Approximately 5 minutes prior to this I did get a message about a transmission malfunction. Due to the transmission going out I was stuck in the intersection. I had it towed to a shop where they have co

There are a couple parts of the transmission that they have not been able to confirm whether they are working due to the TCM failing. I believe that the TCM failing can put drivers in a potentially unsafe position like it did to me. I was stuck in an intersection of 2 very busy roads due to this failure. I dont currently have the part that failed with me. It is still currently on the vehicle. The vehicle and component has not been inspected by anyone other than the shop it was towed to. Since my car had about 45000 miles on the odometer, it has been producing a thick white smoke, not only upon starting the car from a cold start, but also after longer distance trips over 30 miles. After having taken it to the dealership multiple times, their response has been that they cannot recreate the problem and most likely it is from engine sludge due to not maintaining the regular oil chan
... ge schedule. After having shown the dealership the timely maintanence schedule I had performed on the car over the years, they continued to claim that there is no problem with the car. After the standard warranty had run out one year later and upon taking it to the dealership they claim that I need to replace the head gasket and it would cost me $3500. In addition to the avoidance game they played over that year, in my opinion they were simply pushing back the maintenance until the warranty ran out. This is a common problem with this specific car and the low mileage and I know of at least one more family experiencing this problem. There needs to be a thorough investigation on not only the problem with the engine of this car, but the potential of unscrupulous business practices of the dealerships.Read more

Unknown. This was a certified preowned vehicle that was purchased on December 18, 2024. We have had NUMEROUS issues with the car since purchase but the most concerning has been the door actuators. The front door actuators on both sides failed in less than a year from date of purchase. I was told by the dealership where it was repaired that this was a common problem and to expect the rear ones t
... o not be far behind. 4 months later, the rear ones are now not working. This creates a safety hazard, especially since this is the primary vehicle that my teenager drives with his younger brother. A malfunctioning door lock actuator can create dangerous situations, including the possibility that a door may fail to unlock or open, potentially trapping passengers in the vehicle during an emergency or out of the vehicle when my underage children are by themselves. Conversely, the door may appear to be locked when the mechanism has not actually engaged, leaving the vehicle vulnerable to unauthorized access. Faulty actuators may also cause erratic locking or unlocking behavior while the vehicle is in motion, which can create a safety distraction for the driver as well as a security risk. There were no warnings that this was an issue. My son thought the doors were locking (and unlocking). I am aware GM is already "tacking" this issue as I could find stats on how many people have reported, so it is enough that they are taking notice.Read more

The 3.8L Lambda II GDI V6 engine suffered catastrophic failure at approximately 102,000 miles. The root cause is excessive oil consumption documented by an independent repair shop well before the 100,000-mile powertrain warranty expired. At 81,207 miles, during a routine oil change, the mechanic checked oil level before draining and found nothing on the dipstick. Only about 3 quarts drained from a
... n engine with 6.9-quart capacity, meaning nearly 4 quarts were consumed since the last change. This finding repeated at 88,408 miles, with the shop documenting it was the second time oil was critically low. Both events occurred within the powertrain warranty. Original invoices are available for inspection. At no point during ownership did the vehicle display any warning — no low oil level indicator, no low oil pressure warning, no check engine light — despite oil levels falling dangerously low on multiple documented occasions. The absence of any driver alert while the engine operated with less than half its required oil is a serious safety deficiency. The engine failed on while driving with passengers including three young children, causing complete loss of power and requiring an emergency pullover. Loss of engine power at speed creates serious crash risk. The vehicle was serviced at an authorized Kia dealer at 60,449 miles where a 60K service, multi-point inspection, and recall SC243B were performed. The dealer made no mention of oil consumption, did not reference TSB ENG222 (addressing excessive consumption across multiple Kia engine families), and did not perform an oil consumption test. Kia Consumer Affairs refused to submit a goodwill claim and closed the case, citing incomplete oil change documentation — despite the defect being documented within warranty. Excessive oil consumption in 2020-2021 Tellurides appears systemic based on numerous owner reports describing the identical pattern: extreme consumption, no dashboard warnings, and eventual engine failure.Read more

On February 27th, 2026, around 2:00 PM, while driving my 2024 Infinity QX60 on Hwy. 459 in Birmingham, AL, at approximately 70 mph in heavy traffic, the engine suddenly shut down completely and shifted into neutral without any prior warning lights, noises, or symptoms. I had great difficulty figuring out what had happened, and struggled to avoid being hit while crossing over three lanes to coast
... to the shoulder. I attempted to put the car back into drive without success and was absolutely terrified as I barely missed being hit by an 18-wheeler traveling behind me at a high rate of speed. The car was shuddering, but I managed to drive a short distance to the Birmingham Nissan dealer. After an inspection, they stated it was due to an improperly installed air filter that interfered with the MAF, and I was told I had to pay $1,000 for repairs. The Forward Collision warning sensor went out after the MAF was repaired, but the car was released to us. We had to take it right back to the dealer and leave it again.Read more

I was out one day for lunch and my brakes stopped working on my truck. I had the truck towed after I limped home in it. The master cylinder failed at 4,200 miles causing the brakes to fail. It was replaced by the dealership.

The upper radiator hose on some huge percentage of these trucks fail (mine has failed at just over 20K miles). You can check the Colorado Chevy forum, youtube, etc., et al, and find plenty of instances where this has failed. As this is the cooling system, it can cause the engine to overheat and potentially ruin the engine. The flaw seems to be an engineering issue with the rubber seal they use (in
... stead of a high quality o-ring) to seal the upper hose to the radiator. Additionally, since this can cause engine failure it should be addressed immediately. Instead, my local Chevy dealer, since its not a recall item, said they could schedule a time next week for me to LEAVE the truck and then they would get to it in 7-10 days. This is extremely unfair to the consumer who depends on these vehicles. This should absolutely be a recall item. You can find 1000's of examples online and if you can pull GM repair data, I'm sure you'll find 1000's more.Read more

Vehicle: 2020 Subaru Ascent (Build Date: March 2020) Component: Power Train – Automatic Transmission – Hydraulic Pressure Sensor / Wiring Harness The vehicle developed a flashing "Transmission Service" warning and check engine light. It was inspected by a certified technician at Lithia Reno Subaru. Diagnostic scan identified multiple transmission-related codes including P0137, P0700, P2096,
... P1867, P0867, P2723, and P0841. The technician documented the root cause as: "Found pressure sensor leaking oil through all harnesses." According to the dealership diagnosis, the transmission hydraulic pressure sensor failed and allowed transmission fluid to migrate into the vehicle's electrical wiring harness system. Fluid traveled through the transmission harness and continued into the bulkhead and engine harnesses, contaminating multiple electrical systems. Due to the extent of contamination, the dealership determined that all three harnesses must be replaced. The repair estimate is approximately $8,933. Transmission fluid entering the wiring harness can disrupt communication between the transmission control system and other powertrain components. This electrical contamination can cause erratic transmission operation or sudden loss of propulsion while the vehicle is in motion, increasing crash risk. Subaru has issued recalls and service bulletins involving CVT transmission and hydraulic pressure sensor failures in earlier Ascent vehicles using the same drivetrain. My March 2020 vehicle appears to have experienced the same failure pattern. Despite the documented component failure and extensive wiring contamination, the manufacturer declined to fully cover the repair. I request that NHTSA review this failure mode to determine whether hydraulic pressure sensor seal failures allowing transmission fluid to migrate into wiring harness systems represent a broader defect affecting Subaru Ascent vehicles.Read more

My vehicle, a 2015 Ford F150. XLT 3.5 Ecoboost 4x4 SuperCrew has been downshifting intermittently while under load.
