Have had the car since it had 30,000 on it. It was one year old when we bought it. We changed the oil every three months faithfully. The car has 77,000 miles on it now and needs a new engine. The Kias with this type of engine have been recalled, but this car was not. I have had three mechanics tell me that Kia just built this engine poorly. Is there anything that can be done?

The rear passenger seat has a major safety issue. The back will pop forward and then the entire seat moves forward pushing the passenger into the back of the passenger seat. After the alignment service was completed, the local service technician explained he was able to perform the alignment and confirmed the V06 repair had been previously done. He said the steering box nuts on each end of the Adjuster Sleeve had been welded, which was the recommended fix presented in the FCA US LLC safety recall notification. The truck steering wheel was not centered since I acquired it in 2021. At times it was cocked to the left between the 11/12 o'clock position. I attributed this to the well worn tires not knowing about the V06 safety recall issue. The service technician advised that while doing the alignment he noted the welded adjuster sleeve "had play" in it and recommended I take the vehicle to an authorized RAM dealership for this issue because he stated "an updated sleeve" was made available subsequent to issuance of the V06 safety recall notification. He warned a potential failure of the adjuster sleeve could result in loss of steering and a crash. I followed the service technician advice and took the vehicle to the local RAM dealership. I presented the alignment service finding to a management official who responded the recommended safety recall issue had been fixed and no updated sleeve available. The manager never offered to inspect the adjuster sleeve "play" issue and proceeded to list over $3,000 of other 60,000 mile recommended services. Because of the potential safety issue identified as described, I am deeply concerned the RAM dealership was intentionally discarding my safety concerns.Read more

My 2018 Ram 2500 has 85,000 miles currently. At about 80,000 miles I got the ABS and Traction control warning lights along with dash messages to check the ABS amd electronic braking systems. I am a heavy equipment mechanic and thus checked the systems myself with a scan tool and other test equipment. I found that the ABS module has an internal electrical failure resulting in power not being suppli
... ed to the ABS pump/electric motor. I have verified that the pump works and has about a 48ohm resistance. If supplied with 12v and ground to the motor it will come on. Circuit testing from the electrical plug to the contacts for the motor one pin has contact and the other is an open circuit. I also have one seized plunger in the hydraulic control unit that is actuator by the motors eccentric lobe on the output shaft. After doing some research online I've found this is a very common issue on the 2017 and 2018 Ram heavy duty trucks, the 2500 and 3500 model specifically. I also found that neither the hydraulic control unit nor the ABS module have been available for purchase for a long time. I myself have been trying to order one for about 6 months. No dealer in my area can even give me an estimate time of availability. So currently I and many other have to drive a vehicle with a failed ABS system. This poses a greater risk of collision and unsafe braking. It is also a requirement to be working to pass a vehicle inspection so selling the vehicle or depending on state lived in you may not even be able to drive the vehicle at all.Read more

Hyundai corporate has told me that, upon testing other Palisades, they have discovered that this happens in ALL 2024 Palisades. This is troubling for several reasons: 1) The car exhibited an inability to effectively brake in a very common situation (braking when traveling at low speeds on slightly bumpy ground). Several people have noted this experience in Reddit posts; 2) I have been driving for 25 years; I’ve driven other cars with antilock brake systems and have never been in a wreck. This is unlike any experience I’ve ever had in a car and it’s very abnormal / incredibly dangerous; 3) When asked to recreate the issue at the dealership, the head mechanic rode with me and said, “The car shouldn’t do that,” when it occurred with him the car. It was clear that he found it to be very concerning behavior. Hyundai kept the car in the shop for 2 days shy of a month. At the beginning of the month, they apparently did not know that the 2024 Palisade behaved this way. Over the course of the month, they learned that this is how a Palisade behaves when driven over uneven ground at moderate to low speeds because they tried it with other cars they had on hand. This vehicle is prone to rear-end cars in front of it when stopping and also to bouncing out in the middle of an intersection when approaching a stoplight /stop sign. I was driving on the highway when my vehicle started decelerating and shutting down completely. I ended up safely pulling over because it could’ve been a serious accident and called FHP they tested my car code p1326 came up I had it towed to the dealership where they assured me I had the extended warranty and that the car should be covered and I don’t have to pay out of pocket. I’ve had 3 denials for engine replacement due to being outside of warranty with Hyundai even though I have the extended warranty. The dealership has sent pictures and spoke with my case manager at Hyundai to confirm that the engine failure was due to the bent connecting rod bearing that is again covered under warranty. They came back and said other codes populated showing the cause was not the rod bearing but that has to be false. One of the other codes was regarding coolant and I’ve never had any issues with my car overheating or anything prior to my engine shutting down on the highway. I never had any flashing lights or warning signals on my dashboard.
