PARASITIC BATTERY DRAIN DEFECT complaint: prior to 07/16/2024, I received a "low voltage" error on my Toyota RAV4 screen a few times. On 07/16/2024, I took it to the dealership. My battery tested "good" and the Toyota dealership charged me 39.95 to tell me that everything was working well on my vehicle. The very next day (24 hours later), 07/17/2024, my vehicle would not start and had to be towed
... to the dealership. The tow truck driver told me the battery was "dead" (based on his measurement) and leaking acid (based on a smell). Toyota charged me 272.52 to replace the battery on 07/18, that was supposedly "good" two days prior. This is a known issue to Toyota, part of a class action lawsuit referred to as "Parasitic Battery Drain Defect." This is dangerous since I was stranded with a car that would not start in a summer day of high heat, but could have been much worse in other circumstances. The tow truck driver told me that the battery acid could be dangerous. Toyota should be providing a fix and a recall, but they had no solution for me other than a new battery which is a "quick fix" (but not a real solution) as described in the Class Action lawsuit documents.Read more

Since I purchased this vehicle new, there have been several persistent, and dangerous problems. I have repeatedly reported these to my local dealership, Larry Miller VW, in Lakewood, Colorado, and they have effectively ignored me. The second problem is that the radio malfunctions in all manner of distracting and dangerous ways. The radio sometimes shuts off without warning and cannot be turned back on. Sometimes the sound remains "on" but the screen goes "black" so that you cannot read a map or make a selection from the control menu. Sometimes the radio alarms that the driver is about to hit an object in front or in back of the vehicle, when there is no object anywhere around. This is very dangerous because the alarm is loud and the brakes are applied if the car believes an object is near. I have videos of these problems occurring. The new Tesla 3 Highland has eliminated the driving wheel stalks and in order to signal a turn, one has to press on one of two side-by-side areas of the steering wheel. After many years of pushing the stalks to indicate a turn, it's not easy to determine which part of the wheel to press to signal a turn or lane change. This car doesn’t come with a spare tire. Lots of new cars don’t have them. This is a major safety hazard. It should be illegal to sell cars without them. Not only does the little kit they give you work with a puncture but the remedy ruins the tire so it can’t be repaired. All car manufacturers should be required to have a spare tire.

The safety concern is that the vehicle should not move with the brake pedal pressed and this issue is allowing the vehicle to move. the brakes have to be pumped several times to get them to work when the issue arises. vehicle is currently back at the dealer since 3/28/24 trying to replicate the issue to resolve since no DTC's are coming up.Read more

Drove it one day and it was fine, then next day I went on my lunch break and it lost power, I pull in a parking lot put it park then tried to pull it in reverse and it would only go into neutral. After a couple times it have went into reverse but found out the transmission has to be replaced. Only 110,000 miles.

GMC has a problem with the electronic brake controller on their 2024 Sierra 2500HD and 3500Hd trucks. All trailers are required to have trailer brakes. In addition the trailer must be equipped with an auxillary battery to activate the emergency breakaway brakes. ... display. When this happens there are no brakes on the trailer. This fault happens intermittantly and can last between 10 seconds to 30 seconds. We constantly have this problem with our vehicle. On two occasions we were in an emergency situation towing a12,500 lb load and had no brakes. This is A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN. The GMC dealer stated that the problem is because our trailer uses a regular car battery to work the hydraulics and the brakes. They stated that the controller pings the trailer to see is anything is connected and that the car battery can interfear with this signal. When this signal does not return the controller senses that no trailer is connected and disables the trailer brakes. The trailer that we have is new and it is wired according to industry standards. Thre are thousands of trailers on the road that have this configuratiion. We have inspected the trailer and cannot find wiring problems. We have towed the same tyrailer with two different trucks and do not have this problem. A quick search on the internet will reveal that many other people are experiencing the same problem.Read more
