A ROD WAS THROWN THROUGH THE BLOCK, AND 2 PISTONS WERE DESTROYED. IT COST ABOUT $6000, WHICH THE WARRANTY COMPANY ONLY PAID HALF. I TOOK CARE OF THIS RE-CALL, EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT HAVING ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT SINCE I HAD RECEIVED THE PAPER WORK ON THIS, I DID THE RESPONSIBLE THING AND HAD IT TAKEN CARE OF. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 1 MONTH EARLIER AND HAD THE OIL CHANGED/FILLED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PURCHASE. I HAD DRIVEN IT LESS THAN 2000 MILES. PLUS, THE ISUZU TROOPER OWNERS MANUAL CLEARLY STATES OIL SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY 7,500, EXCEPT UNDER EXTREME DRIVING CONDITIONS. MY TROOPER WAS NEVER DRIVEN IN EXTREME CONDITIONS. AFTER A WEEK OR SO, THE SERVICE MANAGER OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE COST OF A NEW ENGINE ($7,400 TOTAL COST OF NEW ENGINE). I TOLD HIM THAT I AM NOT ACCEPTING THIS OFFER, BECAUSE I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD, OR WHO ARE HAVING, THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED DECEMBER 05. THEY SAID THEY AGREE TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE COST OF AN ENGINE. ENGINE AND LABOR WOULD COST $7,400, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $3,200. I TOLD THEM THIS WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH SINCE I KEPT EXCELLENT CARE OF THE TRUCK AND CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 4,000 - 4,500 MILES. I THEN CALLED ISUZU CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING, AND WERE VERY RUDE AND UNINTERESTED IN WHAT I HAD TO SAY. I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE TROOPER, AND ASKED THEM ABOUT THE VEHICLE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY REPLACE PARTS AND MAKE REPAIRS FOR CUSTOMERS ALL THE TIME, EVEN IF THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED OUT OF "GOOD FAITH". THEY SAID THAT IT KEEPS THE CUSTOMERS HAPPY AND KEEPS THEM RETURNING. THIS IS WHAT I HAD ASKED ISUZU TO DO, BUT AS STATED EARLIER, THEY REALLY HAD NO CONCERN FOR MY PROBLEM. I AM FINDING MANY OTHERS ON THE WEB THAT HAVE HAD, OR WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR RODEO'S OR TROOPERS. TOO MANY IN FACT, THAT I AM ALMOST CERTAIN THIS HAS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. MY 2001 ISUZU RODEO HAS DIED ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE. I AM FORTUNATE AND BLESSED NOT TO HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED. ON MY 1999 RODEO THE OIL DISAPPEARS IT WILL GO FOR LITTLE WHILE THEN NO OIL REGISTER ON STICK IT IS NOT BURNING OIL AND CAN'T FIND ANY LEAKS. I KNOW THIS IS PROBLEM IN MANY OF THESE . IT ALSO SEEMS AT TIMES THAT SOMETHING IS DRAGGING IN THE ENGINE AREA LIKE FAN OR SOMETHING. *JB

DEC. 26, 2005 MY HUSBAND WENT TO WORK AT 3:00PM IN THE AFTERNOON. ON DEC 27,2005 HE CAME HOME AT 3:30 AM IN THE MORNING, HE GOT IN THE SHOWER AND WHEN HE GOT OUT OUR DOG STARTED TO BARK, SO HE LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHEN HE HEARD A POP. SO HE LOOKED AGAIN AND FLAMES STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE PASSENGER FRONT FENDER. HE YELLED, I RAN OUT THERE AND HE WAS USING THE HOSE I CALLED 911
... AND WE WERE TRYING TO POP THE HOOD FINALLY RIGHT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT GOT HERE MY HUSBAND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE FIREMEN OPENED THE HOOD AND THEN THEY OPENED THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THEN ANOTHER FIRE STARTED IN THE DRIVERS FLOORBOARD COMING THROUGHOUT THE FIREWALL. THEY PUT THAT OUT. THEY ASKED IF WE WERE DRIVING IT BUT IT HAD BEEN TURNED OFF FOR AT LEAST 30 TO 40 MINUTES. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED NEXT TO OUR HOUSE UNDER A CAR PORT WITH BOTH OF OUR KIDS IN THE HOUSE AND AT WITH CARS IN FRONT OF IT. THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING SO GOOD DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. I READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT'S SIMILAR WHICH IS 94V132000 BUT ISUZU SAID IT WASN'T THE SAME SO IT WAS MY PROBLEM. WE ONLY HAVE LIABILITY INSURANCE. 1998 ISUZU RODEO USED 5 LITERS OF OIL IN 4000 KMS AND SEIZED UP WITH OUT WARNING ON 30 DEC 05. THE OIL LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON ISUZU DEALERS SAID IT WON'T COME ON UNTIL VEHICLE IS OUT OF OIL. SO WHY PUT SENSORS ON THE TRUCK.
