THE DEALER FELT THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS NOT HEAVY DUTY ENOUGH FOR THIS MODEL. THE DEALER DID SOME ADDITIONAL WORK TO THE BRAKES. A MONTH LATER, THE PROBLEM RESURFACED. THE VEHICLE WAS DUE FOR MAINTENANCE, AND IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO SUSPECTED THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES. MALFUNCTIONED. THE DEALER CONSULTED INFINITI TO SPEAK TO AN ENGINEER ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND FOR ADVICE. SOME CORRECTIONS WERE MADE. AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM HAS BEEN EXHIBITED TWICE IN THE 200+ MILES THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN SINCE WE TOOK DELIVERY. THE FOLLOWING IS A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAPPENS. THIS HAPPENED BOTH TIMES WHILE TRAVELING AT NOMINAL SPEEDS, ABOUT 30 MPH AND STARTING TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES, THEY FELT VERY SPONGY AND DID NOT STOP THE CAR. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ENGINE RP

MY 1997 INFINITI I-30 WAS HAVING A HARD TIME STARTING AND EVENTUALLY THE CAR DIED ONE WEEKEND AND WOULD NOT START. I SPENT SOME TIME ON IT AND GOT THE CAR STARTED AND DROVE IT DOWN TO O'NEIL AUTO PARTS AND THEY PUT THEIR STARTING SYSTEM ANALYSIS MACHINE ON THE STARTING SYSTEM...THEIR RESULTS WERE THAT THE CAR BATTERY WAS OK AND THE CAR STARTER WAS OK BUT THE CAR ALTERNATOR WAS PUTTING OUT 34 AMPS.
