shift it into neutral. The vehicle was fully immobilized in the roadway. This left me and my family stopped in an active lane of traffic, exposed to oncoming vehicles traveling at highway speeds, creating an immediate and serious risk of collision. At the time of the incident, I had two children in the vehicle. We remained in this dangerous position until police arrived and an hour after. The vehicle ultimately had to be removed from the roadway with assistance, as it was not operable. During the event, there was a total loss of electrical power. The critical safety systems, including brake lights, were not functioning during the shutdown. After attempting to reset the battery, the vehicle continued to malfunction. It would not properly turn on or off, wouldn't shift into neutral and remained unable to be moved. This is the third occurrence of this; once was while driving at highway speeds. All warning lights, including the battery light, were illuminated. The vehicle is subject to an active recall; however, I have been informed that there is currently no available remedy . Despite this, the dealership and Stellantis advised that the vehicle was safe to operate. Given the repeated loss of power while driving, the inability to move the vehicle out of an active roadway, and the absence of an available repair, this vehicle presents a serious safety risk and I should be able to turn this vehicle in with refund.Read more

While driving home from work on March 13, 2026, the alternator in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (3.0L EcoDiesel) failed, resulting in a progressive loss of electrical power. As battery voltage dropped, the vehicle entered “limp mode.” When I was aproximatly 1 mile from my home when I was forced to stop at a railroad crossing while a freight train was passing. At that time, due to low voltage, th
... e electronic shifter and ignition system became completely unresponsive. I was unable to shift the vehicle into Park or Neutral and was also unable to shut off the engine. The vehicle remained in Drive, requiring constant brake pressure to prevent forward movement. This created an immediate and dangerous situation, as I was stopped very close to a moving train with no functional means of securing or disabling the vehicle. Any loss of braking force or control could have caused the vehicle to enter the path of the train, creating a high likelihood of serious injury or death. After reaching my residence, the condition persisted. I remained unable to shift or shut down the vehicle and was forced to manually disconnect the negative battery cable, which is located under the passenger seat, in order to stop the engine. I am very lucky that I had a small metric socket set in the vehice, that I am somewhat mechanically enclined, and that I have long arms & legs, as this process was extremely difficult. I had to disconect te battery cable while maintaining my foot on the brake to avoid crashing into my garage. The vehicle appears to be designed such that engine shutdown is not permitted unless the vehicle is in Park, while the electronic shifter becomes inoperative during low-voltage conditions. This combination creates a hazardous failure mode in which the driver cannot place the vehicle in Park or turn off the engine during an electrical failure. This incident appears consistent with hazards identified in NHTSA Campaign Number 16V240000 (Recall S27). Despite records indicating that recRead more

... an endless run around. All we want is out of the lease and nobody will help. We can’t drive the car as it’s unsafe. Our dealer is trying to help and gave us a loaner car (of much less value) but we are paying a lease on a much higher cost car while driving a low value loaner, meanwhile Stelantis just ignores the request to be let out of the lease without paying the full lease value on turn in. That’s over $13,000 if we turn it in now. Stelantis says work with your dealer. The dealer says we can’t do anything until they come out with a fix. We just want out of the lease. These cars are unsafe, by their own admission, and should not be on the roadways.Read more
