I have a 2015 Toyota Prius with 48,600 miles. My breaks started failing suddenly while driving which almost got me into a car accident. I took it to my mechanic immediately and the DTC was Code C1281. I was advised to take the car to A Toyota dealer. I got an appointment and a manager was waiting for me wanting to charge me $250 for a new diagnostic test and $2,500 - $3,000 for repair if the diagn
... osis was correct. I called customer service and washed their hands from any responsibility. I called the Toyota's customer advocate service located in Plano, TX and was on the phone for more than an hour. They apologize, were very courteous, but I was told that I was not covered because I had call too late and that the repair offered by Toyota had expired. They acknowledged that Toyota never issued a recall for this manufacturer defect. I informed them that the discovery of the problem had occurred on [XXX], 10 years and 2 month after I bought the car from them and that the car was almost new with very little mileage. I let them know that felt this was a deceptive trade practice with breach of warranty and breach of implied warranty of merchantability, along with it being a fraudulent concealment with failure to warn their customers of potential danger and harm. I plea with the Toyota's advocate that since the statute of limitation and equitable tolling had not elapsed from the day of discovery that they should honor my request for it being just. I was told that Toyota's decision on the Prius brake defect was not covered and that I was free to take my car to a Toyota dealer or an independent mechanic, whatever was more convenient and/or affordable and that the cost was on me. I asked if I were to get a new Toyota car and trade in my old car if they would appraise it as if the defective brake part had not malfunctioned. The answer was that the value of my car if traded in, would be significantly less due this issue. He gave me a Ref # [XXX] and hanged up. On Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at approximately 6:51pm while driving my 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S the vehicle lurched forward suddenly while coming to a stop (below 5mph at the time of the lurch). Following that, multiple service lights illuminated on the dash including a large red turtle with a message that "Vehicle power may be diminished". When I went to accelerate from the stop the vehicle was slu

This lurching during deceleration followed by unintended acceleration repeated itself several times while attempting to get the vehicle back to the dealership (I was less than a mile from my local Jeep dealer when this occurred). I have video of the vehicle behaving this way, and provided that video to the service department at Lithia Chrysler Jeep of Reno. I have also reached out to Stellantis directly who informed me that in spite of this, and multiple other serious problems with this vehicle they will not assist me with a re-purchase and are going to force me to pursue resolution via Nevada State Lemon Law.Read more

Despite following Ford’s instructions step-by-step and investing hours into multiple calls with the Customer Service Division, we were given the runaround and ultimately denied assistance, even though: •This is a known defect with the Cam Phaser, CSP issued for our vehicle. •We attempted to have the repair performed within the CSP period but were delayed due to pandemic-related part shortage
... s and poor dealership follow-up. •Our warranty expired less than 30 days before diagnosis. Our documented timeline: •July 25, 2022 – Brought truck to Courtesy Ford for PCM reprogram under 21N03; told parts were backordered due to pandemic. After a week, we had to reclaim the truck for work needs. Service was poor, with no follow-up. •November 2022 – Returned truck; again no resolution or follow-up. •January 1, 2023 – Ford extended CSP under 21B10; still no symptoms at this time. •May 28, 2025 – Private shop diagnosed Cam Phaser failure; quoted ~$5,000. •August 2025 – Chose Canby Ford for better service; diagnosis confirmed repair needed at $5,225.18. The three calls to Ford Customer Service: 1.Call 1 – Opened initial case, told to bring truck for cold start diagnosis. 2.Call 2 – After delivering truck, spent an hour on hold and “updating” records; told CSP couldn’t be located and to call back after diagnosis. 3.Call 3 – After diagnosis, finally told we were ineligible because warranty expired less than 30 days prior; agent and supervisor claimed they could not override the system. At no point during the first two calls did anyone verify our eligibility or warn that warranty expiration would block assistance — meaning we invested significant time, followed Ford’s instructions, and left our truck on a service lot, only to be told we never qualified in the first place. This is an unacceptable breakdown in process and communication.Read more

On or about May 1, 2025, I was operating my 2013 Hyundai Veloster when flames were observed emanating from under the hood. I immediately pulled into the median and, upon opening the hood, observed an active fire beneath the plastic engine cover. I contacted 911. Before the fire department arrived, a passerby extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher. Firefighters from a nearby station arriv
... ed shortly thereafter and fully doused the engine compartment. The vehicle was subsequently towed to a Hyundai dealership. At that time, I was aware of an active recall related to potential brake line issues that could result in an engine compartment fire. After the vehicle remained at the dealership for an extended period, I was informed that Hyundai Motor America (“HMA”) would send an inspector. Approximately 30 days later, I was contacted by HMA’s corporate office and asked to provide documentation, including a copy of the title and insurance information. During this call, I was advised that while repair or replacement of the vehicle was unlikely, HMA would “make me whole.” Shortly thereafter, I received written correspondence from HMA stating that, following its review of the inspection results, documents, and other information, no product defect was identified as the cause of the incident. The letter concluded that HMA would not accept responsibility and denied my request for assistance or compensation.Read more

NOTE: The VIN shows as a 4x2 Sprinter, but this vehicle is a 4x4. While driving, the engine suddenly caught fire. Within one minute, flames approximately 10 feet high were coming from the motor. This is the second Winnebago Ekko reported to catch fire in such a dramatic way. One fire extinguisher was not enough to put out the blaze. The fire was extremely intense and caused catastrophic damage.
... The vehicle is currently at Mercedes awaiting inspection. However, more than three weeks have passed and the inspection has not yet been scheduled. Mercedes will not allow anyone else to examine the vehicle, and they have not responded to my emails. I am requesting an independent inspection, as I am concerned Mercedes may seek to avoid accepting liability. Can anyone help with that? I am not sure what to do.Read more

Driving along the highway in cruise control at about 70mph without any trailer being pulled. Suddenly I got brake errors. ABS, ESC, Trailer brake error failures all popped on the dash warnings. Brakes were unresponsive only applying hard pressure to the brake pedal was effective. There was zero feedback from the brake pedal to myself on it engaging and braking effectively. If this happened in a si

I see that similar issues have been reported on Facebook "Chevy Tahoe Owners Group". Unknown whether it's a sensors glitch or a SW issue. After a few hours of being parked the car brake system started to work properly again. Made an appointment to check out they system at the dealership.Read more
