Hearing a humming noise but when locked in 4wd lock it goes away. This is the clutch plates in the rear differential chattering and binding up. Over time this will wear bearings and gear out which in turn will lock up the rear differential causing a accident by loss of control. Jeep covered this problem up by a software update to the computer. All this does is change the behavior of the system as
... a whole not fix the problem. They need to recall it and change the rear differential and fix the clutch plate dragging that is causing all these issuesRead more

Incident date: May 4, 2026
I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety-related failure involving my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. I purchased the vehicle used with approximately 15,000 miles and was informed the previous owners leased it and rarely used it. At approximately 40,000 miles, despite completing all recalls in a timely manner, the vehicle experienced the exact type of hybrid system failure a recall
... was intended to prevent. The issue began when the hybrid system failed and left the vehicle unsafe to operate. Upon startup, only accessory power activated and the engine would not start. A full power cycle was required before the vehicle started. Immediately afterward, warnings appeared including "Service Hybrid System," "Service Charging System," "EAB Unavailable," "Lane Keep Assist Unavailable," "Pedestrian Braking Unavailable," and "Adaptive Cruise Control Unavailable." The check engine light illuminated and all hybrid modes became unavailable. Shifting became erratic and harsh. Downshifts from 2nd to 1st felt like sudden braking and caused me to hit my head on the steering wheel. During acceleration, the transmission slipped and shifted unpredictably. Fuel economy dropped from approximately 22 MPG in E-Save mode to approximately 10 MPG at highway speeds. Diagnostic code P1E1D was retrieved and I was advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive. While driving to the dealership, the vehicle shut down twice while in motion. During both shutdowns, power steering and braking assistance were lost, posing an extreme risk to myself and others while moving the vehicle off a busy three-lane roadway. Dealership diagnostics determined one or both high-voltage battery systems failed and required replacement. Despite completed recalls, the issue still occurred. Parts were backordered over a month. I believe this failure and recall effectiveness warrant investigation due to the serious safety risks created by loss of propulsion, steering, and braking assistance while driving.Read more

The headlights and interior lighting flickers when turned on. The vehicle often will not start, but once hooked up to a jumper pack starts immediately despite the batteries being inspected previously and being okay. The start/stop function doesn't always work, and the engine stalls while driving, causing a massive safety issue.

When I bought the car 4/9/2026 I was told there was a recall. I called 2 weeks later to morrow cdj in morrow,ga. They said it would be over a month before I could get a loaner for the mean time. I couldn’t do that. I wouldn’t be able to get to home or take care of my daughter. I asked to be notified when there was a loaner available. 5/14/2026. I was driving with my daughter to the store and I
... completely loose power in the car. I could barely pull over to the side. AAA couldn’t charge the battery. I called the local jeep dealership. They wouldn’t help tow it to the dealership. They also had no loaners for over a month. And are taking their sweet time even looking at my car. After completely losing power in on going traffic that could have been catostrophic I’m angry. I called customer care for stellantis and they told me I could get my own rental and then submit for a possible reimbursement later but they will not get me a car. I’ve had this car for 5 weeks and now god knows how long I will not have a car. I can’t afford to pay a car note for over 500$ a month and a rental car. I don’t have a second car. Jeep knows this car is unsafe are not doing anything to assure the safety of its consumers. Nor are they trying to make it right. In the right place we could have been in an ugly accident because jeep isnt trying to fix these cars. Am I only entitled to fair treatment if we were not so lucky?Read more

Recently, my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe was affected by the 68C Fire Safety recall where the Jeep was stuck at the dealership for battery replacement for 6 weeks. You may rent through a licensed and legitimate company—such as Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, or Budget—at a daily rate of $60 per day, based on the local rates in your area. Sales tax is included in this amount. Please note that optional services—including insurance, fuel, tolls, GPS, tips, and underage driver fees—are not reimbursable through Jeep Customer Care. Rental reimbursement applies only to warranty-related repairs and covers the time your vehicle is at the dealership, unless special arrangements have been approved. To process your reimbursement, please reply to this email with the following documents: Once we receive these documents, we’ll begin processing your reimbursement right away. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out—I’m happy to help. " Jeep is now refusing the reimburse the non-optional charges saying that they only reimburse Time and Mileage and Taxes. Here are the required charges that Jeep is refusing to reimburse (Total of $337.71): Road Safety Fee (Colorado Mandatory): $229.62 (Total for both periods) Avis Mandatory Fees (FTP SR, License Recoup, Energy): $96.09 Extension Fee (Due to Repair Duration): $12.00 I spoke with the Customer Care multiple times that these are mandatory fees and as per their original email to me, they are supposed to only exclude optional fees from reimbursement. After that, the vehicle was in the shop for 2 weeks without a clear diagnosis before the tech reached out and told me the car was “inoperable”. After communicating with the engineers and getting support from management, the car was still inoperable for over 2 months. At that point the tech asked me to contact Chrysler to file a claim to help him make sure it kept moving. (Please note that I found this bizarre and I hope any reasonable person in a similar situation would as well. 😨) A few days later, they told me the car was ready for me to pick up! I do not have a technical background and do not fully understand the issue, but the tech told me there was an issue with the vehicle sensor software which clashed with the recall and caused the vehicle to stop responding. As a fix, they uninstalled the sensor software and then reinstalled it after the recall update. Any future software update may cause the vehicle to crash and considering there is a third recall on this issue so far with out a proper fix, it is highly probably that there will be subsequent recalls/updates which will crash the car. At that time, I will have no recourse.Read more

I purchased my 2015 Jeep Wrangler approximately a year and a half ago. At the time of purchase, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard. The dealership told me these lights were caused by a simple sensor issue that was on backorder and would be resolved later. About two weeks ago, while driving, my Jeep suddenly went into limp mode. I had two independ
... ent mechanics inspect the vehicle, and both confirmed that the diagnostic codes pointed to a failed ABS Module. I then contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. They acknowledged that the ABS Module is still on backorder but claimed they did not believe the module was the issue, despite the diagnostic results from two separate mechanics. The ABS Module has now completely failed, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. The ABS, Traction Control, and Brake systems are not functioning, and the Jeep cannot be operated normally. I am unable to drive my vehicle due to this safety‑critical failure. This appears to be a widespread issue with ABS Modules on this model year, and replacement parts are unavailable. I am submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate whether this ABS Module failure represents a broader safety defect that requires action.Read more

... crusie control acts as if there is no car in front of me in the lane and will begin to accelerate until I engage the brake. So for example I'm traveling in the far right lane of a four lane road, two going north and two going south. I have my adaptive crusie control on and set to 50 MPH and the distance set to 4 car lengths (max) and then the car in front of me starts to slw down. The adaptive crusie control will adjust and start to slow down as well. So I decide to get into the next lane over to my left, where there also happens to be another car 1 or 2 car lengths in front of me, the adaptive crusie control will not detect that car after lane change and will begin to accelerate back up to 50 MPH when it should still be slowing down to avoid a collision. Adaptive Cruise Control & Phantom Braking: On multiple occasions while traveling at highway speeds (approx. 70 mph), the vehicle has engaged in aggressive "phantom braking." Despite clear road conditions and no vehicles or obstacles in the vehicle's path, the system suddenly slams on the brakes, dropping the speed to 50–55 mph. This creates an immediate risk of a high-speed rear-end collision. T
... he instrument cluster frequently displays service warnings for the FCW, ABS, BLIS and the lane departure systems. Transmission & Powertrain Hesitation: At lower speeds, the transmission exhibits significant hesitation and "sputtering." When attempting to accelerate from a low speed or a stop, the vehicle falters and fails to engage smoothly until significant additional throttle is applied. This erratic power delivery causes the vehicle to lurch, which is particularly dangerous when merging into traffic or turning across lanes, as the vehicle does not respond predictably to driver input. Manufacturer/Dealer Response: I presented these safety concerns to a local Jeep dealership, suggesting a software glitch or sensor malfunction. Despite the vehicle being well within the factory warranty period, the dealership refused to perform diagnostic work or updates under warranty, stating I would be responsible for labor costs because the cause could be "numerous things."Read more

My car has put itself into park and shut completely off three times in the last week while driving. The cruise control shut off while driving on the interstate. There was a message pop up twice saying service electronic throttle system. I don’t feel safe driving my jeep wagoneer at all, let alone with my three children. The first time it shut off I was in the middle of a busy intersection with m

I am writing to escalate a safety and reimbursement concern regarding my 2018 Jeep Cherokee, VIN [Your VIN], which is subject to recall 01C / 25V‑011 (Power Transfer Unit Snap Ring Defect). Before the recall remedy was available, my vehicle experienced a sudden loss of drive power, grinding, and jerking, which led to a full transmission replacement. I was stranded on the side of an interstate ra
... mp as a result of this loss of drive power. The PTU was not replaced and remains original. I now intermittently receive a “4WD won’t work” alert 65-80% of vehicle starts. I attempted to schedule my vehicle for the recall repair and spoke in length with the Jeep dealership in [XXX] on 2/23/26. The dealership has informed me that PTU replacement parts are unavailable and could take months to arrive. If the dealership detects a concern during inspection, they will not allow me to keep the vehicle, yet they cannot provide a loaner. This leaves me without transportation for an indefinite period, despite the recall being an active safety concern. It is important to note that the PTU is directly connected to the transmission and transfers power to the rear wheels; a PTU failure can place stress on or impair the transmission, which can cause symptoms identical to sudden transmission failure. I request escalation to a senior case manager or Tier 2 Top Car Specialist, review of my prior repair for reimbursement, and documentation of the ongoing 4WD alerts to support safety and claim review. Attachments: repair receipt. Thank you for your time, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

In January of 2026 the vehicle had a 4WD system unavailable/ Service required message pop up. It would come on and go back off. At the time there was also a whining/ grinding noise present especially at high speeds on the highway along with vibrations. We had the vehicle checked with. Code reader and was told it was sending a false code, and that a fuse probably needed replaced for it to go off. T
... he whining and grinding we thought could be wheel bearings or breaks. Both have been replaced and still have all of the same symptoms. The 4WD service light goes off but comes back on and stays on anytime a bump in the road is hit.Read more
