I own a 2019 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition . 2.0L 1999CC L4. A few weeks ago we started with really cold/snowy weather and as I’m driving I’ve noticed weird knocking sound that sounds like a Ford F250 starting up. Today while stopped in traffic with the vehicle idling, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra cut off into the battery mode as if I just have my car running off of my battery (ex: roll windows u
... p) and all of the lights on the dash board on. I put my car on the break to turn my car off and it went back into drive mode, it didn’t shut off. I tried accelerating my car went no where, within a few minutes it did it multiple times. I called the local dealer and was informed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. I let Hyundai Webb aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 197,000.Read more

My 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Limited (6.2L L87) had an engine recall performed by an authorized GMC dealer (Paul Masse Buick GMC) in November 2025. Prior to the recall service, the vehicle had no check-engine lights, no drivability issues, and no knock-related symptoms. Immediately after picking up the vehicle from the recall service, the check-engine light illuminated within seconds of leaving the d
... ealership parking lot. I returned the vehicle immediately. The dealer diagnosed a failed knock sensor and replaced it at my expense. There were no prior warning signs or symptoms before the recall visit. General Motors declined responsibility, classifying the issue as an out-of-warranty repair and confirming only that the recall procedure was followed. GM did not evaluate whether dealer handling, component disturbance, or recall-related activity contributed to the immediate failure. I am submitting this complaint because the failure occurred directly after recall service, suggesting a possible recall-adjacent issue or unintended consequence of recall procedures, and because GM declined to investigate causation beyond procedural compliance.Read more

I am submitting this to supplement NHTSA Complaint No. 11704996 regarding a 2024 INFINITI QX60. Current mileage approx. 31,500. No injuries. Crash/Incident (property damage only): Within the first 2 months of ownership, while backing into a parking space at a grocery store parking lot, the Parking Collision Warning did not alert and Automatic Emergency Braking did not activate. I struck a shopping
... cart I did not see, causing minor damage/dent to the liftgate (no injuries). Additional ADAS safety concern (near-miss / repeated events): During the first year of ownership, on at least two occasions while using Intelligent Cruise Control / driver assist (steering assist) on a highway, when the vehicle ahead braked, my vehicle did not slow down or brake as expected and continued approaching at the prior speed. I had to brake immediately and steer to avoid a collision. No crash or injuries occurred. Similar instances have occurred additional times; however, I was monitoring the system and manually braked in time when it did not slow/stop from a safe following distance. I am concerned about intermittent non-response of these driver-assist braking functions. Ongoing safety-related issues since about the 6th month of the first year: 1) Windshield washer system leak/empty reservoir (reduced visibility). Concern began after prior dealer visit on 06/03–06/04/2025 for panoramic sunroof noise. 2) Rear driver-side window intermittently lowers by itself (electrical). 3) Side mirror intermittently fails to unfold/open (visibility). 4) Water intrusion into cabin from top of front passenger door area during rain/car washes (photos available), raising concern for electrical/safe operation. 5) Panoramic sunroof creaking noise (distraction). Request NHTSA document and evaluate for potential defect trend.Read more

FORMAL COMPLAINT: CONSUMER FRAUD & SAFETY VIOLATION Dealership: Germain Toyota West (Columbus, OH) Case Reference: #[XXX] To the Consumer Protection Division: I am filing a formal complaint regarding Theft by Deception, Gross Negligence, and Reckless Endangerment by this dealership. 1. THEFT & BILLING FRAUD On Oct 24, 2025, the dealership charged me $455.00 for labor to install rear sway
... bar links. I provided my own parts. The technician (Maciah Houpe) failed to install the parts but still charged me. He later admitted via text message: "I did not do your rear links... you didn't pay for rear links." The dealership has refused to refund this money despite the written confession. 2. PROPERTY DESTRUCTION During the attempted repair, the technician used excessive force and bent the vehicle's "wheel rod" (Tie Rod), destroying the steering geometry. The technician later admitted to a witness that he was fired for "bending the wheel rod" on my vehicle. 3. RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT (SAFETY VIOLATION) The dealership released the vehicle to my family on Oct 26, representing it as "safe." After a near-miss incident on [XXX] where the steering failed at highway speeds, Management admitted to my wife that they knew the vehicle "might be lucky to make it to the North Side" before failing. They knowingly released a vehicle with a critical safety defect onto a public highway. 4. RETALIATION When I contacted Toyota Corporate to complain, the technician texted me: "You blew up the spot coming through Toyota... they can't help you." The dealership then revoked a "cure offer" (towing/rental) purely as retaliation for my consumer complaint. ATTACHED EVIDENCE: Please see the attached "Master Case Brief" and "Exhibit A" (PDFs). These contain the full legal timeline and the Text Message Logs where the employee confesses to the theft and damage. I have served the dealership a Notice of Intent to Sue. Supplemental Update – Manufacturer Response to Safety Complaint (BMW) I am submitting this supplemental update in connection with my existing NHTSA safety complaint regarding my BMW vehicle. Following my report that the vehicle continued operating without the key present while transporting minor children, BMW of North America acknowledged the concern and indicated it was under review. However,
... BMW has now stated that it is closing my case file without: • Conducting any inspection; • Issuing written findings; • Providing a safety explanation or analysis; or • Confirming whether the reported behavior is a defect, system failure, or normal operation. BMW has conditioned further assistance on dealership inspection while simultaneously closing the manufacturer-level case, creating a gap in accountability and preventing meaningful review of the safety issue at the corporate level. I am not refusing inspection and remain willing to present the vehicle. My concern is that BMW’s attempt to close the case prior to evaluation undermines safety reporting and limits transparency regarding potential risks to drivers and passengers. Please add this update to my complaint record for consideration in any review or investigation.Read more

Vehicle: 2024 Volkswagen Taos Mileage: ~20,000 miles Issue: Sudden unintended acceleration + Automatic Emergency Braking failure Crash: Yes Total Injuries: None VIN: 3VVVX7B29RM028089 Complaint Description: On [date], at approximately 6:00 PM, I was driving my 2024 Volkswagen Taos (about 20K miles) on Highway 92 East in heavy traffic. I attempted to steer left to avoid the vehicle in front of me, but there was no time or braking response. The car continued to surge forward and the right-front quarter of my Taos struck the rear-left corner of the vehicle ahead. The Automatic Emergency Braking system did not activate at any point, despite a clear forward-collision situation. The impact totaled my vehicle. This was unexpected behavior for a modern vehicle equipped with driver-assist safety systems, and the sudden acceleration combined with complete failure of AEB created a dangerous and unavoidable crash. I am filing this complaint regarding a known safety defect affecting my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara (VIN: [XXX] ) - specifically the steering damper column defect commonly referred to as "Death Wobble." ISSUE: My vehicle experiences violent and uncontrollable steering wheel oscillation when hitting bumps or road imperfections at highway speeds (typically above 55 mph). This phenomenon causes the en
... tire front end to shake violently, requiring me to immediately slow down to regain control of the vehicle. This poses an extreme safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. DIAGNOSIS: A certified mechanic has diagnosed my vehicle with steering damper failure - the exact same defect addressed in Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 issued by FCA in June 2019. THE PROBLEM: While FCA issued CSN V41 covering approximately 192,000 2018-2019 Jeep Wranglers for steering damper defects, my VIN was arbitrarily excluded from this notification despite experiencing the identical safety defect. FCA selectively applied the remedy to certain VINs rather than addressing all affected vehicles from these model years. SAFETY CONCERNS: This defect creates loss of vehicle control at highway speeds, significantly increasing crash risk. The NHTSA investigation (PE19-012) identified frame weld quality deficiencies and steering-related defects in 2018-2019 Wranglers affecting approximately 270,000 vehicles. Multiple investigations have documented steering looseness, steering wobble/shimmy, and loss of steering control in these model years. MANUFACTURER REFUSAL: Despite the known defect and my vehicle exhibiting the exact symptoms addressed in CSN V41, Jeep/Stellantis refuses to repair this safety issue under warranty, forcing me to bear the financial burden for a known manufacturing defect. REQUEST: I request NHTSA investigate why FCA limited CSN V41 to select VINs when the defect clearly affects a broader population of 2018-2019 Wranglers, and mandate a comprehensi INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIORead more

This resulted in sudden loss of essential engine functions and poses a significant safety hazard. This failure was caused by improper repair at the dealership.”

I was driving to work when after running across a minor pothole I heard a clunking sound. It turns out it's the top cap for the front coil-over Bilstein shocks had broken allowing the shaft and the bump stop to protrude through the upper mounting plate. The coil did its job of keeping the vehicle suspended, but the shock piston has no ability to alleviate any stresses put upon the coil. Dealer sta
... tes that because there was an outside contribution, i.e. a pothole, which had been driven around and over many times before, wasn't warrantable. There was no more than standard bump and sway than when driving around as usual. There was no shudder as though I was going too fast for the defect in the road. I dont know if there was pre existing stress damage from a recent collision(opposite corner of truck) or if the was a defect with the part. The top cap is made out of aluminum rather than steel, which I find disturbing after learning this is not the first to have broken. This vehicle has only been off pavement in gravel driveways and parking lots. I hope you can investigate this thoroughly.Read more

Audi’s wireless charging pad in 2021–2024 A4/A5/Q5 models: •Overheats the phone •Triggers a thermal radio throttle •iPhone temporarily disables Bluetooth hardware •Audi MMI sees that and throws: “Bluetooth function is currently unavailable.” •Wireless CarPlay collapses because it needs Bluetooth + WiFi Direct •Audio goes dead along with it This EXACT sequence is documented a
... cross A4/A5/Q3/Q5 forums and Audi service bulletins. The pad is the culprit — not your phone, not the car. When bluetooth and apple car play shut down, so do directions which causes driver to scramble to find phone and follow phone screen which distracts drivers and causes accidents. It happens every time you use the tray after 5-20 minutes. Very scary for older drivers. Would like NHTSA to pressure Audi into a recall and fix the pad at Audi's expense. I bought the car to use the wireless charger, not have to work around it. And it is exceptionally unsafe.Read more

My brakes stopped working randomly. Alarms started going off in the car. Thankfully I was able to quickly turn right instead of rolling into traffic. This was terrifying and could have caused a very serious wreck.

My wife started hearing a knocking sound while driving, coming from under the hood. I opened the hood while the engine was idling and could tell the sound was coming from inside the engine. Checked the oil level and it was in the operating range and looked clean. I had just changed the oil and filter 08/2025. After that we immediately drove it to the Honda dealer where we purchased the vehicle and
... the service manager heard the noise, checked for recalls, but could only find the recall for the 2019 Honda Odyssey [XXX] The service manager called in one of his mechanics to listen to the noise in the service manager bay and he said, "Sounds like a bad rod bearing". They then took the vehicle to inspect it further in the mechanic's garage, but as they were pulling it into the bay the engine complete seized up. The vehicle only has 68k miles on it, but now its beyond the warranty period. I was also told by the dealer when I purchased it, that it and the 2019 are identical, so why was the recall issued for the 2019 Odyssey, but not the 2020 model? I'm reading lots of similar reports of this same exact issue with the 2020 model from Honda forums and on youtube posts. This engine problem is clearly larger than the initial recall that was issued in 2024. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I had a passenger seat belt light on and took it to Jim Coleman Infiniti in Bethesda,MD. They then were going to charge me a diagnostic fee to fix it, but instead proceeded to perform a zero point seat reset and got the error code B00A0 and then the passenger air bag light came on. They subsequently said that the vehicle was not covered under any recall or warranty and said that the seat needed t
... o be replaced and informed me that it would be around $8000 at that time. Now it must be more. Looking at the recall campaign 16V244000 my vehicle does not qualify since it is one model year later, but I have seen others have the same issue that I have with the 2017 Q50. There is infact one in Florida that has a similar experience as mine. Talking to the dealer and Infiniti neither wanted to do a goodwill jesters and would only reduce the cost by a few thousand dollars. That still meant that I would need to put out more than $4000 to get a safety issue that should be covered. The symptoms and error codes are exactly the same. So I ask that you extend the recall campaign to the 2017 model year as well for the Q50. It is a safety hazard that will be present on the streets. The dealer also refuses to do the module reset saying that it will fail again. Pleas ask Infiniti to cover the cost of ensuring this critical safety for the passenger side is resolved for all model years that have the error code from the recall.Read more

My vehicle has P0420 and P0430 code errors, indicating a problem with the catalytic converters/emission system. There is a current recall on 2018 VW Atlas vehicles for this issue, but it does not include my vehicle. It appears this recall needs to be extended as the same issue is occurring on other 2018 VW Atlas vehicles.
