After an over-the-air update of the Uconnect system on 10/10/25 the vehicle repeatedly lost propulsion. In each instance I abruptly had absolutely no acceleration, the gear indicator on the dash started flashing, the power mode indicator (electric/hybrid/esave) disappeared, an alert said shift into park and press the brake + start button, and the check engine light and red wrench lights came on.
... I was still able to steer and brake with power steering and brakes for maybe 30 seconds before those went out too. After putting it into park and pressing the brake and start button it started back up and I could drive it normally for a little bit, but it happened two more times on a 1.5 mi drive. This is a serious safety issue. I read the check engine code which was P1E1DRead more

I was using the full self driving feature of the vehicle. At an unusual intersection, there was a flashing do not turn right light because of a train. The car turned right ignoring the do not turn sign And headed for the railroad tracks. I had to slam on the brakes because the car was not going to stop. If a driver is not paying attention they will die. I have video of the whole thing.

While driving in the carpool lane, the engine briefly cut-out and than a rattling sound was heard. We decided to immediately exist the free way at a left-side car pool exit as a precaution. Immediately after exiting, the car went into a complete stall. Had we remained on the freeway, we would have been stranded in the fastest lane with no shoulder and with traffic approaching from the rear at 7
... 0mph. Thus we likely avoided catastrophe. There was no warning light. The problems was later determined to be caused by a manufacturer defect resulting in a connecting rod bearing failure. Pursuant to a class action settlement the engine was replaced. I'm writing to let others know that this is a potentially life-threatening danger and that the knock sensor recall does not adequately address this. Also, the dealer mischaracterized the symptoms on the engine warranty invoice, misstating the narrative above, wrongly stating "customer states CEL started flashing when driving after light appeared vehicle would not accelerate properly or start." This quote is untrue. There was no warning, and the car stalled.Read more

My 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, with just 72,000 miles, experienced a sudden and catastrophic transmission failure caused by a faulty transmission line clamp that broke, resulting in a rapid loss of transmission fluid while I was driving. I was able to pull over to safety, but was on the interstate going 75mph when my speed and vehicle power rapidly reduced. The vehicles around me were able to rapidl

This unexpected failure destroyed the transmission and left me stranded. A side note (records are attached), the vehicle had been maintained at a Chevrolet dealership in accordance with all of their servicing timelines.Read more

During driving, the transmission began hesitating when shifting from 4th to 5th gear. Then in stop and go traffic, it would shift hard from 1st gear to the point my head would slam into the headrest. I would then get a notice on the dashboard of a power train failure. Once I turned the vehicle off, the notice would disappear and the vehicle would begin to shift normally for a while, before the har

I brought the truck into 2 different ford dealerships and they both said it needed a new transmissison. There is 123,00 miles on this 2019 Ford F150. I had also related to the dealerships that there was a rattle when starting the vehicle and they said it is due to the cam shifters or more and a complete engine tear down was recommended. At the same time, the electronic screen would sometimes freeze, turn off when driving or not turn on initally. The dealerships said this needed to be replaced. The estimates for repair were from $16,461 to $13,686.Read more

The torque converter has a shutter and has had a shutter since the day I bought it. All they want to do is flush the transmission fluid they didn't want to change the torque converter or whatever it's causing the shutter when it was under warranty. I am writing to bring attention to what I believe is a serious and ongoing issue related to the design of my vehicle’s transmission system. I recently contacted Ford Motor Corp. regarding this matter and was assigned a case number; however, the case was open and closed within a 5-minute conversation. I was informed that there are currently no known issues or recalls related to the transmission i
... n my vehicle. Despite this, there is a problem I continue to experience recurring transmission problems that raise significant safety concerns while operating the vehicle at various speeds. Erratic and unreliable shifting, the transmission often feels like it is “floating” between gears, shifting abruptly, or sometimes not shifting at all. Slipping gear, there are frequent instances many of which I would consider close calls where the transmission slips during acceleration, causing a sudden and unexpected loss of power. These issues make it extremely unsafe to perform routine driving maneuvers such as pulling out from a stop sign into moving highway traffic, crossing busy intersections, merging onto highways, or responding quickly to changing traffic conditions. The inconsistent vehicle response under normal driving conditions puts not only my family, but others on the road, at significant risk. Based on my own experience and further research, I am concerned that this may be a broader, well-documented issue that has not been adequately addressed by the manufacturer. The ford dealerships are aware of this problem and are so inundated that the current dealership cannot even see my vehicle for over a month and i am told have parts delay due to the repair demand. Given the nature and potential danger of these transmission problems, I respectfully urge a thorough investigation into this matter. Thank you for your attention to this serious concern.Read more

We’ve experienced multiple ongoing issues with this vehicle, and the dealership’s only suggestion so far has been to file a lemon law claim. Last month, the car began jerking excessively while driving typically at speeds between 35–45 mph. The best way to describe it is that it feels as though all the wheels lock up at once, causing a loud tire-screeching noise. It was a frightening experie
... nce. The dealership claimed to have resolved the issue with a “software update.” However, just last night, my wife was stranded on the highway when the car suddenly started shutting down mid-drive, similar to what happens when a vehicle runs out of gas. The maximum speed she could reach was about 20 mph, and the check engine light came on. She switched from hybrid mode to eSave (gas-only mode), which allowed her to get home safely. This morning, she tested it again. The check engine light was initially off, but after a short drive, it came back on and the vehicle started shutting down again. This Jeep is a lease, and despite being in the shop five times three of those for a full week the dealership continues to “service” it without providing a real solution. We are extremely concerned about the vehicle’s safety and reliability at this point.Read more

Since October 2023, my 2019 Toyota Prius has developed severe and unpredictable driving behavior after a regular brake service, which may have triggered or coincided with a software or ECU update. The car, which had been driving smoothly since I bought it in 2021, suddenly began showing false braking, steering interference, and lane instability — as if the car were trying to “correct” proble
... ms that didn’t exist. These interventions often happen on highways or during turns, creating serious safety risks for both driver and passengers. I’ve spent months and thousands of dollars replacing parts, performing alignments, and recalibrating sensors, including at Toyota dealerships. The problem persists because it is software-based, not mechanical. I discovered that in mid–2023, the NHTSA announced upcoming rules requiring Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection by 2029. Around that same time, reports from multiple drivers (Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Ford, Subaru) began to appear describing the exact same issues. It seems manufacturers began silently updating vehicles to meet anticipated compliance standards. However, this introduced overly sensitive and malfunctioning driver-assist systems. The most alarming part is that the driver cannot fully disable these features — the “off” button only reduces their intervention. This means when the system malfunctions, the driver is forced to operate an unsafe vehicle. As a professional rideshare driver, this problem destroyed my ability to work. Passengers reported me for unsafe driving because of the car’s erratic behavior. I eventually lost my vehicle and income. I believe this is a systemic safety defect linked to premature or unregulated implementation of AEB software. Drivers deserve the right to fully disable malfunctioning systems that endanger lives. This is not just a car issue — it’s a public safety crisis that must be urgently investigated.Read more

The following is a list of persistent electrical failures in my vehicle, several of which present a significant safety risk. I have attempted to resolve the issues: •Emergency OnStar Button Failure: My vehicle's emergency OnStar buttons consistently fail to function when the ignition is off. This is a critical safety defect, as the system is designed to work on a backup battery during an emerge
... ncy, such as a crash. The system only operates when the ignition is on. • Excessive and Dangerous Floor Hump Heat: Following a service visit on October 2, 2025, the front floor hump became excessively hot, melting personal items and posing a fire and burn risk. •Fabricated Safety Warnings: The vehicle's computer system repeatedly displays false and misleading messages. Examples include an incorrect "new brake pads detected" prompt and a "taking your eyes off the road" warning that does not apply to this vehicle. These phantom messages are distracting and can cause driver confusion. •Persistent Connectivity Failures: The vehicle experiences frequent and consistent failures with its Wi-Fi and GPS systems, indicating a potential electrical or software malfunction. Numerous resets attempted by the manufacturer's technical support have not resolved the issue. • Computer Display Anomaly: the Chevrolet symbol appeared in red on the computer screen when the truck was started. The vehicle has repeatedly experienced spontaneous changes to the radio station and the air conditioning switching from cold to hot without driver input. •Unusual Decompressing Sound: When the vehicle has been sitting for an extended period, an unusual decompressing sound can be heard coming from the rear underside whenever a door is opened.
